COMMENT: As mentioned so often here, the Muslim Brotherhood-primary beneficiary of the so-called Arab Spring covert operation–is an Islamic fascist group with alliances stretching back to the Axis powers of World War II and offshoots including al-Qaeda, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
The term “fascist” often fails to accurately convey the true horror of that to which the organization and related elements are dedicated.
Although female genital mutilation (surgical removal of women’s clitorises to prevent “impure thoughts”) was banned by Egyptian law under Mubarak, the Brotherhood has been organizing medical convoys administering the banned practice.
After winning significant participation in the Egyptian parliament in the early part of the last decade, the Brotherhood lobbied hard to pass a law that would have banned sanitary napkin dispensers from women’s bathrooms in public high school. This would have forced female students to remain at home when menstruating. Islam traditionally views women as unclean when menstruating and forbids men from having contact with them at that time.
Will the Brotherhood start to work on that one next?
Never lose sight of the acclamation of the Brotherhood as enlightened by many elements in the West, ranging from the World Bank to the mainstream U.S. media to Cindy “Look Ma, No Brains” Sheehan to the pundits of Pacifica Radio.
Guess we don’t quite understand the term “enlightened.”
CORRECTION: The legalized necrophilia law, according to the Christian Science Monitor, was a hoax planted in the media by former Mubarak political associates. Read the linked article for more detail.
EXCERPT: Egyptian media is reporting on complaints concerning medical convoys organized by the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood’s political party which are alleged to be involved with female circumcision. According to a Bikya Masr report:
A number of Egyptian human rights groups have submitted a communication to the Attorney General Abdel Meguid Mahmoud against the Muslim Brotherhood‘s political arm, the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) to investigate the complaints of people in the village of Abu Aziz in the Minya governorate, south of Cairo, over the existence of a large medical convoy organized by the party that wanders streets and does medical examination on people, including female circumcision, or female genital mutilation, in violation of Egyptian law, conventions and treaties signed by Egypt. In Egypt’s legal code, Female Genital Mutilation is criminalized, as well as the inciting by doctors to convince families of the young girls of the need to agree to circumcise their daughters, ‘as a matter of preserving chastity.’ . . .
The term ‘female circumcision’ is a mild, deceptive descriptor which, in the Western male mental universe, minimizes the crime. The act is more akin to castration and that fact should give men serious pause, that is, if they consider women to be human.
The barbarous hierarchies that define fascism dovetail nicely with the fundamentalist sects of all the major religions.
The bad news is that half of the population of any random Muslim country has an easy way to feel superior to someone and, given no other influence, they naturally gravitate to fascism. The good news is that the other half have an inborn reason to be anti-fascist.
I knew I could come up with at least one hopeful sentence if I tried hard.
Right on Dwight!
The term ‘female genital mutilation’ is much more descriptive.
@Dwight: Can’t help but agree with your view on the term, ‘female circumcision’.....it truly is just a fancy, and not harsh enough, I might add, word to describe a barbarous act.
I do believe there are a growing number of anti-fascists of all stripes in the Middle East, though.....unfortunately, it is definitely an uphill fight, mainly thanks to the fact that the Muslim Brotherhood and other arms of the world crime network, possibly including folks tied to the Bush milieu, have infiltrated the rebel movements and are trying to destroy them from within(so maybe in a few decades, if the MB takeovers are successful in the long term, the Establishment can just point to all this and claim, ‘Hey, Gaddafi, Mubarak, and Al-Assad weren’t so bad after all!’....when they were never truly enemies to begin with.).
@Vanfield: So true!
Brotherhood aids Syrian “rebels” in concert with US imperial aims, from Washington Post:
(Muslim Brotherhood has) “its own supply channel to the rebels, using resources from wealthy private individuals and money from Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia and Qatar, said Mulham al-Drobi, a member of the Brotherhood’s executive committee.”
The Post concluded by noting, “The Pentagon has prepared options for Syria extending all the way to air assaults to destroy the nation’s air defenses.”
