FTR#1426: Adam Parfrey, Boyd Rice and Counter-Culture Fascism, Part 2

Intro­duc­tion: The sec­ond pro­gram of a three-part series, this broad­cast fur­ther devel­ops the Nazi and White Suprema­cist efforts and ide­ol­o­gy under­pin­ning Adam Par­frey, a pub­lish­er whose fas­cist out­look and pro­fes­sion­al works have flown large­ly below the radar.

The pro­gram also intro­duces the fas­cist ide­ol­o­gy and Nazi-fel­low trav­el­ing of Par­frey’s Abraxas Clique asso­ciate Boyd Rice.

An impor­tant recent book by Spencer Sun­shine details the efforts of the two most impor­tant mem­bers of the Abraxas Clique, a neo­fas­cist “think tank,” that aimed at the cre­ation and dis­sem­i­na­tion of “coun­ter­cul­tur­al fas­cism.”

Com­bin­ing a fix­a­tion with, and ide­al­iza­tion of, Charles Man­son with ele­ments of Satanism and tra­di­tion­al Nazi and White Suprema­cist rhetoric and ide­ol­o­gy, Par­frey, Rice and Abraxas helped mint a sig­nif­i­cant, though large­ly over­looked, stra­tum in the con­tem­po­rary and ongo­ing fas­cist polit­i­cal land­scape.

These con­nec­tions and Boyd Rice’s out­look and pro­nounce­ments will be fur­ther fleshed out in the third pro­gram in this series.

4.Highlighting Par­frey’s big­otry against Lati­nos and his antic­i­pa­tion of “The Great Replace­ment The­o­ry” that has become a watch­word in the sec­ond Trump regime, Par­frey wrote to [impor­tant Nazi the­o­reti­cian and prac­ti­tion­er James] Mason:

In Kevin Coogan’s arti­cle [‘How Black is Black Metal/’] one of the end­notes said ‘Fer­al House types hat­ed women like Andrea Juno.’ Par­frey replied that ‘Not one word has ever been print­ed in a Fer­al House book insult­ing or even dis­cussing Andrea Juno.’ Coogan’s reply was to quote an inter­view where Par­frey him­self called Juno ‘a psy­chot­ic cunt.’. . .”

Rest In Peace, Kevin Coogan, and Thanks So Much!

It is with great sad­ness that we report the pass­ing of the bril­liant Kevin Coogan at the age of 67. Kevin left us on 2/27/2020 in New York City. One of the sem­i­nal polit­i­cal intel­lects of our time, Kevin left us much to con­tem­plate and with which to engage. Most impor­tant of his many con­tri­bu­tions was his land­mark opus “Dream­er of the Day: Fran­cis Park­er Yock­ey and the Post­war Fas­cist Inter­na­tion­al,” the sub­ject of numer­ous inter­views and pro­grams fea­tur­ing lengthy text excerpts from the book. In addi­tion, we archived numer­ous arti­cles by Kevin includ­ing: “The Mys­te­ri­ous Achmed Huber: Friend to Hitler, Allah and Bin Laden?”; “Report on Islamists, the Far Right and Al Taqwa”; and “Achmed Huber, the Aval­on Gemein­schaft and the Swiss ‘New Right’ ”.
