FTR #897 Fara Mansoor on the “Deep October Surprise,” Part 2

This broadcast is the second of several programs reviewing and highlighting material first presented in early 1993, featuring the landmark research of Fara Mansoor, a heroic, longtime member of the Iranian resistance. Usually, the term “October Surprise” refers to an allege deal between the Reagan/Bush campaign and the Khomeini regime in Iran to withhold the U.S. hostages taken from the American Embassy until after Jimmy Carter’s humiliation and consequent election defeat were assured. Fara’s research goes farther and deeper, suggesting that the CIA learned of the Shah’s cancer in 1974 (from former CIA director Richard Helms), withheld the information from Jimmy Carter, installed Khomeini’s Islamic fundamentalists as an anti-communist bulwark on the Soviet Union’s Southern flank and then micro-managed the hostage crisis to insure the ascension of the Reagan/Bush/Casey forces. What has become known as the Iran-Contra Scandal was an outgrowth of this dynamic. In this program we present analysis of the first phase(s) of the operation, noting that former CIA director Richard Helms learned of the Shah’s cancer in 1975 from General Hossein Fardoust. Withholding this information from President Carter, the CIA fed the administration disinformation asserting that the Shah’s reign well into the 1980’s was assured. Meanwhile, the Agency was maneuvering to install Khomeini as a bulwark against the left, and, as we shall see, a vehicle to destabilize the Carter administration and guarantee the victory of the Reagan/Bush team in the 1980 elections. Program Highlights Include: the presence in Iran in April of 1978 of George H.W. Bush, Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher; the long association of the Shah-to-be, Richard Helms and General Hossein Fardoust dating to their days together in a Swiss boarding school; Carter’s “Halloween massacre” in which he fired some 800 CIA covert operators, who coalesced as part of the Bush team that installed Khomeini and the fundamentalists in power.

FTR #896 Fara Mansoor on “The Deep October Surprise,” Part 1

This broadcast begins several programs reviewing and highlighting material first presented in early 1993, featuring the landmark research of Fara Mansoor, a longtime, heroic member of the Iranian resistance. Usually, the term “October Surprise” refers to an alleged deal between the Reagan/Bush campaign and the Khomeini regime in Iran to withhold the U.S. hostages taken from the American Embassy until after Jimmy Carter’s humiliation and consequent election defeat were assured. In this program, we begin our analysis with an overview of the covert operation, both in the U.S. and Iran, highlighting the key players and the networking in which they engaged to ensure Carter’s downfall and Khomeini’s rise to power. Of particular interest is the “deep-networking” between U.S. operatives such as Richard Cottam and Iranian agents such as General Hossein Fardoust and Viallollah Qarani. Cottam, Fardoust and Qarani’s association stretch from the 1953 coup that installed the Shah and the 1979 “op” that installed Khomeini in Iran and the Reagan/Bush team in the U.S. The program highlights the extent to which American domestic politics, national security policy and overseas diplomacy are controlled by what amounts to a “secret state.”

Why Were the Immigration Files on Tamerlan Tsarnaev So Heavily Redacted?

In FTR #773, among other programs and posts, we noted that the Boston Marathon bombing appears to have been blowback from ongoing covert “ops” using Islamist proxy warriors in the Earth Island. The heavy censorship of Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s immigration files reinforces the suspicion that there is information about the bombers that is too sensitive to be released. All of the contents of this website as of 12/19/2014–Dave Emory’s 35+ years of research and broadcasting–as well as hours of videotaped lectures are available on a 32GB flash drive. FTR #893 Interview with Robert Parry about Ukraine

Returning to our airwaves for the first time in several years, award-winning journalist Robert Parry highlights some of his research on the Ukrainian crisis. After discussing Russian president Putin’s banning of foreign-based NGO’s from operating in Russia, Robert notes the role of the National Endowment of Democracy in orchestrating the Ukraine coup, as well as the organization’s evolution from William Casey’s CIA. Highlighting American journalists’ unwillingness to call the Maidan events as what they obviously were–a coup–Robert sets forth Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland’s plottingwith the American ambassador to Ukraine and her discussion of a $5 billion capital investment the U.S. had made in Ukraine. After reviewing the World War II fascist heritage of organizations like Svoboda and Pravy Sektor, Robert sets forth the deep involvement of those organizations in the Maidan events, as well as the “point” position of Nazi elements like the Azov battalion in the conflict in Ukraine’s Eastern regions. One of the most important topics of discussion is the Orwellian nature of the coverage of events in Ukraine. Noting that there was no “Russian invasion” of the country (as reported by the U.S. media), Robert also discusses Crimea’s long-standing, clearly expressed sentiment to re-unite with Russia, to which that region belonged since the 19th century. A signature element of American propaganda against Russia has been the allegation that Putin was behind the shootdown of Malaysian Air Lines Flight 17. After discussing U.S. photo reconnaissance indicating that Ukrainian government troops were behind the shootdown of the Malaysian airliner, Robert deconstructs an Australian “60 Minutes” propaganda piece that purports to prove Russian authorship of the downing of the airliner. Program Highlights Include: analysis of the burning alive of anti-government protesters by Nazi punisher battalions; the assassination of critics of the Ukrainian government; Ukrainian-American Natalie Jaresko’s assumption of the finance ministry of Ukraine; Jaresko’s financial chicanery while working for U.S. intelligence cutout AID; former Georgian president Mikhail Saakashvili’s appointment as governor of Odessa; the import of ISIS-linked Chechens to fight alongside the Nazi formations in Ukraine; analysis of the Maidan sniper shootings as a provocation.

