FTR#1239 This program was recorded in one, 60-minute segment.

NB: This description contains background material from previous programs about Covid-19 from previous programs that were not in the original broadcast.

Zelensky “normalizes” Stephan Bandera

Introduction: This program continues coverage of the Ukraine war with particular emphasis on the decisively important overlap between the institutions implicated in the creation of SARS CoV‑2 and the Covid-19 “op” and the Pentagon financing of the apparent biological warfare programs in Ukraine.

A remarkable aspect of the Journal’s coverage of the WHO’s resumption of inquiry into the origins of Covid-19 concerns a development that has been almost completely excised from the Western press: ” . . . . For months, China’s government has insisted both in public, and in private meetings with Dr. Tedros, that studies on the origins of the virus should now focus on other countries, such as Italy, or on a U.S. military bioresearch facility in Fort Detrick, Md. Dozens of governments aligned with China have sent Dr. Tedros letters in support of Beijing’s position, a person familiar with the letters said. . . .”

“Dozens of governments?” Which ones? This sounds like a major international dialogue/scandal.

WHY aren’t we hearing about it?

Pompeo State Department officials pursuing the lab-leak hypothesis were told to cover it up lest it shed light on U.S. government funding of research at the “Oswald Institute of Virology!”: ” . . . . In one State Department meeting, officials seeking to demand transparency from the Chinese government say they were explicitly told by colleagues not to explore the Wuhan Institute of Virology’s gain-of-function research, because it would bring unwelcome attention to U.S. government funding of it. . . . In an internal memo obtained by Vanity Fair, Thomas DiNanno, former acting assistant secretary of the State Department’s Bureau of Arms Control, Verification, and Compliance, wrote that. . .  staff from two bureaus . . . ‘warned’ leaders within his bureau ‘not to pursue an investigation into the origin of COVID-19’ because it would ‘open a can of worms’ if it continued.’ . . . . As the group probed the lab-leak scenario, among other possibilities, its members were repeatedly advised not to open a ‘Pandora’s box,’ said four former State Department officials interviewed by Vanity Fair. . . .”

Although heavily spun–as would be expected from a Daily Mail article–this story not only has important implications for the war in Ukraine, but also resonates with our long series on “The Oswald Institute of Virology.”

We note that there are significant connections between the agency overseeing the Ukrainian projects and institutions implicated in the apparent “bio-skullduggery” surrounding the U.S. biological warfare gambit involving what Mr. Emory has termed “The Oswald Institute of Virology.” This is discussed in: FTR#‘s 1157–1159, 1170, 1183 through 1193, and 1215.

The essence of the “Oswald Institute of Virology” gambit concerns the DTRA and Pentagon funding of bat-borne coronavirus research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, much of it through Peter Daszak’s EcoHealth Alliance. Once the research was complete, it resulted in publication which included the genome of the bat viruses being researched. Using technology discussed below, the viruses were then synthesized from scratch and population groups were vectored with the same viral strains being researched by the WIV.

It turns out that Hunter Biden–a member of the board of directors at Burisma–was instrumental in securing funding for EcoHealth Alliance partner Metabiota, described in a screen shot of an e‑mail as being “to the DOA what Palantir is to CIA.”

Both EcoHealth Alliance and Metabiota have been involved with bat-borne coronavirus at the WIV.

Note that–” . . . . ‘His [Hunter Biden’s] father was the Vice President of the United States and in charge of relations with Ukraine.’ . . .”

Previously we have noted then Vice-President Joe Biden’s close relationship with U.S. Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt and Ukrainaian fascist Andriy Parubiy during the Maidan coup, which centered on false-flag sniper killings from buildings controlled by Svoboda (formerly the Social National Party of Ukraine, founded by Parubiy.)

Svoboda occupied key positions in the provisional post-Maidan Ukrainian government and wields significant influence to this day.

