“All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake up in the day to find it was vanity, but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.”—T.E. Lawrence (“Lawrence of Arabia”)
COMMENT: It is with great sadness that we report the passing of the brilliant Kevin Coogan at the age of 67. Kevin left us on 2/27/2020 in New York City. One of the seminal political intellects of our time, Kevin left us much to contemplate and with which to engage.
It is impossible to gauge the loss of Kevin, however it is with humble satisfaction that we state that this website/blog is a repository for much of Kevin’s insights and writing. We have done numerous interviews with Kevin on subjects such as Francois Genoud, the Fascist Third Position, the Bank Al-Taqwa, Al-Taqwa director Achmed Huber, fascist components of the Black Metal music genre, as well as his landmark opus Dreamer of the Day: Francis Parker Yockey and the Postwar Fascist International.
In addition, we have included long text excerpts and entire articles culled from various publications for which Kevin wrote over the years.
Some of those articles:
- “The Mysterious Achmed Huber: Friend to Hitler, Allah and Bin Laden?”
- “Report on Islamists, the Far Right and Al Taqwa”
- “Achmed Huber, the Avalon Gemeinschaft and the Swiss ‘New Right’ ”
The “For The Record” category contains many programs featuring text excerpts, analytical discussion and interviews with Kevin, including presentation of his groundbreaking article on the Sovereign Military Order of Malta (“The Knights of Malta”), recapping material in a Miscellaneous Archive Show recorded in 1982.
The “Anti-Fascist Archives” contain contributions by Kevin on the former World Anti-Communist League and links to the Iran-Contra Scandal, the Italian P‑2 Lodge and the shooting of Pope John Paul II.
Diligent users of this website should be sure to access two programs recorded in 1987– Miscellaneous Archive Shows M‑19 and M‑21, highlighting a Mother Jones cover story by Kevin and Martin A. Lee about the Third Position.
Most importantly (as mentioned above) we have archived much discussion with Kevin and much text as well devoted to Dreamer of the Day. Mr. Emory considers this to be one of the best books about fascism and a “must read.”
With Steve Bannon–a devotee of Julius Evola–directing the anti-China destabilization effort, Kevin’s insights into Evola remain only too relevant.
Thank you Dave, for bringing the passing of Kevin Coogan to our attention. Without a doubt, he is one of the most important interviews you’ve ever done.
