FTR#1214 The Narco-Fascism of Chiang Kai-shek and the Kuomintang, Part 21

This program concludes the series.

Introducing the expansion of American experience with Chiang and his Kuomintang fascists into U.S. Cold War policy in Asia, we present Sterling Seagrave’s rumination about Stanley Hornbeck, a State Department flack who became: “. . . . the doyen of State’s Far Eastern Division. . . .”

Hornbeck “ . . . . had only the most abbreviated and stilted knowledge of China, and had been out of touch personally for many years. . . . He withheld cables from the Secretary of State that were critical of Chiang, and once stated that ‘the United States Far Eastern policy is like a train running on a railroad track.  It has been clearly laid out and where it is going is plain to all.’ It was in fact bound for Saigon in 1975, with whistle stops along the way at Peking, Quemoy, Matsu, and the Yalu River. . . .”

Next, the program highlights key aspects of the career of Ching-Ling Soong, aka Mme. Sun Yat-sen.

Sister of Ai-Ling (aka Mme. H.H. Kung), Mae-ling (aka Mme. Chiang Kai-shek) and T.V., T.A. and T.L. Soong, she had a long and remarkable career.

For the purposes of this description, we re-print material from FTR#1202.

The fate of the Third Force or Third Option formed by Mme. Sun Yat-sen (nee Ching-ling Soong) and Teng Yen-ta, a persistent critic of Chiang Kai-shek, was predictable.

Disillusioned with Communism after a sojourn in Moscow, Mme. Sun Yat-sen partnered with Teng Yen-ta, who recognized Chiang’s fascism and, yet, felt that the Chinese Communist Party (at that point in time) was overly loyal to Moscow and wasn’t doing enough for the Chinese peasantry.

Both Ching-ling and Teng Yen-ta sought an alternative to both Kuomintang fascism and the Chinese Communist Party.

Finding the democratic socialism proposed by Ching-ling and Teng Yen-ta unacceptable, Chiang had the British and American police authorities arrest him in the International Concession in Shanghai, after which he was tortured for many months.

Ching-ling was reported to have visited Chiang to plead for Teng Yen-ta’s release. Chiang had  already dealt with him in characteristic fashion: “ . . . . Days earlier, on November 29, 1931, nearly a year after his arrest, Ten Yen-ta had been taken from his cell at Chiang’s command and was slowly strangled with a wire. The executioner was said to be famous for keeping victims alive for half an hour while he tightened his grip. In his office, Chiang had remained silent while Ching-ling pleaded for a man already dead, enjoying the spectacle of her momentary vulnerability. . . .”

Next, we recount Mme. Sun’s encounter with a Kuomintang/Green Gang agent.

After rebuffing his political approach, Mme. Sun Yat-sen demolished his  political persona.

. . . . “Soong: ‘There is only one way to silence me, Mr. Tai. Shoot me or imprison me. If you don’t then it simply means that you admit you are not wrongly accused. But whatever you do, do it openly like me, don’t . . . surround me with spies.’

Tai: ‘I shall call again upon my return from Nanking.

Soong: ‘Further conversations would be useless—the gulf between us is too wide.’

As Tai Ch’i‑tao and his wife left, the old man turned and—his tongue flicking over dry lips (he was a very nervous man)—hissed out a parting bit of venom: ‘If you were anyone but Madame Sun, we would cut your head off.’

Ching-ling smiled. ‘If you were the revolutionaries you pretend to be, you’d cut it off anyway.’. . .”

Information presented by Sterling Seagrave–of which Mr. Emory was not previously aware–indicates that the CCP is more nuanced than Americans have been led to believe.

Although resisting membership in the Communist Party and attempting to re-start the Third Option on the eve of Chiang’s capitulation and flight to Taiwan, Mme. Sun Yat-sen was installed as one of three Vice-Chairmen of the government.

Again, this is not something of which Mr. Emory was aware until reading this book.

“ . . . . Ching-ling sold many of her remaining possessions to support programs of the China Welfare League she had founded. In 1948, with the Chiang regime ready to flee and the Communists on their way to victory, she took part in a last attempt to organize an alternative to both communism and fascism—a new version of the Third Force. It was called the Revolutionary Committee, and Ching-ling was named its honorary chairman. Its constituency was the powerless. . . .”

