LisÂten now: One SegÂment
The Stibam arms-for-drugs ring was one of the most imporÂtant and least pubÂliÂcized eleÂments of U.S. and NATO covert operÂaÂtions in the 1970s and 1980s. This proÂgram disÂcussÂes conÂnecÂtions between this operÂaÂtion’s drug busiÂness and the milieu of the fasÂcist Grey Wolves, some of whose memÂbers shot the pope in May of 1981. The broadÂcast also conÂtains a sumÂmaÂry of the numerÂous conÂnecÂtions between Stibam and U.S. intelÂliÂgence, the Drug EnforceÂment AdminÂisÂtraÂtion, the fasÂcist P‑2 Lodge, promiÂnent U.S. politiÂcians and promiÂnent ItalÂian politiÂcians. Some of the orgaÂniÂzaÂtion’s past operÂaÂtions are also disÂcussed, includÂing Stibam’s conÂnecÂtions to the Iran-ConÂtra and IraqÂgate scanÂdals and its apparÂent involveÂment in attempts at smugÂgling nuclear weapons to Arab nations. (RecordÂed in the fall of 1995.)
