I want­ed you to know, Dave, that I have final­ly lis­tened and/or read every last show on the Spit­fire List web­site. It took me over 5 years to do it, but it final­ly hap­pened. I con­sid­er it the great­est achieve­ment of my life.

Con­gress passed the McCar­ran Inter­nal Secu­ri­ty Act of 1950 over the veto of Pres­i­dent Har­ry Tru­man four months into the Kore­an War. Crit­ics believed the act posed a risk to First Amend­ment rights of free­dom of speech and asso­ci­a­tion.

The author, Sen. Pat McCar­ran, D‑Nev., was a sup­port­er of Sen. Joseph McCarthy and chaired the Judi­cia­ry Com­mit­tee dur­ing the late 1940s and ear­ly 1950s, when fear of Com­mu­nism was par­tic­u­lar­ly ram­pant.

Act required com­mu­nist orga­ni­za­tions to reg­is­ter with gov­ern­ment
The act had three main com­po­nents.

First, it cre­at­ed a Sub­ver­sive Activ­i­ties Con­trol Board (SACB), which on the peti­tion of the attor­ney gen­er­al could order an orga­ni­za­tion it deter­mined to be Com­mu­nist to reg­is­ter with the Jus­tice Depart­ment and sub­mit infor­ma­tion con­cern­ing mem­ber­ship, finances, and activ­i­ties.
Sec­ond, the act made it a felony to take any steps that might con­tribute sub­stan­tial­ly to the estab­lish­ment of a total­i­tar­i­an dic­ta­tor­ship in the Unit­ed States.
Third, it autho­rized the Pres­i­dent, in an emer­gency (defined as inva­sion, dec­la­ra­tion of war, or insur­rec­tion in aid of a for­eign ene­my), to arrest and detain per­sons who he believed might engage in espi­onage or sab­o­tage.
The pre­ven­tive deten­tion pro­vi­sion was not part of McCarran’s orig­i­nal bill. Its authors, includ­ing Demo­c­rat Sen­a­tor Hubert Humphrey of Min­neso­ta, had hoped to sab­o­tage the bill by mak­ing it even tougher on Com­mu­nism. They mis­cal­cu­lat­ed, how­ev­er; the “poi­son pill” was accept­ed.
[An alter­na­tive read­ing would sug­gest that “lib­er­al” ele­ments of the Amer­i­can rul­ing class, still mind­ful of the pop­u­lar­i­ty of the USSR and the cen­tral role of the Red Army in the defeat of Nazi Ger­many — not to men­tion the then cur­rent aware­ness of the way in which Cap­i­tal had tried to pave the way for Nazism, want­ed to *appear* to oppose an act with which they were in full accord but did not wish to tip their hand, so to speak — One need only look at Hump’s fer­vent sup­port of the war in Viet­nam. — ed.]

The act required the Com­mu­nist Par­ty and the 24 oth­er orga­ni­za­tions charged as Com­mu­nist to reg­is­ter with the Jus­tice Depart­ment, but none did.

Pres­i­dent Tru­man had vetoed the act because of per­ceived con­sti­tu­tion­al prob­lems — prob­lems soon uncov­ered by the Supreme Court.

Although the Supreme Court in 1961 upheld a SACB order requir­ing the Com­mu­nist Par­ty to reg­is­ter, in Com­mu­nist Par­ty of the Unit­ed States v. Sub­ver­sive Activ­i­ties Con­trol Board (1961), courts lat­er ruled that indi­vid­ual mem­bers could not be com­pelled to reg­is­ter the par­ty. In Albert­son v. Sub­ver­sive Activ­i­ties Con­trol Board (1965), the Court declared that reg­is­tra­tion of an indi­vid­ual amount­ed to self-incrim­i­na­tion and vio­lat­ed the Fifth Amend­ment.

In Apthek­er v. Sec­re­tary of State (1964), the Court ruled that deny­ing mem­bers of Com­mu­nist orga­ni­za­tions pass­ports was uncon­sti­tu­tion­al. And in Unit­ed States v. Robel (1967), the Court declared that a mem­ber of a Com­mu­nist orga­ni­za­tion who worked for a defense facil­i­ty and who was indict­ed because of that fact was being denied his First Amend­ment right of assem­bly.

Sub­ver­sive Activ­i­ties Con­trol Board ceas­es oper­a­tions
In 1968 Con­gress removed the require­ment that Com­mu­nist orga­ni­za­tions had to reg­is­ter with the attor­ney gen­er­al. The SACB had vir­tu­al­ly ceased to func­tion, and appoint­ments to the board were viewed as sinecures. The SACB was autho­rized only to main­tain a pub­lic list of orga­ni­za­tions and indi­vid­u­als it found to be com­mu­nist.