“ . . . . When the People’s Republic came into existence, Ching-ling became one of the three non-Communist political leaders chosen as Vice-Chairmen of the Central Government in Peking. . . .”

Mme. Sun (Ching-ling Soong) manifested a strongly independent ideological stance, which, while anti-fascist and anti-imperialist, sought (as we have seen) a “Third Force” or “Third Option” between Communism and Chiang’s narco-fascism.

That independence of mind, demonstrated through decades of social struggle, plus outright jealousy on the part of Madame Mao led to defamation and persecution during the disastrous Cultural Revolution, with Mme. Sun narrowly escaping the ravages of the Red Guard.

“ . . . . During the Red Guard rampages of the 1960’s, the job of protecting Madame Sun became nerve-racking. Posters appeared denouncing her, and it was not safe for her to go anywhere. . . .”

“ . . . . In the summer of 1966, Premier Chou En-lai was forced to warn the Red Guards to cease their verbal attacks on Madame Sun, and to stop putting up posters accusing her of being a bourgeois reactionary. On September 21, 1966, in Shanghai where the Red Guard movement frequently got out of control, a mob stormed Ching-ling’s house on the Avenue Joffre and looted it. Ching-ling was not in Shanghai at the time. She let the incident pass without comment. Her chief adversary was the wife of Chairman Mao, who apparently resented the fact that Ching-ling was always mentioned as the woman of highest rank in China.

“ . . . . When the Red Guard movement abated, and Madame Mao and the celebrated Gang of Four were tried in a people’s court as counterrevolutionaries, Ching-ling’s life settled back into a tranquil twilight. . . .”

“ . . . . On May 16, 1981, Soong Ching-ling was named honorary President of China. . . . She succumbed to leukemia on May 29, 1981, in her Peking home. . . . But, in an interview once with writer Han Suyin, Ching-ling put into words the legacy she had learned most bitterly from the time of the Soongs:

The Soong Dynasty concludes with an epilogue which is noteworthy in several respects. The prose is of a character that one does not see anymore. Eloquent, poignant, passionate and yet, at the same time, bitingly, ironically humorous, Seagrave’s writing is remarkable in, and of, itself.

Beyond the prose, the epilogue is remarkable for the elaborate historical metaphor that it presents: discussion of the corruption and brutality of the late Manchu Dynasty and the Dowager Empress, whom Seagrave refers to as “The Old Buddha.” (He later published a volume about her reign titled The Dragon Lady.)

Seagrave’s discussion of the Dowager Empress’s intrigues and brutal murder of the Pearl Concubine constitutes a metaphor for the lethal, consummately corrupt government of Chiang Kai-shek and his puppet masters, the Soongs.

As foreign armies were approaching Peking during the Boxer Rebellion, “The Old Buddha” made arrangements to flee the palace known as The Forbidden City, donning a disguise and taking the Emperor with her.

When the Emperor sought to remain in Peking to negotiate with the foreign armies and enlisted the assistance of his favorite consort—the Pearl Concubine—in order to persuade the Dowager Empress.

The Pearl Concubine had resisted conforming to the will of the Dowager Empress, and “The Old Buddha” took this occasion to eliminate this element of resistance to her palace intrigues, a longtime obstacle to her political orders.

“ . . . . The Pearl Concubine had been a thorn in the Dowager’s side, interfering with palace intrigues by giving independent advice to the Emperor. It was time to dispose of her. The Dowager bellowed orders. Two eunuchs seized the Pearl Concubine. In terror, the Emperor went to his knees and begged for her life. But the eunuchs carried the struggling girl to the narrow well by the Palace of Peace and Longevity, turned her upside down in her shimmering cocoon of silks, and flung her shrieking into its maw. Because the well was so narrow, the eunuchs jumped on her to force her down. . . . .”

Sterling Seagrave then sets forth the murderous nature of the late Manchu rule of the Dowager Empress—a metaphor for the bloody corruption of Chiang’s fascist government.

