Resuming our analysis of “The Hitler Legacy,” our next interview with Peter Levenda continues discussion of the rehabilitation of “jihadis as proxy warriors” by Germany in the run-up to, and during, the Second World War. Having assumed the position of Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini took advantage of resentment on the Arab street and mobilized it against the British and Jews. Beginning with pogroms during the 1920’s and 1930’s, Husseini’s activism blossomed into full-fledged participation in Nazi military compaigns, including recruiting Waffen SS units in Muslim territories. After discussing some similarities between Nazism and global jihadist ideology, Peter highlights the Grand Mufti’s post war work with the PLO and other Muslim political and military organizations. Joining the Grand Mufti were numeerous SS men and Nazi technical experts, there to continue their war against the Jews and to fight against Communism on behalf of Western intelligence agencies. In the Middle East, as in other countries where they were recruited as anti-Communist cadre, the Third Reich alumni pursued a Nazi agenda, spawning new Nazi political and military formations. Peter notes that they are not “neo”-Nazis, at all. Western intelligence helped foster postwar SS-assistance organizations such as Die Spinne and ODESSA, shepherded to a considerable extent by SS Colonel Otto Skorzeny.
Continuing our discussion with Peter Levenda about his remarkable book “The Hitler Legacy,” the broadcast details what the author calls “The exit strategy.” Facing military defeat, the Third Reich knew that Nazism would not die with the Allied victory, but could continue the struggle from far-flung places. Moving both SS officers and vast amounts of capital abroad, the Reich took advantage of the ideological resonance that existed between the NSDAP and both anti-Communist and anti-Semitic elements abroad, including and especially, the Nazi underground that existed in the United States. Using the Vatican “ratlines” and their powerful business connections with Western (especially American) corporations and associated law firms, SS men went overseas, where the vast amounts of capital belonging to the Bormann flight capital network sustained their activities. Program highlights include: the role of the Bank for International Settlements in the Nazi financial diaspora; the formation and operation of the Reinhard Gehlen spy network; analysis of “The Red House Document,” including the provision by German corporations to fund the Nazi party underground after the war; brief discussion of the Grand Mufti and his alliance with the Third Reich.
A widely reported story concerns the “20th [9/11] hijacker” Zaccharias Moussaoui’s accusations that a number of prominent Saudi princes helped finance al-Qaeda, including Prince Alwaleed, the fabulously wealthy investor who was the second largest stockholder in Ruppert Murdoch’s Newscorp. The day after the report surfaced, we learn that Alwaleed sold almost all of his stock in the firm. We wonder if the two events might be connected? After a badly-compromised “investigation,” the political odyssey of George W. Bush associate Sami al-Arian (“Sammy the Aryan”) has taken another turn. One of the founders of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (pictured at right), Al-Arian is going to be deported. The investigation of al-Arian led to the Operation Green Quest raids of 3/20/2002. Had that investigation been properly undertaken, it would have exposed profound links between the Bush White House, the GOP and political “super lobbyist” Grover Norquist. In the event, al-Arian’s case was eclipsed and ultimately buried. Author Peter Levenda has posted an article (excerpted from his recent book) that encapsulates significant elements of discussion presented by Mr. Emory and featured on this website. Noting Imperial Germany’s use of Islamic proxy warriors during the First World War and Nazi Germany’s incorporation of the same stratagem, Levenda notes that Nazi elements have continued to use Muslim proxy warfare to advance the goals of what Mr. Emory calls the Underground Reich. Having incorporated many important elements of Nazi Germany’s national security establishment into its own after World War II, the United States has co-opted the tactic of proxy war. To its detriment, the U.S. has failed to grasp that the Underground Reich and its Islamist proxies have their own agendas. Those agendas feature the defeat of the United States as a centerpiece of long-term strategy. Concluding with an examination of recent American military involvement, the program notes that much of what we are doing actually benfits Germany and occurs in areas formerly belonging to the Ottoman Empire.
A video of ISIS (ISIL) followers swearing allegiance to the organization features a striking episode at about 1:05. The acolytes engage in some very “un-Islamic” gesturing (at right.) It graphically illustrates a dynamic we have spoken of so often. Central to an understanding of political conflicts throughout the 20th and 21st century is the concept of the Earth Island (also called “the World Island.”) This area is populated largely by Muslims, and political affiliation with, and/or control of, those population groups has long been seen as fundamental to domination of the Earth Island–that, in turn, is the geopolitical key to controlling the world. Imperial Germany made good use of Islamists as proxy warriors during the First World War, and the Third Reich developed and used that strategy extensively, in both its above-ground and underground phases. Western intelligence–the CIA and derivative organizations such as the Safari Club–have made extensive use of this stratagem during the Cold War and after.
An appellate court has cleared the way for families of 9/11 victims to sue Saudi Arabia, focusing on, among other things, charities used to fund al-Qaeda. IF this investigation were to proceed as far as it might, Grover Norquist, Karl Rove and others in the GOP/Bush milieu would come under scrutiny, as would Francois Genoud, Youssef Nada and the Underground Reich. In addition, there is renewed focus on the redacted 28 pages of the Join Intelligence Committee Inquiry, which implicate Saudi Arabia.
For some time, we’ve covered one of George W. Bush’s Muslim Brotherhood political associates Sami al-Arian. The Operation Green Quest investigation into the financing of terrorist groups (including al-Qaeda, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad) stemmed from an investigation into Sammy al-Arian (“Sammy the Aryan,” as we call him.) One of the leaders of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (pictured at right), al-Arian is now turning out in support of the ousted Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood.
Chief of the Hamburg police during a period in which German intelligence had members of the Hamburg cell of 9/11 hijackers under surveillance, Ernst Uhrlau was appointed special adviser to the Chancellor on intelligence matters in 1998. He became head of the BND in 2005. During Uhrlau’s tenure as BND director, files on BND officers with SS and Gestapo backgrounds were shredded.
This program highlights German/Underground Reich connections to both the 9/11 attacks and the Oklahoma City bombing. Of particular significance is Ernst Uhrlau: chief of Hamburg police at the time German intelligence had the 9/11 cell under surveillance, appointed coordinator of intelligence for the German chancellor in 1998 and head of the BND in 2005. The son of Chancellor Kohl’s chief of staff may have masterminded the Oklahoma City bombing and BND may well have been manipulating Mohamed Atta.
