Why won’t Congress and the television news media investigate the relationship between the Bush family and Sun Myung Moon? by Carla BinionOnline Journal/February 22, 2001 The following essay explains why the story is newsworthy. While TV talking heads hammer the public hour after hour with repetitious chatter about Clinton’s pardons and gossipy allegations of “theft” […]
Continuing analysis and discussion from FTR #891, we further explore the CIA-generated background and funding of the “privacy” advocates who comprise much of “Team Snowden.” Recall that Snowden himself was with CIA when he chose to double on NSA. We begin by reviewing our scrutiny of Edward Snowden from the perspective of Colonel L. Fletcher Prouty, the Air Force “Focal Point Officer” who developed a CIA-controlled network inside of the branches of the military and other agencies of the federal government. This “focal point” network constituted a “secret government within a government” that appears to exist to this day. Next, we set forth the evolution of the Broadcasting Board of Governors and Radio Free Asia, the parent organizations of the Open Technology Fund. The OTF has capitalized much of the encrypted “anti-surveillance” technology that has been developed. “Team Snowden,” in turn, has evolved from this milieu. In our past discussions of the assassination of President Kennedy, we have noted that the very same covert action networks used to overthrow and eliminate governments and individuals deemed hostile to U.S. interests were ultimately deployed against Americans and even the United States itself. “Regime change” and destabilization came home. In a similar fashion, it is our considered opinion that a CIA-derived technology milieu developed to assist and effect “ops” abroad was used to destabilize the Obama administration through the Snowden “op.” ” . . . Readers might find it odd that a US government agency established as a way to launder the image of various shady propaganda outfits (more on that soon) is now keen to fund technologies designed to protect us from the US government. Moreover, it might seem curious that its money would be so warmly welcomed by some of the Internet’s fiercest antigovernment activists. . . . . You’d think that anti-surveillance activists like Chris Soghoian, Jacob Appelbaum, Cory Doctorow and Jillian York would be staunchly against outfits like BBG and Radio Free Asia, and the role they have played — and continue to play — in working with defense and corporate interests to project and impose U.S. power abroad. Instead, these radical activists have knowingly joined the club, and in doing so, have become willing pitchmen for a wing of the very same U.S. National Security State they so adamantly oppose. . . .” Program Highlights Include: The controversy over WhatsApp’s encryption technology; the development of WhatsApp’s encryption technology by the CIA-derived Open Technology Fund; FBI Director James Comey’s support for Mitt Romney in 2012; the apparent role of Comey in destabilizing the Obama administration and the Hillary Clinton campaign.
One of the most incisive critics of the CIA was the late [U.S. Air Force] Colonel L. Fletcher Prouty. Chosen by Allen Dulles to set up “focal point” functions for CIA within other agencies of the U.S. government, Prouty was instrumental in the creation of what he called a “Secret Team”–the title of his 1969 book about “The Agency.” Dulles’ secret network infiltrated the military, the State Department, the FAA and even the White House. Looking at CIA officer Edward Snowden’s activities, Prouty would NOT have taken them at face value and would have seen them against the background of the sub-rosa activities with which he was familiar and had helped create, weighing the possibility that Snowden was operating against NSA on behalf of CIA. Much of the program details the sabotage of Francis Gary Powers’ U‑2 spy plane in 1960 on the eve of a summit conference between then U.S. President Dwight Eisenhower and Soviet Premier Nikita Khruschev. Dispatched against the specific orders of Dwight Eisenhower, the U‑2 appears to have been deliberately sabotaged. The incident led to the cancellation of the summit conference and the neutralization of detente between the Soviet Union and the United States. Prouty would have noted that Edward Snowden was working for the CIA when he undertook his leaking operation. Prouty would also have noted Snowden’s extreme right-wing views and would not have taken his activities at face value. Snowden’s journey to Hong Kong frustrated President Obama’s attempts at resolving U.S. and Chinese electronic spying and hacking. Snowden’s China sojourn also anticipated U.S. military and economic pressure on China. Snowden’s journey from China to Russia led to the cancellation of a summit conference between Obama and Putin and ended the Obama administration’s “reboot with Russia.” The Snowden “op” preceded the Maidan covert operation and attendant Ukrainian civil war, as well as Western economic pressure on Russia. As a trained intelligence officer, Prouty would have noted that the 1.7 million documents (2.7 million by some accounts) purloined by Snowden fundamentally compromised NSA, perhaps to prevent whistle-blowing on CIA use of Muslim Brotherhood-related Islamists as proxy warriors and heralds of corporatist economics in what Mr. Emory calls “The Earth Island Boogie.” The program concludes with discussion of the intelligence connections of the very privacy activists who are supposedly opposed to U.S. government electronic surveillance. Are Snowden and those so-called “privacy activists” actually “focal point” personnel in the networks set up for Allen Dulles by Prouty? Program Highlights Include: Tor network developer and “privacy activist” Jacob Applebaum’s links with U.S. intelligence asset Gene Sharp; Gene Sharp’s seminal role in the so-called “color revolutions,” some of which are featured in “The Earth Island Boogie;” the links of Applebaum and other “privacy activists” with the Broadcasting Board of Governors, a long-time CIA and State Department cut-out; review of Applebaum’s participation in “L’Affaire Snowden;” so-called “privacy activists’ ” advocacy of apps and networks developed by the BBG.