“ . . . . The Forbidden City is a graveyard of souls, drowned, beheaded, throttled, flayed alive, to silence them in the interests of state. Here, murder was not an act of passion but an instrument of rule. Judicial murder. Imperial murder. Silence by assassination. To stifle those who would interfere, who would object, who would question, who would say no. . . .”

Sterling Seagrave then pivots to the Soong family: “ . . . . The others passed through life like a team of pickpockets through a carnival crowd, doing what they did best, while the rubes watched geeks bite heads off live chickens. There are those who insist that May-ling remained innocent throughout by virtue of her tunnel vision. It is not for me to say, except that these people also believe in virgin birth.

“They were a family that could stand together in front of a mirror (Ching-ling missing from the group by choice), all casting reflections except Ai-ling. She cast no reflection at all. What medieval conclusion can we draw? . . . .”

Seagrave concludes with a reference to Harry Truman’s launching of an FBI investigation of the Soong family. (We discussed this in FTR#1205 .)

“ . . . . Of all the people who might have acted, I wondered why Harry Truman did nothing. . . . . Perhaps he concluded that so many prominent people were involved it would not be good for the nation as they say. So nearly everyone stayed silent. Nobody spoke for the victims. Who, then, will speak for the concubine in the well? . . .”

The program reviews the death threats and intimidation that the authors of Gold Warriors received over the publication of this and other books.

“. . . . Many people told us this book was historically important and must be published—then warned us that if it were published, we would be murdered. An Australian economist who read it said, ” I hope they let you live.” He did not have to explain who “they” were. . . .

“. . . .

We have been threatened with murder before. When we published The Soong Dynasty we were warned by a senior CIA official that a hit team was being assembled in Taiwan to come murder us. He said, ‘I would take this very seriously, if I were you.’ We vanished for a year to an island off the coast of British Columbia. While we were gone, a Taiwan hit team arrived in San Francisco and shot dead the Chinese-American journalist Henry Liu.

When we published The Marcos Dynasty we expected trouble from the Marcos family and its cronies, but instead we were harassed by Washington. Others had investigated Marcos, but we were the first to show how the U.S. Government was secretly involved with Marcos gold deals. We came under attack from the U.S. Treasury Department and its Internal Revenue Service, whose agents made threatening midnight phone calls to our elderly parents. Arriving in New York for an author tour, one of us was intercepted at JFK airport, passport seized, and held incommunicado for three hours. Eventually the passport was returned, without a word of explanation. When we ran Freedom of Information queries to see what was behind it, we were grudgingly sent a copy of a telex message, on which every word was blacked out, including the date. The justification given for this censorship was the need to protect government sources, which are above the law.

During one harassing phone call from a U.S. Treasury agent, he said he was sitting in his office watching an interview we had done for a Japanese TV network—an interview broadcast only in Japanese, which we had never seen. After publishing The Yamato Dynasty, which briefly mentioned the discovery that is the basis for Gold Warriors, our phones and email were tapped. We know this because when one of us was in a European clinic briefly for a medical procedure, the head nurse reported that “someone posing as your American doctor” had been on the phone asking questions.

When a brief extract of this book was published in the South China Morning Post in August 2001, several phone calls from the editors were cut off suddenly. Emails from the newspaper took 72 hours to reach us, while copies sent to an associate nearby arrived instantly. In recent months, we began to receive veiled death threats.

What have we done to provoke murder? To borrow a phrase from Jean Ziegler, we are “combating official amnesia.” We live in dangerous times, like Germany in the 1930’s when anyone who makes inconvenient disclosures about hidden assets can be branded a “terrorist” or a “traitor. . . .”

Despite the best efforts of the American and Japanese governments to destroy, withhold, or lose documentation related to Golden Lily, we have accumulated thousands of documents, conducted thousands of hours of interviews, and we make all of these available to readers of this book on two compact discs, available from our website www.bowstring.net [no longer online–D.E.] so they can make up their own minds. We encourage others with knowledge of these events to come forward. When the top is corrupt, the truth will not come from the top. It will emerge in bits and pieces from people like Jean Ziegler and Christophe Meili, who decided they had to ‘do something.’ As a precaution, should anything odd happen, we have arranged for this book and all its documentation to be put up on the Internet at a number of sites. If we are murdered, readers will have no difficulty figuring out who ‘they’ are. . . .”