Highlights of the Discussion:

  • ” . . . . The commander of the Russian Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Protection Forces, claimed there was a ‘scheme of interaction between US government agencies and Ukrainian biological objects’ and pointed to the ‘financing of such activities by structures close to the current US leadership, in particular the investment fund Rosemont Seneca, which is headed by Hunter Biden.’. . .”
  • ” . . . . Moscow’s claim that Hunter Biden helped finance a US military ‘bioweapons’ research program in Ukraine is at least partially true, according to new emails obtained exclusively by DailyMail.com. . . .”
  • ” . . . . emails from Hunter’s abandoned laptop show he helped secure millions of dollars of funding for Metabiota, a Department of Defense contractor specializing in research on pandemic-causing diseases that could be used as bioweapons. . . .”
  • ” . . . . Metabiota has been an official partner of EcoHealth Alliance since 2014, according to its website. . . .”
  • ” . . . . He also introduced Metabiota to an allegedly corrupt Ukrainian gas firm, Burisma, for a ‘science project’ involving high biosecurity level labs in Ukraine . . . .”
  • ” . . . . Emails and defense contract data reviewed by DailyMail.com suggest that Hunter had a prominent role in making sure Metabiota was able to conduct its pathogen research just a few hundred miles from the border with Russia. . . .”
  • ” . . . . Metabiota has worked in Ukraine for Black & Veatch, a US defense contractor with deep ties to military intelligence agencies, which built secure labs in Ukraine that analyzed killer diseases and bioweapons. . . .”
  • ” . . . . Hunter was also particularly involved in Metabiota’s operations in Ukraine. Hunter’s pitches to investors claimed that they not only organized funding for the firm, they also helped it ‘get new customers’ including ‘government agencies in case of Metabiota’. . . .”
  • ” . . . . Former senior CIA officer Sam Faddis, who has reviewed emails on Hunter’s laptop, told DailyMail.com that the offer to help assert Ukraine’s independence was odd for a biotech executive [Metabiota vice-president Mary Guttieri]. ‘It raises the question, what is the real purpose of this venture? It’s very odd,’ he said. . . .”
  • ” . . . . Guttieri had a leading role in Metabiota’s Ukraine operations, meeting with other company executives and US and Ukrainian military officials in October 2016 to discuss ‘cooperation in surveillance and prevention of especially dangerous infectious diseases, including zoonotic diseases in Ukraine and neighboring countries’ according to a 2016 report by the Science and Technology Center in Ukraine. . . .”
  • ” . . . . Four days after Guttieri’s April 2014 email, Burisma executive Vadym Pozharskyi wrote to Hunter revealing that the then-Vice President’s son had pitched a ‘science project’ involving Burisma and Metabiota in Ukraine. ‘As I understand the Metabiota was a subcontract to principal contactor of the DoD B&V [Black & Veatch]. . . .”
  • ” . . . . Faddis told DailyMail.com that the attempt to get Metabiota to form a partnership with Burisma was a perplexing and worrying revelation. His father was the Vice President of the United States and in charge of relations with Ukraine. So why was Hunter not only on the board of a suspect Ukrainian gas firm, but also hooked them up with a company working on bioweapons research?’ Faddis said. . . .”
  • ” . . . . ‘The DoD position is that  . . . . this is pandemic early warning research. We don’t know for sure that’s all that was going on. . . .”
  • ” . . . . Government spending records show the Department of Defense awarded an $18.4million contract to Metabiota between February 2014 and November 2016, with $307,091 earmarked for ‘Ukraine research projects’. . . .”
  • ” . . . . The US Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) also commissioned B&V to build a Biological Safety Level 3 laboratory in Odessa, Ukraine in 2010, which ‘provided enhanced equipment and training to effectively, safely and securely identify especially dangerous pathogens’ according to a company press release. Such labs are used to ‘study infectious agents or toxins that may be transmitted through the air and cause potentially lethal infections,’ the US Department of Health and Human Services says. . . .”
  • ” . . . . In another sign of the deep ties between Metabiota and the Department of Defense, Hunter’s RSTP business partner Rob Walker said he would ‘have a friend reach out to DoD on the down low’, in order to prove the company’s bona fides to top prospective investors Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley in October 2014. . . .”
  • ” . . . . Metabiota also has close ties to the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), suspected to be the source of the COVID-19 outbreak. WIV was a hotspot for controversial ‘gain of function’ research that can create super-strength viruses. Chinese scientists performed gain of function research on coronaviruses at the WIV, working alongside a US-backed organization EcoHealth Alliance that has since drawn intense scrutiny over its coronavirus research since the COVID-19 pandemic. Researchers from the Wuhan institute, Metabiota and EcoHealth Alliance published a study together in 2014 on infectious diseases from bats in China, which notes that tests were performed at the WIV. Shi Zhengli, the WIV Director of the Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases who became dubbed the ‘bat lady’ for her central role in bat coronavirus research at the lab, was a contributor to the paper. . . .”

