COMMENT: On Saturday, May 2, John (a Silicon Valley AI professional) discoursed about AI.
The recent experience of Crane (a car rental firm) that had its data base erased by an AI was front and center in the discussion.
Topics of Discussion and Analysis Include: AI’s coding potential and the possibility of successively advanced AI coding; What types of data will be going into building LLMs?; The conundrum of people using AI’s that aren’t specifically tailored for their individual needs; The issue of AI’s targeting individuals deemed “most likely to pay” for higher online pricing; The possibility of AI’s being used by “bad actors” for various kinds of mayhem; Google employees’ letter to the firm’s CEO imploring the limiting of military access to the technology; Anthropic’s limiting of corporate access to its latest technology due to the possibility of the LLM’s identifying and exploiting security flaws in the company’s architecture.
NB: John’s overall political views are not necessarily Mr. Emory’s. Dave does not understand the LLM technology and feels that discussion of that dominant and emergent element should be discussed by someone familiar with AI’s.