Sterling’s fears about Opus Dei and his and Peggy’s proximity to Spain–the seat of that organization’s power  turned out to be prescient. On Christmas Day of 2011, he narrowly escaped assassination while returning home. He felt that the attempt on his life may well have been motivated by the publication of the Spanish language edition of Gold Warriors.

. . . . Seagrave will be remembered warmly by Verso staff for his lively correspondence. In a 2011 email, he described an attempt on his life that followed the Spanish publication of Gold Warriors:

“A hired thug tried to murder me on the serpentine road leading up to our isolated house on the ridge overlooking Banyuls-sur-Mer, and nearly succeeded.  (We’ve had several serious death threats because of our books.) The road was very narrow in places, with tarmac barely the width of my tires. At 10 pm Christmas night, in 2011, after visiting Peggy at a clinic in Perpignan, as I turned the final hairpin, I clearly saw a guy sitting on a cement block path leading up to a shed for the uphill vineyard. He was obviously waiting for me because we were the only people living up there on that mountain shoulder.  He jumped up, raised a long pole, and unfurled a black fabric that totally blocked the narrowest turn ahead of me. I tried to swerve to avoid him (not knowing whether he also had a gun), and my right front drive wheel went off the tarmac and lost traction in the rubble.

The car teetered and then plunged down through a steep vineyard on my right side, rolling and bouncing front and rear, 100 meters into a ravine where it finally came to rest against a tree. Thanks to my seatbelt and air bag, I survived. I don’t know how many concussions I got on the way down, but I managed to squeeze out the driver’s door and fell onto the rubble. I got up on my left hand and knees, but my right shoulder caved in. (Turned out later that I had fractured my right shoulder, and all the ligaments there had torn loose.) I passed out and remained unconscious for 14 hours.  After 12 hours, a vigneron driving up the next morning saw my wrecked car and body.

He called the Gendarmerie on his portable, and I was hoisted out unconscious by a chopper and flown to an old Victorian-era hospital in Perpignan where they did nothing but keep me doped on morphine for two weeks — no X‑rays or serious medical care.  Finally, friends in Banyuls got me (and Peggy) transferred to a clinic on the beach there, where Peggy and I shared a room while we both recovered. I got my right shoulder ligaments fixed by an excellent surgeon in Perpignan.  (Peggy did not know it then but she had an early stage of cancer.) I still have a hairline fracture in my right shoulder.

I attribute the event to staying too long in one place, so the spooks eventually tracked me down.  We had been living for years on a sailboat, moving from Holland to Britain to Portugal to Spain and finally to France, where we found — in Catalonia — an ideal village at the Mediterranean end of the Pyrenees. In retrospect, I’m sorry I agreed to move ashore for Peggy’s sake, and sold the beautiful 43-foot boat I had  built from a bare hull. It was very comfortable, but Peggy wanted a house. We never did find the right house in Banyuls — so we spent 18 years restoring a 13th century Templar ruin on the shoulder of the mountain.  Made me an easy target. Definitely a bad decision. I think it was the Spanish edition of Gold Warriors that made me the easy target.

In FTR#‘s 1107, 1108 and 1111, we set forth the highly suspicious circumstances surrounding the death (and probable murder) of author Iris Chang. A ringing endorsement by Ms. Chang graces the cover of Gold Warriors.

Ms. Chang’s signature work–The Rape of Nanking–detailed one of the initial events in Japan’s looting of China during World War II, an act which the U.S. signed off on and profited from in the postwar years.

At the time of her altogether suspicious death, she was working on a book about the Bataan Death March, at the very time that survivors of that event and other Japanese World War II atrocities were suing Japanese zaibatsus that had employed U.S. POW’s as slave labor.

The suit was rebuffed by U.S. courts.

When Mr. Emory interviewed Sterling Seagrave in 2009, he declined to discuss Ms. Chang’s death, which he, too, believed to be murder.

FTR#1213 The Narco-Fascism of Chiang Kai-shek and the Kuomintang, Part 20

This program undertakes a speculative look at the life and family history of Barack Obama, analyzed in the context of the American Deep State.