“EXCLUSIVE: Hunter Biden DID help secure millions in funding for US contractor in Ukraine specializing in deadly pathogen research, laptop emails reveal, raising more questions about the disgraced son of then vice president” by JOSH BOSWELL; Daily Mail [UK]; 3/25/2022.

The Russian government held a press conference Thursday claiming that Hunter Biden helped finance a US military ‘bioweapons’ research program in Ukraine

However the allegations were branded a brazen propaganda ploy to justify president Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine and sow discord in the US

But emails and correspondence obtained by DailyMail.com from Hunter’s abandoned laptop show the claims may well be true

The emails show Hunter helped secure millions of dollars of funding for Metabiota, a Department of Defense contractor specializing in research on pandemic-causing diseases

He also introduced Metabiota to an allegedly corrupt Ukrainian gas firm, Burisma, for a ‘science project’ involving high biosecurity level labs in Ukraine

The president’s son and his colleagues invested $500,000 in Metabiota through their firm Rosemont Seneca Technology Partners

They raised several million dollars of funding for the company from investment giants including Goldman Sachs

Moscow’s claim that Hunter Biden helped finance a US military ‘bioweapons’ research program in Ukraine is at least partially true, according to new emails obtained exclusively by DailyMail.com.

The commander of the Russian Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Protection Forces, claimed there was a ‘scheme of interaction between US government agencies and Ukrainian biological objects’ and pointed to the ‘financing of such activities by structures close to the current US leadership, in particular the investment fund Rosemont Seneca, which is headed by Hunter Biden.’

Intelligence experts say the Russian military leader’s allegations were a brazen propaganda ploy to justify president Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine and sow discord in the US.

And although Metabiota is ostensibly a medical data company, its vice president emailed Hunter in 2014 describing how they could ‘assert Ukraine’s cultural and economic independence from Russia’ – an unusual goal for a biotech firm.

Emails and defense contract data reviewed by DailyMail.com suggest that Hunter had a prominent role in making sure Metabiota was able to conduct its pathogen research just a few hundred miles from the border with Russia.

The project turned into a national security liability for Ukraine when Russian forces invaded the country last month.

Metabiota has worked in Ukraine for Black & Veatch, a US defense contractor with deep ties to military intelligence agencies, which built secure labs in Ukraine that analyzed killer diseases and bioweapons.

Earlier this month US officials warned congress that ‘Russian forces may be seeking to gain control’ of these ‘biological research facilities’, prompting fears that deadly and even engineered pathogens could fall into Russian hands.

Hunter and his colleagues at his investment firm Rosemont Seneca Technology Partners (RSTP) routinely raised millions of dollars for technology companies, hoping the firms would take off and make them all fortunes.

Metabiota was one of those firms. Emails between Hunter and his colleagues excitedly discuss how the company’s monitoring of medical data could become an essential tool for governments and companies looking to spot outbreaks of infectious diseases.

The president’s son and his colleagues invested $500,000 in Metabiota through their firm Rosemont Seneca Technology Partners.

