COMMENT: We probably shouldn’t be surprised, let alone outraged, at the news that actor Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith have donated $150,000 to Louis Farrakhan’s latest PR stunt, a march termed “Justice or Else.”

It may well be that the couple doesn’t know of the disturbing history of Farrakhan.

The casual acceptance of Farrakhan as as credible political currency by the African-American community he has so effectively manipulated is more than a little tragic.

Farrakhan is an African-American fascist implicated in the assassination of Malcom X, whose mantle he has assumed. Among his many grotesque political stances, Farrakhan has run political interference for African nations that continue to enslave black Africans, blaming slavery on, you guessed it, “Da Joos.”

We very much believe that black lives matter and–in that context–it is depressing and outrageous that more of the African-American community doesn’t maintain distance from a man who is a disgrace to the very ethnic group he pretends to defend.

Are we to assume that–for Will Smith and his ilk–Malcom X’s life and the lives of black Africans who continue to endure the yoke of slavery really DON’T matter?

“Will Smith and Jada Smith Put a Cool 150K Toward Louis Farrakhan’s Justice or Else” by Stacy-Ann Ellis; Vibe; 9/9/2015.

Judging by the state of the United States, Washington, D.C. is going to be buzzing with a palpable energy next month. October 10 will mark the 20th anniversary of the historic Million Man March, and Minister Louis Farrakhan plans to commemorate the milestone with droves of #BlackLivesMatter supporters at the Justice or Else! march at the National Mall.

In addition to influencers and changemakers being there on the ground, those who can are reaching into their pockets to help push the movement. Such applies to power couple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, who donated a hefty $150,000 to the movement. Brother Jesse announced the generous donation during a mobilization rally at Philadephia’s Tindley Temple United Methodist Church.

As indicated, Minister Farrakhan is trying to raise at least $1.8 million to fund the march. . . .
