It should come as no surprise that the NSA would target Germany as a “hot spot” for electronic surveillance. We call attention to Ernst Uhrlau, chief of police in Hamburg during the time German intelligence had the Hamburg cell of 9/11 hijackers under surveillance, later special adviser to Chancellor Helmut Kohl on intelligence matters (the son of whose chief of staff may have masterminded the Oklahoma City bombing), and eventually head of the BND! UPDATED ON 10/30/2013.
Two investigations may well dovetail. We’ve covered the 9/11 attacks for years, beginning with analysis well before the events themselves. We note, also, our recent posts about the intelligence-linked National Socialist Union neo-Nazi group in Germany. Germany Watch has presented a working hypothesis that NSU’s murders were covering-up operational elements in the attacks.
The news cycle in this country is dominated by coverage of the Boston bombings. This is predictable. So is the tendency toward simplistic and/or one-dimensional analysis. Generally, we’re hearing: It was the “government,” “home-grown domestic (i.e. right-wing, Aryan types) terrorists,” or “Islamic terrorists.” As this post indicates, the divisions among these are not nearly so simple.
Earlier this month, the Tea Party/GOP Right demonstrated their hypocrisy, as well as the degree of solidarity between the Islamic fascists of the Muslim Brotherhood and the GOP. The Jihad Watch website received the “People’s Choice Award” at the 2013 Conservative Political Action Committee. The awarding of the honor was blocked, however by the Tea Party Republicans, who would only consent to give the award if the administrators of the site would agree not to criticize Grover Norquist.
Israeli intelligence warned the CIA of impending “large scale” attacks by Bin Laden network. Two officers were sent to Washington in August, 2001 to warn U.S. Is this part of the reason Truthers, neo-Nazis, Saudis, Bushies and others blame the attacks on Mossad?
German presidential candidates a study in contrasts–one a committed anti-fascist, the other sounding revisionist themes about World War II.
