These segments document the close professional relationship between former President George Bush (former director of the CIA), Jerry Falwell (founder of the so-called “Moral Majority”) and Sun Myung Moon (the head of the Unification Church). Bush has been doing lucrative speaking engagements for Moon and his organization for some time. Most recently, a Bush speaking tour on behalf of Moon in Latin America was instrumental in launching Moon’s new Latin American newspaper. Criticism and opposition to the paper’s founding had been widespread and vehement. Bush’s endorsement neutralized that opposition. Moon’s organization is the financial patron of Falwell’s Liberty University. When that Evangelical institution was threatened with bankruptcy, its existence was sustained by money from Moon. Labeled as a threat to U.S. national security by elements of American intelligence, Moon and his organization have been vocally anti-American, while attempting to paint themselves as pro-American at the same time. Historically allied with Japanese fascists and war criminals from World War II, Moon’s outfit may very well be an extension of the Japanese Patriotic Societies, even though it is superficially Korean. These organizations helped to pave the way for the rise of fascism in Japan prior to the Second World War.