FTR #891 How Might Colonel L. Fletcher Prouty Have Viewed Edward Snowden? (The Foxes Aren’t Guarding the Henhouse, They ARE the Henhouse, Part 2: Update on the Adventures of Eddie the Friendly Spook)

One of the most incisive critics of the CIA was the late [U.S. Air Force] Colonel L. Fletcher Prouty. Chosen by Allen Dulles to set up “focal point” functions for CIA within other agencies of the U.S. government, Prouty was instrumental in the creation of what he called a “Secret Team”–the title of his 1969 book about “The Agency.” Dulles’ secret network infiltrated the military, the State Department, the FAA and even the White House. Looking at CIA officer Edward Snowden’s activities, Prouty would NOT have taken them at face value and would have seen them against the background of the sub-rosa activities with which he was familiar and had helped create, weighing the possibility that Snowden was operating against NSA on behalf of CIA. Much of the program details the sabotage of Francis Gary Powers’ U-2 spy plane in 1960 on the eve of a summit conference between then U.S. President Dwight Eisenhower and Soviet Premier Nikita Khruschev. Dispatched against the specific orders of Dwight Eisenhower, the U-2 appears to have been deliberately sabotaged. The incident led to the cancellation of the summit conference and the neutralization of detente between the Soviet Union and the United States. Prouty would have noted that Edward Snowden was working for the CIA when he undertook his leaking operation. Prouty would also have noted Snowden’s extreme right-wing views and would not have taken his activities at face value. Snowden’s journey to Hong Kong frustrated President Obama’s attempts at resolving U.S. and Chinese electronic spying and hacking. Snowden’s China sojourn also anticipated U.S. military and economic pressure on China. Snowden’s journey from China to Russia led to the cancellation of a summit conference between Obama and Putin and ended the Obama administration’s “reboot with Russia.” The Snowden “op” preceded the Maidan covert operation and attendant Ukrainian civil war, as well as Western economic pressure on Russia. As a trained intelligence officer, Prouty would have noted that the 1.7 million documents (2.7 million by some accounts) purloined by Snowden fundamentally compromised NSA, perhaps to prevent whistle-blowing on CIA use of Muslim Brotherhood-related Islamists as proxy warriors and heralds of corporatist economics in what Mr. Emory calls “The Earth Island Boogie.” The program concludes with discussion of the intelligence connections of the very privacy activists who are supposedly opposed to U.S. government electronic surveillance. Are Snowden and those so-called “privacy activists” actually “focal point” personnel in the networks set up for Allen Dulles by Prouty? Program Highlights Include: Tor network developer and “privacy activist” Jacob Applebaum’s links with U.S. intelligence asset Gene Sharp; Gene Sharp’s seminal role in the so-called “color revolutions,” some of which are featured in “The Earth Island Boogie;” the links of Applebaum and other “privacy activists” with the Broadcasting Board of Governors, a long-time CIA and State Department cut-out; review of Applebaum’s participation in “L’Affaire Snowden;” so-called “privacy activists’ ” advocacy of apps and networks developed by the BBG.

FTR #886 What the Hell Does Dave Emory Mean by “The Earth Island Boogie?,” Part 3: Geopolitical Quicksand

Analyzing the possibility that American use of Muslim Brotherhood Islamists as proxy warriors and armed heralds of corporatist free-market economic values might backfire on the United States, we look at the development of ISIS, the curious Turkish about-face on the Fetullah Gulen organization and fallout from the so-called “Arab Spring.” Beginning with discussion of a “doomsday” contingency plan concocted by al-Qaeda and Saddam Hussein to back each other up militarily in the event either or both were overthrown by the U.S., we examine the prominent role of former members of Saddam’s officer corps in administering ISIS. ISIS and al-Qaeda are holding forth in Libya, which is serving as a base for spreading their operations into Africa. Like the bloody Syrian civil war, the overthrow of Khadafy (which set the stage for the Islamist presence in Libya) is an outgrowth of the so-called “Arab Spring”–one of the “conga-line ops” we highlighted in FTR #885. Much of the program highlights the operations of the Fetullah Gulen organization in Turkey. Alleged to be a CIA front organization and Islamic extremist in nature, the Gulen organization was formerly an ally of Tayyip Erdogan. Now, it is among his most bitter opponents. Program Highlights Include: review of Hitler’s view that Islamists were a crucial Third Reich ally; review of a critical meeting in Switzerland at which prominent Euro-fascists and al-Taqwa director Ahmed Huber met; speculation that the Swiss “Euro-fascist” summit may have helped generate the intelligence disinformation that helped lure the Bush administration into the ill-advised Iraq war; “ex” CIA officer Graham Fuller’s ridicule of the allegation that the Gulen organization is a CIA front organization; the close connections between Erdogan’s AKP Party, Germany and the EU.

