COMMENT: On Sat­ur­day, July 25^th, Dave was priv­i­leged to be joined by two guests, both of whom gave their views of the late Mae Brus­sell. Mae was a close per­son­al friend of Mr. Emory’s and a pro­found pro­fes­sion­al influ­ence.

Dave not­ed at the top of the talk that it is, past a point, impos­si­ble for him to be alto­geth­er objec­tive about Mae. She died in 1988 and her lega­cy has been bad­ly mud­died.

Brad heard about Mae after she died, gain­ing knowl­edge about her from hav­ing lis­tened to a radio pro­gram in Cana­da.

“Recluse” is a researcher and pod­cast­er, who heard about Mae through one of the milieux that we exam­ine in the discussion—that of Fer­al House. (Mr. Emory recent­ly did a three-part series about Fer­al House and its Nazi fel­low-trav­el­ing pub­lish­er Adam Par­frey. It should be not­ed that Par­frey passed away in 2018. Fer­al House was tak­en over by his sis­ter. Mr. Emory knows noth­ing about her pol­i­tics and this pro­gram should not be tak­en as an indict­ment of her or her oper­a­tions with the busi­ness.)

Recluse high­light­ed what might be termed a rel­a­tivis­tic milieu in which Mae was pre­sent­ed, one which fea­tured peo­ple loose­ly asso­ci­at­ed with peo­ple like Ker­ry Thorn­ley, one of Oswald’s bud­dies in the Marine Corps and sus­pect­ed by New Orleans Dis­trict Attor­ney Jim Gar­ri­son of being involved with the assas­si­na­tion of JFK.
