We recall the tsunami of praise, Hosannas and Hallelujahs gushing forth from the world’s media and political punditry. Hailing the “Arab Spring” as the dawning of a new enlightenment in that part of the world, they missed the boat–fundamentally. We, on the other hand, were warning that this phenomenon was a Nazi operation, having been initiated by powerful corporate forces in the second administration of George W. Bush, it had its trigger with the WikiLeaks milieu–itself a far-right, Nazi-linked entity, as we demonstrated in FTR’s 732 and #745. (In addition to the documentation in the original WikiLeaks/Arab Spring series, see the article excerpted below.) Before delving into details, an excellent overview of recent events in Egypt was provided in an English-language blog by a citizen of that tortured country. The contradictions and deadly undercurrents of unfolding events were eloquently summed up by Mahmoud Salem in “Imagine.”
In a fun change of pace, we’re going to have a post that’s light on excerpts and heavy on ranty linkiness. That might not actually be fun but it’s not like there’s a robot standing over your shoulder forcing you to read this. Yet.
Many commentators have observed the ominous parallels between our present fiscal crisis and the economic factors that led to the Great Depression and the rise of fascism, although few note the connections between consummately powerful political and economic forces and the sad, tragic events that resulted from their policies.
Descended from political/economic interests that supported Hitler, tried to overthrow Franklin Roosevelt and did kill JFK, the GOP manifests the heritage of decades of covert operations that brought Third Reich veterans into the American political mainstream. The upcoming election may determine the fate of our civilization.
Generations of the Netherlands’ Royal Family link to the Third Reich and its postwar manifestations. Prince Bernhard was SS, an IG Farben spy and a traitor to the Allied Cause. Was he “the Traitor of Arnhem?”
As America remembers its dead from fallen wars, it is incumbent upon us to remember what caused those wars, and for what ideals our soldiers fought. The political and economic forces that precipitated World War II are only too much with us today, and the commentary by Dorothy Thompson and James Stewart Martin has never been more relevant.
Anti-Putin Russian coalition includes prominent fascists, including Alexei Navalny. One wonders what effect this will have on the largely Muslim Caucasus?
Comment: The “deficit reduction” proposals now being presented by the “bipartisan” commission on the budget are, simply put, a frontal assault on the New Deal, the American people and the country itself. Former GOP senator (Wyoming) Alan Simpson has sounded a battle cry to gut social security, raise taxes for the bottom 80% of the […]
Koch brothers espouse “Corporatism”, represented as “Freedom”; billionaire financiers of institutions that generate GOP policy, Kochs pervert public policy to serve their privatge interests; grass roots “Tea Partiers” working against their own interests.
Comment: In FTR #709, we highlighted the recent electoral success of the Hungarian Jobbik Party. A recent Foreign Policy article further detailed that disturbing phenomenon. “Rise of the Hungarian Right” by Michael Jordan; Foreign Policy; 7/13/2010. While running for a parliamentary seat in Hungary’s April elections, far-right candidate Gabor Vona made one campaign promise that […]