FTR #885 What the Hell Does Dave Emory Mean by “The Earth Island Boogie?,” Part 2: “The Conga-Line ‘Ops’ “

For most of this decade, Mr. Emory has analyzed an overlapping series of “ops” that have determined much of contemporary political reality. At the epicenter of this dynamic is the Earth Island. “The Earth Island Boogie” embraces an overlapping series of “ops” including: the so-called “Orange Revolution” of Ukraine, WikiLeaks, the so-called “Arab Spring,” “L’Affaire Snowden” and the Maidan coup of 2014. ISIS is a direct outgrowth of the so-called “Arab Spring.” This broadcast presents a detailed overview of “the conga-line ‘ops,'” featuring links to key text excerpts providing longer analysis of these dynamics.

FTR #884 What the Hell Does Dave Emory Mean by “The Earth Island Boogie”?, Part 1 (Turkish Taffy, Part 4)

Clarifying and further developing analysis of geopolitical discussion from both previous and future broadcasts, this program details the developing Islamic fascism of Turkey’s Tayyip Erdogan. Both a NATO country and Muslim Brotherhood-derived Islamist in nature, Turkey is also manifesting aggressive militarism. Silencing opposition press and legal investigators who have discovered his support for Islamic terrorists, Erdogan is proposing sweeping constitutional changes and invoking Hitler’s Germany as political precedent. Erdogan’s AK Party evolved from the Muslim Brotherhood and the Bank al-Taqwa milieu. Program Highlights Include: Erdogan’s AK Party’s links with Germany and the EU; Turkey’s dispatch of troops into Iraq, against the wishes of the Iraqi government; Hitler’s political last will and testament, envisioning Islamists as proxy warriors to fulfill his political agenda; review of Zbigniew Brzezinski’s endorsement of Muslim Brotherhood-derived Islamists as proxy warriors against Russia in the Caucasus and China in Central Asia.

FTR #882 The Perfect “Sturm”: Machiavelli 3.0 and the Rise of Global Fascism

When “The New York Times” takes note of the rise of fascism in America, you know things are getting very bad indeed. On successive days (Friday, 12/11 and Saturday, 12/12 of 2015), the Times featured two op-ed columns in each edition discussing the rise of fascism in Europe and the United States. Furthermore, one column noted the fixation by ISIS, the Hindu nationalist fascists in power in India and others on a mythical, idealized past. The broadcast recaps Peter Levenda’s analysis of the role of atavism in fueling fascist ideology. Longing for a mythical, idealized past free of the entanglements of the present, fascists of various types scapegoat those whom they view as having polluted society. Program Highlights Include: Donald Trump’s association with Helene Von Damm (protege of Eichmann superior and CIA officer Otto von Bolschwing); Trump’s association with Joseph McCarthy aide Roy Cohn; Trump’s association with former Axis spy Norman Vincent Peale; the assistance given Joe McCarthy’s witch hunts by a U.S. intelligence network drawing on the skills of SS officers and led by Karl Wolff (Heinrich Himmler’s personal adjutant.)

FTR #881 Turkey Shoot: Sleepwalking into World War III

This broadcast features Pierre Sprey’s analysis of the shootdown of a Russian Su-24 fighter plane, allegedly after violating Turkish air space. (Sprey was one of the developers of the F-16.) Sprey’s analysis can be summed up: ” . . . Looking at the detailed Russian timeline of what happened—as well as the much less detailed Turkish radar maps—I’d say the evidence looks pretty strong that the Turks were setting up an ambush. They certainly weren’t doing anything that would point to a routine air patrol along the border. . . .” Sprey’s breakdown of the event notes that: the area being attacked by the Su-24’s was a base for Turkish-backed Nusra Front and ISIS fighters and ethnic Turks; the Russian planes were not attacked on their first pass, allegedly overflying a small piece of Turkish territory extending into Syria; the Russian planes were attacked on their second attack on the area, well inside of Syrian territory; the Turkish F-16’s were loitering below Syrian and Russian radar, burning much fuel; the Turkish F-16s were refueled by tanker planes to, and from, the target area; the F-16s were under Turkish ground control; the F-16s flew straight to an apparent ambush point; the Turkish aircraft then rose up to ideal firing position, after which they executed a hard right turn, diving below Syrian and Russian radar and violating Syrian air space; the F-16s did not contact the Russian aircraft, as required by international protocol; Turkish ground control may well have broadcast a warning on a frequency they knew the Russian aircraft could not hear; Russian anti-aircraft missiles installed in Syria to guard against a future incident of this type can fire two hundred miles into Turkey, perhaps setting the stage for World War III.