They raised several million dollars of funding for the company from investment giants including Goldman Sachs.

But emails show Hunter was also particularly involved in Metabiota’s operations in Ukraine.

Hunter’s pitches to investors claimed that they not only organized funding for the firm, they also helped it ‘get new customers’ including ‘government agencies in case of Metabiota’.

He and his business partner Eric Schwerin even discussed subletting their office space to the firm in April 2014, their emails reveal.

That month, Metabiota vice president Mary Guttieri wrote a memo to Hunter outlining how they could ‘assert Ukraine’s cultural and economic independence from Russia’.

‘Thanks so much for taking time out of your intense schedule to meet with Kathy [Dimeo, Metabiota executive] and I on Tuesday. We very much enjoyed our discussion,’ Guttieri wrote.

‘As promised, I’ve prepared the attached memo, which provides an overview of Metabiota, our engagement in Ukraine, and how we can potentially leverage our team, networks, and concepts to assert Ukraine’s cultural and economic independence from Russia and continued integration into Western society.’

Former senior CIA officer Sam Faddis, who has reviewed emails on Hunter’s laptop, told DailyMail.com that the offer to help assert Ukraine’s independence was odd for a biotech executive.

‘It raises the question, what is the real purpose of this venture? It’s very odd,’ he said.

At the time, Hunter was serving as a board member of Ukrainian gas firm Burisma, owned by former top government official and allegedly corrupt billionaire Mikolay Zlochevsky.

Four days after Guttieri’s April 2014 email, Burisma executive Vadym Pozharskyi wrote to Hunter revealing that the then-Vice President’s son had pitched a ‘science project’ involving Burisma and Metabiota in Ukraine.

‘Please find few initial points to be discussed for the purposes of analyzing the potential of this as you called, ‘Science Ukraine’ project,’ Pozharskyi wrote.

‘As I understand the Metabiota was a subcontract to principal contactor of the DoD B&V [Black & Veatch].

‘What kind of partnership Metabiota is looking for in Ukraine? From potential non-governmental player in Kiev? Rebuilt the ties with respective ministries in Ukraine, and on the basis of that reinstate the financing from the B&V? Or they look for partnership in managing projects in Ukraine, PR with Government institutions here, financing of the projects?’

Faddis told DailyMail.com that the attempt to get Metabiota to form a partnership with Burisma was a perplexing and worrying revelation.

‘His father was the Vice President of the United States and in charge of relations with Ukraine. So why was Hunter not only on the board of a suspect Ukrainian gas firm, but also hooked them up with a company working on bioweapons research?’ Faddis said.

‘It’s an obvious Russian propaganda attempt to take advantage of this. But it doesn’t change the fact that there does seem to be something that needs to be explored here.

‘The DoD position is that there’s nothing nefarious here, this is pandemic early warning research. We don’t know for sure that’s all that was going on.

‘But the question still remains: why is Hunter Biden in the middle of all this? Why is the disgraced son of the vice president at the heart of this – the guy with no discernible skills and a cocaine habit.’

Pozharsky said in his email to Hunter that he had encountered such biological research projects before in his former job as a Ukrainian government official, and claimed that B&V worked on ‘similar or the same projects’ as the proposed contract for Metabiota.

Government spending records show the Department of Defense awarded an $18.4million contract to Metabiota between February 2014 and November 2016, with $307,091 earmarked for ‘Ukraine research projects’.

B&V was awarded a further five-year $85million contract in 2012.

Emails and defense contract data reviewed by DailyMail.com suggest that Hunter had a prominent role in making sure Metabiota was able to conduct its pathogen research just a few hundred miles from the border with Russia.

RSTP was a subsidiary of Rosemont Capital, an investment company founded by Hunter and former Secretary of State John Kerry’s stepson Chris Heinz in 2009.

Metabiota has been an official partner of EcoHealth Alliance since 2014, according to its website.