It was under Obama that the “pivot to Asia” took place, with his then Vice-President Joe Biden now pursuing the anti-China policy with a consuming vigor.

(We note, also, Avril Haines, who was Obama’s Deputy Director of Central Intelligence, then worked as a paid consultant for Peter Thiel’s Palantir firm, was a key participant in Event 201, served as a key member of Biden’s transition team and, ultimately, became Director of National Intelligence, a position from which she helped initiate the momentum to legitimize the “Lab-Leak Theory” of the origin of Covid.)

The central element in our analysis is the professional and political circumstances surrounding the Obama family’s involvement in Indonesia in the immediate aftermath of the slaughter.

The available information suggests that the benign interpretation of the Obama family’s circumstances is not accurate.

Those circumstances are encapsulated: Key Points of Discussion nd Analysis Include: Lolo Soetoro’s work as a civilian employee of the Indonesian Army at the East-West Institute in Hawaii (headed up at the time by Howard Jones, for years U.S. Ambassador to Indonesia); Soetoro’s meeting of (Stanley) Ann Dunham at the East-West Institute; Soetoro’s return to Indonesia in 1966; Soetoro’s work for the Indonesian army following the coup; Soetoro’s work for Unocal and Mobil, two of the key oil companies in Indonesia that faced possible nationalization by Sukarno; Ann Dunham’s work for USAID and Ford Foundation in Indonesia (both common covers for CIA work abroad); Soetoro’s account of having seen a man killed in “bloody” fashion; the dubious nature of claims by the Obama clan that Ms. Dunham learned of the slaughter that had just taken place through quiet asides and innuendo (numerous press accounts available through U.S. media outlets had reported the massacre); Ann Dunham’s subsequent work for the Ford Foundation in Indonesia, under Peter Geithner (whose son Timothy Geithner became Obama’s Secretary of the Treasury); Barack Obama’s work for the Business International Corporation between college and graduate school (the company has, in the past, served as a “corporate cover” for CIA employees); Obama’s biological father’s meeting of Ann Dunham in a Russian language class at the University of Hawaii in 1960, after entering the U.S. under a joint CIA-State Department program initiated under the auspices of Tom Mboya in Kenya (later assassinated because of his perceived/alleged links to CIA).

We are of the opinion that Obama is part of a Deep State, trans-generational intelligence network and his stewardship of the “pivot to Asia,” Avril Haines key position in the events surrounding the full-court press against China, and “Delaware Joe” [Biden]‘s pursuit of a vigorous anti-China policy are part of the straight railway line of Asian policy described by Stanley Hornbeck: “.  . . . the doyen of State’s Far Eastern Division. . . . [Hornbeck] had only the most abbreviated and stilted knowledge of China, and had been out of touch personally for many years. . . . He withheld cables from the Secretary of State that were critical of Chiang, and once stated that ‘the United States Far Eastern policy is like a train running on a railroad track.  It has been clearly laid out and where it is going is plain to all.’ It was in fact bound for Saigon in 1975, with whistle stops along the way at Peking, Quemoy, Matsu, and the Yalu River. . . .”

The program begins with discussion of the formation of the World Anti-Communist League in Taiwan under Chiang Kai-shek.

Key Points of Discussion and Analysis Include: Chiang Kai-shek’s Kuomintang and their support for the Indonesian coup, including staging attacks on the Chinese embassy in Jakarta; Taiwan as the site for the merging of the Asian People’s Anti-Communist League with the Anti-Bolshevik Bloc of Nations to form the World Anti-Communist League; the role of Adrian Zenz in the fabrication of the Uighur genocide meme; Zenz’s association with the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation, a derivative of the Captive Nations Committee, a subsidiary of the OUN/B and deeply involved with the Anti-Bolshevik Bloc of Nations; the role of elements of the Azov Battalion and Pravy Sektor in the “pro-democracy” movement in Hong Kong; the adoption by the “pro-Democracy movement” of a permutation of the “Glory to Ukraine, Glory to The Heroes” salute of the OUN/B; review of the networking between Ruzy Nazar and the Pan-Turkist and Nazi deep political forces at work in Xinjiang province; review of Nazar’s representation of the ABN at WACL’s conference in Dallas, Texas.

