Seek­ing a return to Ottoman Empire glory, Tur­kic peo­ples have been used by the Axis and then West­ern intel­li­gence to pro­mote fas­cism and desta­bi­lize the for­mer USSR, mod­ern Rus­sia and China. Pan-Turkist alliances with fas­cist ele­ments loom large today.