3. Key considerations in the discussion of the biowarfare labs in Ukraine:

  1. ” . . . . [Robert Pope, the director of the Pentagon’s Cooperative Threat Reduction Program] noted that some of the facilities may contain pathogens once used for Soviet-era bioweapons programs, but he emphasized that the Ukrainian labs currently did not have the ability to manufacture bioweapons. . . . In a March interview with the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists . . . . He spoke specifically about the Pentagon’s support of 14 veterinary laboratories that provide Ukraine with sampling and diagnostic abilities to detect infectious diseases. . . .”
  2. The Pentagon’s Cooperative Threat Reduction Program is part of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. the former was involved in researching bats and deadly pathogens: ” . . . . the U.S. military — specifically the Department of Defense’s Cooperative Threat Reduction Program — began funding research involving bats and deadly pathogens, including the coronaviruses MERS and SARS, a year prior in 2017. . . .”
  3. Peter Daszak–of Ukrainian heritage–heads the EcoHealth Alliance, the largest military contractor receiving funds from the Defense Threat Reduction Agency: ” . . . . Meticulous investigation of U.S. government databases reveals that Pentagon funding for the EcoHealth Alliance from 2013 to 2020, including contracts, grants and subcontracts, was just under $39 million. Most, $34.6 million, was from the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), which is a branch of the DOD which states it is tasked to ‘counter and deter weapons of mass destruction and improvised threat networks.’. . .”
  4. Further review of Shi’s research funding [at the Wuhan Institute of Virology] from the Pentagon, via EcoHealth Alliance: ” . . . . Shi Zhengli and her collaborators are also funded by the U.S. military. Peter Daszak’s EcoHealth Alliance currently receives more money from the Department of Defense’s Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) for Scientific Research Combatting Weapons of Mass Destruction than any other military contractor—$15 million (25.575 percent) of the $60.2 million dispersed in the last 6 months. . . .”
  5. The DTRA funding of bat-borne coronovirus research at WIV gains further gravitas: “. . . . A Google Scholar search produced two papers Shi has published that lists DTRA as a funder. To see how the first paper, ‘Comparative Analysis of Bat Genomes Provides Insight into the Evolution of Flight and Immunity,’ is relevant to biological weaponry, it helps to understand the military’s interest in bat immunity. . . .”

 4. Whitney Webb has provided us with troubling insight into Pentagon research–some of which remains classified:

“Bats, Gene Editing and Bioweapons: Recent DARPA Experiments Raise Concerns Amid Coronavirus Outbreak” by Whitney Webb; The Last American Vagabond; 1/30/2020.

  • Ostensibly aimed at preventing pandemics but–very possibly–masking preparations for offensive biological warfare projects. ” . . . . Many of these recent research projects are related to DARPA’s Preventing Emerging Pathogenic Threats, or PREEMPT program, which was officially announced in April 2018. PREEMPT focuses specifically on animal reservoirs of disease, specifically bats, and DARPA even noted in its press release in the program that it ‘is aware of biosafety and biosecurity sensitivities that could arise’ due to the nature of the research. . . . In addition, while both DARPA’s PREEMPT program and the Pentagon’s open interest in bats as bioweapons were announced in 2018, the U.S. military — specifically the Department of Defense’s Cooperative Threat Reduction Program — began funding research involving bats and deadly pathogens, including the coronaviruses MERS and SARS, a year prior in 2017. . . .”
  • Into the DNA of both Russian and Chinese populations. ” . . . . Since the Pentagon began ‘redesigning’ its policies and research towards a ‘long war’ with Russia and China, the Russian military has accused the U.S. military of harvesting DNA from Russians as part of a covert bioweapon program, a charge that the Pentagon has adamantly denied. Major General Igor Kirillov, the head of the Russian military’s radiation, chemical and biological protection unit who made these claims, also asserted that the U.S. was developing such weapons in close proximity to Russian and Chinese borders. China has also accused the U.S. military of harvesting DNA from Chinese citizens with ill intentions, such as when 200,000 Chinese farmers were used in 12 genetic experiments without informed consent. Those experiments had been conducted by Harvard researchers as part of a U.S. government-funded project. . . .”
  • PNAC advocated research into the application of genetic engineering in order to create ethno-specific biological warfare weapons, as discussed by the Project for a New American Century’s Rebuilding America’s Defenses. ” . . . . In what is arguably the think tank’s most controversial document, titled ‘Rebuilding America’s Defenses,’ there are a few passages that openly discuss the utility of bioweapons, including the following sentences: ‘…combat likely will take place in new dimensions: in space, ‘cyber-space,’ and perhaps the world of microbes…advanced forms of biological warfare that can ‘target’ specific genotypes may transform biological warfare from the realm of terror to a politically useful tool.’ . . .”

