Other than the name, the orga­ni­za­tion is just a rework­ing of the fascisti of Mus­solini, advo­cat­ing the val­ues of The Cor­po­rate State under the guise of pop­ulism. A Texas Tea Party leader has spilled the beans, explic­itly artic­u­lat­ing the clas­si­cal fas­cism of the Tea Party.

Italy’s recent elec­tions saw the Five Stars Move­ment of come­dian Beppe Grillo win­ning a share of the vote that will enable it to play a key role in form­ing the next coali­tion gov­ern­ment. There are indi­ca­tions of the party’s sym­pa­thy for fas­cism and neo-fascism. Not sur­pris­ingly, Grillo appears to be anti-Semitic as well.

There are numer­ous indi­ca­tions that “fascist-friendly” insti­tu­tional con­ti­nu­ity will be main­tained at the Vat­i­can. The Pope will have the title of “Emer­i­tus Pope.” This will allow him to wield influ­ence behind the scenes. That should be easy to accom­plish. The Pope will con­tinue to reside Vat­i­can City, retain­ing diplo­matic immu­nity from future pros­e­cu­tion or lit­i­ga­tion. Ratzinger/Benedict’s suc­ces­sor may well be some­one cut from the same fab­ric as he. The tim­ing of the con­clave that will select the next pon­tiff may be moved up.

We’ve posted sev­eral times in con­nec­tion with the res­ig­na­tion of Bene­dict XVI. Media spec­u­la­tion has cen­tered on a report sub­mit­ted to Ratzinger/Benedict detail­ing black­mail of a pow­er­ful “Vel­vet Mafia” of gay prelates inside the Vat­i­can. That scan­dal appears to be over­lap­ping some of the inquiries into the Vat­i­can finances. Appar­ently black­mailed by out­siders over their exten­sive and rel­a­tively vis­i­ble liaisons, the “Vel­vet Mafia” appears to have had deal­ings with the Vat­i­can bank–long a focus of intrigue and covert fas­cist machinations.

Pope Benedict’s res­ig­na­tion has gar­nered much spec­u­la­tion as to the rea­son why. Less spec­u­la­tion has been given to some of the appoint­ments that the Pope has made just before leav­ing the Vat­i­can. The Vat­i­can offi­cial rep­re­sent­ing the Holy See to Mon­ey­val (over­see­ing money laun­der­ing and ter­ror­ism inves­ti­ga­tions for the Coun­cil of Europe) has been trans­ferred to Colom­bia. Might this have any­thing to do with the reputed rela­tion­ship between late Vat­i­can finan­cial adviser Roberto Calvi and Pablo Esco­bar of the Medellin Cartel?

The his­tory of the Vat­i­can Bank, the IOR, is inex­tri­ca­bly linked with scan­dal and the his­tory of the Holy See’s involve­ment with fas­cism. The out­go­ing Pope has named a Ger­man mem­ber of the Knights of Malta to head that insti­tu­tion. (The Knights of Malta or SMOM is, basi­cally, the mil­i­tary wing of the Vat­i­can.) Ratzinger/Benedict’s selec­tion is Ernst von Frey­berg, a mem­ber of the board of Blohm & Voss, the Ger­man ship­maker and man­u­fac­turer of war­ships for Hitler and the Fed­eral Repub­lic of Germany.

A care­taker Pope, Bene­dict XVI presided over numer­ous inquiries into Vat­i­can malfea­sance. His res­ig­na­tion raises the ques­tion as to what will fol­low. Steeped in the Vatican’s long-standing rela­tion­ship with fas­cism, the out­go­ing Pope presided over a white­wash of Pius XII’s involve­ment with the Third Reich and a blunt­ing of inquiries into the molesta­tion scan­dals unfold­ing around the world.

In exchange for mak­ing Roman Catholi­cism the offi­cial state reli­gion of fas­cist Italy through the Lat­eran Treaty of 1929, Mussolini’s regime gave the Vat­i­can con­trol over assets that were par­layed into a major finan­cial empire. A recent story in the “Guardian” (UK) high­lights the extent to which the Vat­i­can has cob­bled together a major inter­na­tional real estate empire, built on the foun­da­tion solid­i­fied by the Lat­eran Treaty of 1929. We should never lose sight of the ongo­ing rela­tion­ship between “Vat­i­can Incor­po­rated” and the Under­ground Reich.

We recall the tsunami of praise, Hosan­nas and Hal­lelu­jahs gush­ing forth from the world’s media and polit­i­cal pun­ditry. Hail­ing the “Arab Spring” as the dawn­ing of a new enlight­en­ment in that part of the world, they missed the boat–fundamentally. We, on the other hand, were warn­ing that this phe­nom­e­non was a Nazi oper­a­tion, hav­ing been ini­ti­ated by pow­er­ful cor­po­rate forces in the sec­ond admin­is­tra­tion of George W. Bush, it had its trig­ger with the Wik­iLeaks milieu–itself a far-right, Nazi-linked entity, as we demon­strated in FTR’s 732 and #745. (In addi­tion to the doc­u­men­ta­tion in the orig­i­nal WikiLeaks/Arab Spring series, see the arti­cle excerpted below.) Before delv­ing into details, an excel­lent overview of recent events in Egypt was pro­vided in an English-language blog by a cit­i­zen of that tor­tured coun­try. The con­tra­dic­tions and deadly under­cur­rents of unfold­ing events were elo­quently summed up by Mah­moud Salem in “Imagine.”


Roberto Calvi Linked to Pablo Escobar

It is now rel­a­tively well known that the late Pablo Esco­bar and the asso­ci­ated Medellin Car­tel were heav­ily involved with the Iran-Contra cocaine traf­fic of the 1980’s. Press accounts have now sur­faced in Italy and the UK about Esco­bar hav­ing banked some of his pro­ceeds with Roberto Calvi’s Banco Ambrosiano. Found mur­dered in Lon­don in late 1982, Calvi was the adviser to the IOR, hav­ing suc­ceeded the late Michele Sin­dona in that regard. (Like Calvi, Sin­dona was a mem­ber of the Licio Gelli’s P-2 Lodge.) Dis­clo­sure of the Calvi/Escobar link sug­gests another link between the Iran-Contra affair and the Stibam arms for drugs ring that heav­ily over­lapped the milieu of the P-2, Vat­i­can Bank and the Banco Ambrosiano.