Following discussion of the formation of WACL, the program highlights the importance of the Indonesian oil companies to the U.S. and their Indonesian satraps.

FTR#1212 The Narco-Fascism of Chiang Kai-shek and the Kuomintang, Part 19

It has been clearly laid out and where it is going is plain to all.’ It was in fact bound for Saigon in 1975, with whistle stops along the way at Peking, Quemoy, Matsu, and the Yalu River. . . .”

This program chronicles the U.S. coup in Indonesia. In our landmark series of interviews with Jim DiEugenio, we noted that President Kennedy’s assassination put the railway described by Stanley Hornbeck back on schedule in Indonesia, as it had been put back on schedule in Vietnam.

“ . . . . The United States was part and parcel of the operation at every stage, starting well before the killings started, until the last body dropped and the last political prisoner emerged from jail, decades later, tortured, scarred, and bewildered. . . . the U.S. government helped spread the propaganda that made the killing possible, and engaged in constant conversations with the Army to make sure the military officers had everything they needed, from weapons to kill lists. . . . knowing full well that the method being employed to make this possible was to round up hundreds of thousands of people around the country, stab or strangle them, and throw their corpses into rivers. . . . Up to a million Indonesians, maybe more, were killed as part of Washington’s global anticommunist crusade. The U. S. government expended significant resources over years engineering the conditions for a violent clash, and then, when the violence broke out, assisted and guided its longtime partners to carry out the mass murder of civilians as a means of achieving US geopolitical goals. . . .”

Key Points of Discussion and Analysis Include: The Johnson Administration’s determination to wage a “major war against Indonesia; the inability of U.S. strategic planners to comprehend  Indonesia’s status of non-alignment in the Cold War outside of the “either with us or against us” operational paradigm that was institutionalized in U.S. foreign and national security under the Dulles brothers during the Eisenhower administration; Pakistan’s ambassador to Paris sent a letter to foreign minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto: “ . . . . Western intelligence agencies were organizing a ‘premature communist coup.’ Indonesia, the NATO officer told him, ‘was ready to fall into the Western lap like a rotten apple.’. . .” The enthusiastic coverage of the Indonesian slaughter in the Western press, exemplified by The New York Times’ C.L. Sulzberger, who penned the piece “When a Nation Runs Amok”; the cultural chauvinism tinged with racism of the Western press coverage, embodied by Sulzberger’s piece: “ . . . . the killings occurred in ‘violent Asia, where life is cheap . . . . hidden behind their [Indonesians] smile is that strange Malay streak, that inner, frenzied blood-lust which has given to other languages one of their few Malay words: amok . . . .”; The fact that the main point of irritation in the U.S. about the PKI (Indonesia’s Communist Party) was not that they were undemocratic or trying to seize power through subversion, but that they “were popular;” the role of U.S. plantation managers and corporate personnel in submitting names to the Indonesian army and its allies for liquidation; Historian John Roosa’s encapsulation of the results of the slaughter: “ . . . . Almost overnight the Indonesian government went from being a fierce voice for cold war neutrality and anti-imperialism to a quiet, compliant partner of the US world order. . . .”; New York Times columnist James Reston’s characterization of the coup and resulting slaughter as “A Gleam of Light in Asia” that outweighed U.S. setbacks in Vietnam; he—by now—longstanding and well-recognized American tactic of “making the economy scream;” Suharto’s deliberate engineering of hyperinflation in order to restrict the supply of fundamentals needed by people to sustain their lives; “The U.S. government was intentionally destabilizing the economy;” Robert Kennedy’s criticism of the Indonesian coup; U.S. corporations finding Indonesia “open for business”; a business conference sponsored by James Linen, President of Time-Life (it was Time-Life that was–to a considerable extent–the eyes and ears of the U.S. on both Chiang Kai-shek and the assassination of J.F.K.; The slaughter that took place on the island of Bali, something of an iconic tropical paradise; analysis of the significance of machetes being used in the slaughter of scores of thousands on the beautiful Bali beaches–the machete is not a blade used by the Balinese, who use a thinner, domestic cutting tool caused the klewang; Chiang Kai-shek’s Kuomintang and their support for the Indonesian coup, including staging attacks on the Chinese embassy in Jakarta; Taiwan as the site for the merging of the Asian People’s Anti-Communist League with the Anti-Bolshevik Bloc of Nations to form the World Anti-Communist League.