Meticulous investigation of U.S. government databases reveals that Pentagon funding for the EcoHealth Alliance from 2013 to 2020, including contracts, grants and subcontracts, was just under $39 million. 1. Further review of Shi’s research funding from the Pentagon, via EcoHealth Alliance: ” . . . . 2. More about military collaboration with Shi: ” . . . . In addition to military funding through DTRA, Shi’s paper was co-authored by two U.S. military scientists, Christopher C. Broder and Eric D. Laing of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Department of Microbiology and Immunology. . . .”
  3. A lengthy excerpt of this article is important to consider in this context: “. . . As Boston University microbiologist Thomas Kepler explained to the Washington Post in 2018, the bat’s unique approach to viral infection explains why viruses that transfer from bats to humans are so severe. . . .”
  4. “ . . . . This was the subject of a paper, ‘The Egyptian Rousette Genome Reveals Unexpected Features of Bat Antiviral Immunity,’ that he published with military scientists and DTRA funding.‘A virus that has co-evolved with the bat’s antiviral system is completely out of its element in the human,’ Kepler said. ‘That’s why it is so deadly — the human immune system is overwhelmed by the inflammatory response.’ . . . . .”
  5. “ . . . . The bat immune system responds very differently from ours to viral infection. Instead of attacking and killing an infected cell, which leads to a cascade of inflammatory responses, the bat immune system can starve the virus by turning down cellular metabolism. The bat origin of SARS-CoV‑2 may explain the cytokine storms that are hastening some COVID-19 deaths. . . .”

7a. Critical material on the Ukrainian biolabs is available in FTR#1235.

“What are Russia’s biological weapons claims and what’s actually happening?” by Ed Pilkington; The Guardian; 3/11/2022.

7b. More from FTR#1235:

“Theory on U.S.-Funded Bioweapons Labs Is Baseless” by Linda Qiu; The New York Times; 3/12/2022.

8. As discussed in FTR#1235, documents removed by the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine–but archived by the Wayback Machine–confirm that the DTRA is among the sources of funding for DOD-financed labs in Ukraine.

One must ask the question, also, as to why the Embassy suddenly removed these documents?

9. Note Biden’s central position in the events of the Maidan coup, as well as his aforementioned role as being in charge of U.S. relations to Ukraine.

These positions place Biden right in the center of the very Nazification of Ukraine that he has characterized as “cynical” and “obscene.”

“Sowing Chaos (II);german-foreign-policy.com; 11/27/2017.

In an Italian TV documentary on the February 20, 2014 Maidan massacre, serious accusations were made against several politicians in Ukraine, including influential politicians, who are Germany’s cooperation partners. In the documentary, three Georgians, incriminating themselves for their own participation, report that some of the leaders of the protests, who are today members of Kiev’s parliament, had supplied weapons to the snipers, who, at the time, indiscriminately killed policemen and demonstrators. Officially, this massacre is still being attributed to Ukrainian repressive organs or to unspecified Russians. The Georgians also report that the current speaker of the parliament, Andriy Parubiy, was often seen in the hotel, from where the snipers were firing that day. As “Maidan Commander,” Parubiy had been in charge of controlling armed gangs on that square. The man, whose real role at the time remains unclear, was a guest at a conference held by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and a speaker at NATO events. . . .

