Comment: With Latin influence in the U.S. rising with the growth of the American Spanish-speaking population, it is both interesting and significant that the Pope selected a member of the reactionary, fascist-connected Opus Dei to be the Archbishop of Los Angeles. This appointment continues a pattern of convergence between the Vatican and Opus Dei dating to the ascension of John Paul II to the Papacy.
