Introduction: This program differs from other broadcasts in a fundamental way. Consisting of text written by Mr. Emory about a number of old anti-fascist books now available on the Spitfire web site, the material in this program is already on the site. For the convenience of the reader, a synoptic overview of the program material is presented here.
1. The program begins with a reading of the entire introductory document to the book descriptions. Setting forth the history of the cartel agreements that financially nourished the fascist powers, as well as the methodology of the Fifth Column movements that facilitated fascist conquest and then aided its postwar resuscitation, the introduction provides a good overview of some of the fundamental aspects of fascism.
2. Noting a central element of the analysis presented in For The Record, the program sets forth the influence of the thought of Prussian military theoretician Karl von Clausewitz on the strategic doctrine of the German power elite over the years. The text excerpt is from Germany’s Master Plan: The Story of an Industrial Offensive by Joseph Borkin and Charles A. Welsh.
3. Utilizing their Fifth Column contacts in other countries, the Nazis successfully planned to go underground, relying in considerable measure on the assistance of American and British industrialists and financiers who had supported them. The text excerpt is from The Nazis Go Underground by Curt Reiss.
4. Next, the program details elements of the Fifth Column in the United States, including the role of the Bush family. The text excerpt is from Under Cover by John Roy Carlson.
5. Successfully realizing their postwar plans to go underground, the Third Reich blossomed into the Bormann capital network, called by one banker “the greatest concentration of money power under a single control in all of world history.” The text excerpt is from Martin Bormann: Nazi in Exile by Paul Manning.
6. The culmination of the planning of thinkers like von Clausewitz and Friedrich List and the practical efforts of Martin Bormann and his SS associates, the European Monetary Union corresponds very closely to the 1940 Nazi plans for Europe, as related by Dorothy Thompson. The text excerpt is from Germany Plots with the Kremlin by T.H. Tetens.
7. Concluding with James Stewart Martin’s stark warning to the world written in 1950, the program concludes with his forecast of the coming of fascism to America. The text excerpt is from All Honorable Men.
