COMMENT: On Friday, July 3rd, Dave presented his first monthly talk for July. Tackling the difficult subject of the history of anti-Semitism, Zionism and fascism, Mr. Emory set forth the history of the profound fascist component in the Zionist movement and its electoral ascent under Menachem Begin.
After detailing the huge emigration from Czarist Russia driven by doctrinaire anti-Semitism and government-sanctioned pogroms, Mr. Emory reviewed the coalescence of the fascist Betar in the 1920s and its collaboration with Mussolini. (The Betar was headed by Vladimir Jabotinsky, whose personal secretary, as well as a pallbearer at his funeral, was Benzion Netanyahu, the father of, and political mentor to, Benjamin Netanyahu.)
After noting Albert Einstein’s 1948 letter to The New York Times warning of the fascism of Menachem Begin’s political party and its violence toward Jewish labor unions and individuals opposed to its policies, Mr. Emory relates the pivotal historical and political dynamic of the Mizrachi.
Sephardic Jews, the Mizrachi were ethnically-cleansed from Arab countries following the establishment of Israel and economically dispossessed.
Fiercely anti-Arab, the Mizrachi experienced institutionalized discrimination from the Ashkenazi elite in Israel. (The Ashkenazi are Jews of European extraction; the Mizrachi are Sephardic Jews, of Middle-Eastern extraction.)
Successfully mobilizing the anti-Arab and anti-Ashkenazi sentiments of the Mizrachi, Begin rode that success to triumph in the elections of 1977. That tactic is essentially the same as that used by Donald Trump in using resentment of “elites” and resentment of “foreigners” to mobilize working-class voters to act against their own economic interests.
The Mizrachi remain a powerful element in the Likud political strategy.
Mr. Emory reviews the fundamental importance of the “Bormann Jews” in understanding the reality of the Middle East.
Topics of Discussion and Analysis Include: Review of Jabotinsky’s political gravitation to Semyon Petliura’s murderous pogromists in Ukraine; Jabotinsky’s article in L’Idea Zionistica (the Italian Zionist publication) that his alliance with Mussolini was one of ideological affiliation, not just realpolitik; The reading of a venomous screed by blogger Alon Mizrahi, exemplifying how anti-Semitism (masquerading as “anti-Zionism”) has become commonplace; Discussion of the Transfer Agreement, a Nazi policy affording wealthy Jews the opportunity to emigrate to Palestine; Review of the Stern Gang and its aim of collaborating with Nazi Germany to drive the British out of Palestine; Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir’s membership in the Stern Gang; Nazi Finance Minister Hjalmar Horace Greeley Schacht’s successful conning of American Jews with regard to Hitler’s intentions toward the Jews; The incorporation of White Russian and Ukrainian exiles into the Gehlen organization; The handling of Lee and Marina Oswald of the Gehlen/White Russian contingent in the Dallas area; The Gehlen/Dulles/Skorzeny mission to Nasser’s Egypt, introducing hardened Nazi/SS veterans to form Nasser’s intelligence service (including Adolf Eichmann); Bormann’s incorporation of Jews into his consummately powerful corporate network; The decisive influence of the Jewish/Bormann corporate connection international affairs; Review of Bush/Baker influence on both sides of the 2000 Camp David negotiations between Yasser Arafat and Ehud Barak; Review of the Skorzeny/Nazi influence on Arafat.