Epitomizing and encapsulating the coup was the butchery that transpired on the Island of Bali and its aftermath in the contemporary luxury resort economy that prevails there:

” . . . . Then he [Wayan Badra] heard what was happening on the beaches. They were bringing people from the city to the east to kill them on the sand. It was public property there, and empty at night. The bodies were abandoned there. . . . they found a field of bodies. . . .They began looking through bones, picking up skulls. . . . There were just ‘too many skulls, too many skeletons. . . . In total, at least 5 percent of the population of Bali was killed—that is, eighty thousand people . . . .”

” . . . . Wayan Bandra, the Hindu priest, lives on the street where he grew up, in Seminyak, Southwest Bali. But the neighborhood has changed drastically. The same beach he used to walk on for forty minutes every morning, as he headed to school down in Kuta, is certainly not empty. It’s packed wall to wall with luxury resorts and ‘beach clubs,’ a very common type of business on the island, where foreigners can sip cocktails all day, and take a dip in a pool, right on the sand. It’s the same sand, of course, where the military brought people from Kerobokan, a few miles east, to kill them at night. . . .”

” . . . . . . . . Over the years, Wayan Badra and his neighbors have found bones and skulls in the sand . . . . As the elder priest for this village, he takes it upon himself to give the bodies a proper Hindu funeral. . . .”

FTR#1209 The Narco-Fascism of Chiang Kai-shek and the Kuomintang, Part 16

Continuing our series on the regime of Chiang Kai-shek–all but beatified during the Cold War–we begin by drawing still more on a magnificent book–The Soong Dynasty by Sterling Seagrave.

Although sadly out of print, the book is still available through used book services, and we emphatically encourage listeners to take advantage of those and obtain it. Several listeners have said that they were able to obtain the book because it is still in print!

I hope so! PLEASE buy it, read it, and tell others about it, either through conventional means and/or through social media. (Mr. Emory gets no money from said purchases of the book.) It is apparently available from Amazon on Kindle.

We also draw on another, altogether remarkable work by Peggy and Sterling Seagrave–Gold Warriors.

As we approach the close of this series, we “dolly out” and present aspects of how U.S. policy in Asia during the Cold War grew directly out of the “missionary position” that America took toward China–a position that led directly to war in Korea and Vietnam.

It has been clearly laid out and where it is going is plain to all.’ It was in fact bound for Saigon in 1975, with whistle stops along the way at Peking, Quemoy, Matsu, and the Yalu River. . . .”

Next, we recap an element of discussion from FTR#1208.

Networking with Isa Yusuf Alptekin at the Bandung (Indonesia) conference was Ruzi (or “Ruzy”) Nazar, an Uzbek national who fought in various Third Reich military formations, including the SS Dirlewanger Brigade. After the war, Nazar was a CIA operative networking with the National Action Party (or National Movement Party) of Alparslan Turkes.

Nazar represented the Anti-Bolshevik Bloc of Nations at the 1984 WACL conference in Dallas.

(We have discussed the de-stabilization of Xinjiang Province in numerous programs, including: FTR#‘s 1143, 1144, 1145.  1154, 1178, 1179, 1180.)

Adrian Zenz–whose professional milieu is the Captive Nations Committee and its subsidiary element the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation–has also been minted as an expert on Tibet.

Next, we detail information on the Dalai Lama:

Important background information on this item of the program is contained in FTR#‘s 547, 548 among other programs. (Mr. Emory mis-identified the numbers of the programs in the audio file for this broadcast.)

Key facts about the Dalai Lama were set forth by former key aides of his.

In addition to a belief in demons and a reliance on magic rituals (some of them sexual in nature), the Dalai Lama’s brand of Tantric Buddhism espouses a militant, warlike and intolerant nature toward other religions. As noted by the Trimondis, there are some similarities between this perverted manifestation of Buddhism and the Wahhabi/Muslim Brotherhood’s perverted manifestation of Islam.

