COMMENT: On Monday, April 13, Dave presented a tutorial on the relationship between the Vatican and fascism.
Beginning with the Vatican’s channeling of money to German Army intelligence agent Adolf Hitler in 1919 through Papal Nuncio to Munich Archbishop Eugenio Pacelli (later Pope Pius XII), the talk traces the manifestation of the institutional relationships stemming from the Lateran Treaty of 1929.
Those relationships are inextricably-linked with the development and operations of fascism at a fundamental level.
Topics of Discussion and Analysis Include: The Lateran Treaty’s establishment as the official state religion of Italy and Mussolini’s “Corporate State;” The Treaty’s establishment of the IOR (The Vatican Bank); The Treaty’s establishment of the Vatican as a Separate State with its own passports and diplomatic status; The Treaty’s benefits to siblings of the Pope (Pius XII: Eugenio Pacelli); Pius XII’s successful encouragement of the Vatican Bank’s investment in Nazi Germany; The Hitler-Pius establishment of the Church Tax, which filled the Church’s coffers in Germany; The Opus Dei organization and its fundamental role in Franco’s fascist government in Spain; The Vatican’s support for the brutal Ustachi regime in Croatia; The financing of the Vatican “Ratlines” using forged UK currency from Operation Bernhard—supervised by Friedrich Schwend; Cardinal Giovanni Battista Montini’s central role in the Ratlines; The beatification of Ustachi parliamentary member Alois Stepinac; The Vatican Bank’s role funneling Nazi money back from Germany, through Switzerland and on to Latin America; The beatification of Father Jose Maria de Balaguer (founder of Opus Dei); Hugh Angleton (father of James Jesus Angleton) and his introduction of Michele Sindona to Cardinal Giovanni Battista Montini (later Pope Paul VI); P‑2 Grandmaster Licio Gelli and his role in the Ratlines; Gelli’s membership in the elite Hermann Goering Divison of the Wehrmacht; The P‑2’s role as a crypto-fascist government of Italy in the postwar period; The role of the P‑2 with the CIA in fomenting “The Strategy of Tension;” Licio Gelli’s role in the founding of the Red Brigades; The large number of key Italian intelligence officers belonging to the P‑2; Vatican Bank advisor Michele Sindona’s role in the collapse of the Franklin National Bank; Sindona’s alleged “suicide” in Jail; Medellin cartel kingpin Pablo Escobar’s alleged banking of funds with the Banco Ambrosiano; Sindona’s charge that the missing funds from Banco Ambrosiano (which collapsed the bank) were used to fight anti-Communism in Latin America; P‑2 member and Vatican financial advisor Roberto Calvi’s alleged “suicide” in London; Lico Gelli’s eventual indictment for Calvi’s murder; The curious death of Pope John Paul I, after he moved to sever the relationship between the Vatican and the P‑2 Lodge; The ascent of reactionary Polish Cardinal Karol Wojtyla to the Papacy; John Paul II’s sponsorship of Nazi banker Herman Abs to oversee a commission looking into corruption at the Vatian Bank; The shooting of John Paul II after his attempts at tamping down conflict with the U.S.S.R.; Former CIA Station Chief in Turkey Paul Henze’s floating of “The Bulgarian Hypothesis;” The Grey Wolves role as the Turkish component of Operation Stay Behind; BND agent Horst Grillmaier’s trafficking of the pistol used by Agca; The role of Latin American branches of the P‑2 in “The Strategy of Tension” in Latin America; Overlap of the P‑2 Lodge with Klaus Barbie’s Bridegrooms of Death fascists in Bolivia; P‑2 involvement with fascist coup attempts in Italy in 1970 and 1973; The role of the Stibam arms-for drug ring with the shooting of the Pope; The role of Stibam with both the Iran-Contra Scandal and the Iraqgate scandal; The relationship of Stibam to the Banco Ambrosiano; The untimely deaths of Stibam kingpin Henry Arsan, alleged Pope-shooting paymaster Bekir Celenk and P‑s member and Italian intelligence official Giuseppe Santovito; The car-bombing of Stibam investigator Carlo Palermo; The role of German Cardinal Josef Frings in the rise of Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger (later Pope Benedict XVI); Ratzinger’s membership in the Hitler Youth; Ratzinger’s appointment of German Knight of Malta and Blohm & Voss board member Ernst von Freyberg to head the Vatican Bank; The possible role of “The Velvet Mafia” (a powerful gay substratum with the Vatican) and the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI); Benedict’s post-resignation residence in Vatican City, rendering him immune to investigation and prosecution.
NB: Black Friar’s Bridge (from which Roberto Calvi allegedly hung himself) is in London.