The pre­ven­tive deten­tion pro­vi­sion was repealed in 1971. It had been opposed by orga­ni­za­tions of Japan­ese Amer­i­cans, who had been relo­cat­ed from the West Coast and detained in camps dur­ing World War II.

In 1972 Con­gress slashed the SACB’s bud­get by 50 per­cent, and Pres­i­dent Richard Nixon’s 1973 bud­get mes­sage omit­ted all funds for it. The board had ceased its oper­a­tions by 1973.

Then in 1993 Con­gress repealed much of the act (Sec­tions 1, 3, 5, 6, 9–16). By the 1990s, the Com­mu­nist threat was no longer rel­e­vant.

The Pen­ta­gon has been grant­ed access to cer­tain state secrets of Ukraine in con­nec­tion with the projects under their agree­ment.

Genet­i­cal­ly engi­neered humans

...the Pen­ta­gon wants to engi­neer humans...DARPA Advanced Tools for Mam­malian Genome Engi­neer­ing Project seeks to cre­ate a bio­log­i­cal plat­form inside the human body, using it to deliv­er new genet­ic infor­ma­tion, and thus alter­ing humans at the DNA lev­el.

DARPA wants to insert an addi­tion­al 47th arti­fi­cial chro­mo­some into human cells. This chro­mo­some will deliv­er new genes that will be used for engi­neer­ing the human body. Syn­Ploid Biotek LLC has been award­ed two con­tracts under the pro­gram total­ing $1.1 mil­lion (2015–2016 – $ 100,600 for the first phase of the research; 2015–2017 – $ 999,300 for work which is not spec­i­fied in the fed­er­al con­tracts reg­istry. The com­pa­ny has only two employ­ees and no pre­vi­ous record on bio-research.

Top Secret Research on Syn­thet­ic Virus­es

Between 2008 and 2014, the Unit­ed States invest­ed approx­i­mate­ly $820 mil­lion in syn­thet­ic biol­o­gy research, Defense being a major con­trib­u­tor. Most of the mil­i­tary projects on syn­thet­ic biol­o­gy are clas­si­fied, among them are a num­ber of clas­si­fied stud­ies by the secre­tive JASON group of US mil­i­tary advi­sors – e.g. Emerg­ing Virus­es and Genome Edit­ing for the Pen­ta­gon, and Syn­thet­ic Virus­es for the Nation­al Coun­tert­er­ror­ism Cen­ter.

JASON is an inde­pen­dent sci­en­tif­ic advi­so­ry group that pro­vides con­sult­ing ser­vices to the U.S. gov­ern­ment on mat­ters of defense sci­ence and tech­nol­o­gy. It was estab­lished in 1960 and most of their result­ing JASON reports are clas­si­fied. For admin­is­tra­tive pur­pos­es, the JASON’s projects are run by the MITRE Cor­po­ra­tion, which has con­tracts with the Defense Depart­ment, CIA and the FBI. Since 2014 MITRE has been award­ed some $27.4 mil­lion in con­tracts with the DoD.

Although the JASON Reports are clas­si­fied, anoth­er US Air Force study titled Biotech­nol­o­gy: Genet­i­cal­ly Engi­neered Pathogens, sheds some light on what the secre­tive JASON group has researched – 5 groups of genet­i­cal­ly engi­neered pathogens that can be used as bio-weapons. These are bina­ry bio­log­i­cal weapons (a lethal com­bi­na­tion of two virus­es), host swap­ping dis­eases (ani­mal virus­es that “jump” to humans, like the Ebo­la virus), stealth virus­es, and design­er dis­eases. Design­er dis­eases can be engi­neered to tar­get a cer­tain eth­nic group, mean­ing that they can be used as eth­nic bio-weapons.

Accel­er­a­tionists fol­low the blue­print laid out by neo-Nazi James Mason in The Siege (not the film with Den­zel Wash­ing­ton) whose writ­ing inspires Charles Man­son types of killing sprees. Mason, liv­ing in obscu­ri­ty in Den­ver until he was brought out of retire­ment by Atom­waf­fen, a right wing Neo Nazi group. The goal of accel­er­a­tionism is to burn every­thing down and to use vio­lence both to tar­get ene­mies and insti­gate an overt and extreme response from the gov­ern­ment.

Accel­er­a­tionists hope to “demol­ish the state appa­ra­tus that stands between them and a white-dom­i­nat­ed future.” And the White Suprema­cists here could be of a dif­fer­ent ori­en­ta­tion too – orga­nized to dis­cred­it the pro­tes­tors with no clear or delib­er­ate vision for greater polit­i­cal change in mind.