. . . . Parubiy comes from the Ukrainian fascist scene. In the early 1990s he was one of the founders of the extreme right-wing Social National Party of Ukraine. [Later re-named Svoboda—D.E.] Since 1996, he was the leader of its militarist street fighting subsidiary “Patriot of Ukraine.” Following his retirement from the party, this experienced protest activist became one of the main organizers of the 2004 “Orange Revolution.” In 2013, he assumed the same function at the Maidan, where he was responsible for none other than security and the “self-defense units,” which were often made up of heavily armed thugs. In the Italian TV documentary, it was reported that Parubiy was going in and out of Hotel Ukraina, from where numerous deadly shots were being fired. Parubiy, claims that the hotel from which these shots were being fired — which was firmly under the Maidan demonstrators’ control — had been taken over “by snipers who arrived from Russia and who were controlled by Russia.”[5] Parubiy, who, according to former US Vice President Joe Biden, was conferring with the US Ambassador to Ukraine, Geoffrey Pyatt throughout the upheavals almost on an hourly basis, has never really had his role in the putsch explained. Following the putsch, he was first appointed to the post of head of the National Security and Defense Council. Since April 14, 2016 he has been serving as President of Ukraine’s Parliament. . . .

1c. Many key ministerial posts in the provisional Ukrainian government were filled by Swoboda and Pravy Sektor, the political heirs to the OUN/B. The supervision of the military and the judicial process was, and is, under the sway of those parties.

Note also, the expressed goal of neutralizing Ukrainian anti-fascist laws, which has been accomplished through the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory and the lustration laws.

“How the Far-Right Took Top Posts in Ukraine’s Power Vacuum”; Channel 4 News [UK]; 3/5/2014.

The man facing down Putin’s aggression as secretary of the Ukrainian National Security and Defence Council is Andriy Parubiy. He oversees national security for the nation having previously served as security commandant during the anti-government protests in Kiev.

Parubiy was the founder of the Social National Party of Ukraine, a fascist party styled on Hitler’s Nazis, with membership restricted to ethnic Ukrainians.

The Social National Party would go on to become Svoboda, the far-right nationalist party whose leader Oleh Tyahnybok was one of the three most high profile leaders of the Euromaidan protests — negotiating directly with the Yanukovych regime.

Overseeing the armed forces alongside Parubiy as the Deputy Secretary of National Security is Dmytro Yarosh, the leader of the Right Sector — a group of hardline nationalist streetfighters, who previously boasted they were ready for armed struggle to free Ukraine. . . .

. . . .The new Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Sych is a member of the far-right Svoboda party, which the World Jewish Congress called on the EU to consider banning last year along with Greece’s Golden Dawn.

The party, which has long called for a “national revolution” in Ukraine, has endured a long march from relative obscurity in the early 90s. Their declaration that Ukraine is controlled by a “Muscovite-Jewish mafia” has raised fears for the safety of the country’s Jewish population.

Svoboda now controls the ecology and agricultural ministry with Andriy Mokhnyk, the deputy head of Svoboda, running ecology and Ihor Shvaika as agriculture minister.

Associate professor at Lund University Pers Anders Rudling, an expert on Ukrainian extremists, told Channel 4 News that there are other ministers who are also closely in the orbit of Svoboda.

“Two weeks ago I could never have predicted this. A neo-fascist party like Svoboda getting the deputy prime minister position is news in its own right.

There are seven ministers with links to the extreme right now. It began with Svoboda getting 10 per cent of the vote in the last election, it is certainly a concern in the long run.” . . . .

. . . . Svoboda member Oleh Makhnitsky is now acting prosecutor general.

The initial actions of the interim government have included forcing making Ukrainian the only official language of the nation and making moves to remove a law which forbids “excusing the crimes of fascism”. . . .

“At All Costs;” german-foreign-policy.com; 2/19/2014.

Yesterday, the day after the German Chancellor held deliberations with two leaders of the Ukrainian opposition, protests in Kiev escalated into bloody confrontations. Demonstrators, unconditionally sponsored by Germany and other western countries for months, began, over the past few days, to arm themselves with firearms and ammunition. Two police officers were shot to death during yesterday’s uprising. This escalation into a bloody confrontation followed on the heels of government compliance with a fundamental demand of the demonstrators, just as it seemed that a de-escalation was about to begin — to the tactical disadvantage of the “Germans’ man” in Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, who has been calling for the president to resign. Klitschko, who flew to Berlin Monday, to discuss the next steps, threatened an even more bloody escalation and declared, that he does not “rule out the use of force in the evacuation of the Maidan.” One of the organizations he is relying on is explicitly named after Nazi collaborators, who had carried out mass-murder of Soviet Jews. Escalation strategies, such as those currently implemented in Kiev, are not alien to German foreign policy.

Firearms and Ammunition

In the course of yesterday’s bloody escalation of the protests, several police officers and demonstrators were killed in Kiev. As was confirmed by news reports, there have been clear indications since some time that some of the demonstrators in Kiev had begun arming themselves. It was reported that for days, a group calling itself the “First Hundred Group in Kiev of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists” were publicly asking for “ammunition or money to buy it.“[1] Just previously, the Berlin-supported leader of the opposition, Vitali Klitschko, called for forming militias. Yesterday, the fascist-interspersed, violence-prone, “Right Block” called on all opponents of the government in the possession of firearms to come to the Maidan. In their attempt to storm the Ukrainian Parliament, government opponents broke through police barricades and set police cars on fire. Heavy clashes erupted between the armed demonstrators and police. Parliamentarians seeking to flee the building were clubbed in their cars; the office of the governing party was set on fire. Whereas demonstrators claim that ambulances were impeded by the police in action, the wounded apparently were not treated because of the barricades set up by the demonstrators.[2] During the night, the situation escalated further.

Collaborators in Nazi Murder

This escalation into a bloody confrontation occurred the day after opposition leaders Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Vitaly Klitschko had had an audience in Berlin’s Chancellery, where they discussed with Angela Merkel the next steps the government opponents should take. The plea by the “First Hundred Group in Kiev of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists” for ammunition could not have not been known to them at the time of their meeting. The plea had not been made clandestinely, but was publicly displayed on a poster. Apparently, neither the Chancellor nor the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had insisted that further offensive protest demonstrations be held back, to avoid the worst, until the arms buildup of the opposition could be reversed. On the contrary, as usual, the German Foreign Minister criticized “the violence” in Kiev, generally and specifically that emanating from state forces. The fact that the demonstrators, under the leadership Berlin’s Klitschko, is largely comprised of fascists, is not even mentioned in the German government declaration. The “First Hundred Group in Kiev of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists,” for example, is a historical reference to the “Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists,” who, at the side of Nazi Germany’s Wehrmacht, helped invade the Soviet Union and, among other crimes, actively participated in Nazi mass murders of Jews. (german-foreign-policy.com reported.[3]) . . .

. . . . The escalation in Kiev came at precisely the point, where the Ukrainian government accepted a central demand of the protestors, declaring an amnesty for the arrested demonstrators. “Signs of a slight relaxation of tensions” were “not to be overlooked,” according to reports in the German media,[6] which then indicated that special units of the police were being pulled back and law enforcement officers had begun dismantling barricades and towing away burned out police cars. However, this also removed the means of leverage for all those who, like “the German’s man” in Kiev, Klitschko — sought to force President Viktor Yanukovych to resign. Out of the escalation into violent confrontation, the German Foreign Minister now concludes that “Europe’s restraint, exercised in its decision to impose personnel sanctions” — on politicians in Kiev — “will certainly now be reconsidered.“[7] Washington recently criticized Berlin and the EU for not having put enough pressure on the Ukrainian government. . . . .