The Dalai Lama’s brand of Tantric Buddhism contains what might be a viewed as “Buddhist jihadism.” In addition, the Trimondis take note of the significance of the Kalachakra Tantra ceremony performed by the Dalai Lama, a subject to which we will return later in the broadcast. In addition, Tantric Buddhism’s apocalyptic vision of a climactic war of the religions (“Shambala War”) bears some similarities to the fundamentalist Christian vision of Armageddon.

Key elements of discussion and analysis include:

1.–” . . . . In contrary to every democratic custom, the present Dalai Lama consults with the Nechung Oracle, a monk who is possessed by a Mongolian War God, on all-important state decisions. . . .”
2.–” . . . . Murderous super-weapons possessed by the Buddhist Shambhala Army are described at length and in enthusiastic detail in the Kalachakra Tantra Text (Shri Kalachakra I. 128 ‑142) and employed against ‘enemies of the Dharma (Buddha’s teachings).’ . . .”
3.–” . . . . The secret text of the Kalachakra explicitly names the ‘leaders’ of Judaism, Christianity and Islam as the opponents of Buddhism: ‘Adam, Enoch, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, Mani, Muhammad and the Mahdi’ describing them as ‘the family of the demonic snakes’ (Shri Kalachakra I. 154). . . .”

Next, the Trimondis note the influence of Tantric Buddhism (and other Eastern religions) on the philosophy of SS chief Heinrich Himmler. They also note that well-known German Buddhist teachers Durckheim and Herrigel have been doctrinaire Nazis. In addition, the Trimondis note that the Dalai Lama has maintained close connections with other Nazis and fascists over the years.

In addition to SS veterans Heinrich Harrer and war criminal Bruno Beger, the Dalai Lama networked with “the French SS- collaborator, convinced anti-Semite, recognized Orientalist and Kalachakra Tantra expert Jean Marques-Riviere (in his absence convicted and given the death sentence for turning Jews over to the Gestapo in France).” The Aum Shinrikyo guru Shoko Asahara was also a friend of the Dalai Lama and was influenced by the ideology of the Kalachakra Tantra. (For more about the Aum Shinrikyo cult, including the influence of Hitler on the Dalai Lama’s friend Shoko Asahara, see FTRs 35 and 69.)

Next, we review analysis of power broker–Kodama Yoshio who helped institutionalize the collaboration between Chinese KMT, Korean and Japanese fascists. Noteworthy, as well is Kodama’s close relationship between with the CIA and the Japanese Imperial family in the postwar/Cold War period.

Kodama Yoshio epitomizes and embodies the operational and ideological structure of the Asian People’s Anti-Communist League, the Asian branch of what was to become the World Anti-Communist League.

Key Points of Discussion and Analysis Include: Kodama’s accumulated fortune of 13 billion dollars in World War II dollars; Kodama’s close relationship with Japanese Emperor Hirohito, who allowed him to stash some of his wealth in the Imperial Palace; Kodama’s dominant position in the narcotics traffic, during and after World War II; Kodama’s donation of 100 million dollars to the CIA (equivalent to 1 billion dollars in today’s currency); Kodama’s continued dominance in the global narcotics traffic, during the time he was on the CIA’s payroll; Kodama’s cozy relationship with Prince Higashikuni, Emperor Hirohito’s uncle, who facilitated Kodama’s operations, including his close relationship with the U.S.

Next, we review the brilliant Douglas Valentine’s synopsis of the role of Kuomintang drug trafficking in the institutionalization of American government drug-trafficking.

U.S. Ambassador to Thailand (and former OSS chief) William “Wild Bill” Donovan worked with OSS and CIA operative Paul Helliwell to distribute the laundered profits of Agency-backed drug operations to members of Congress, with Donovan gifting Republicans and Helliwell supporting Democrats.

” . . . .Thai dictator Phao Sriyanon, a drug trafficker who was then alleged to be the richest man in the world; ‘hired lawyer Paul Helliwell . . . as a lobbyist in addition to [former OSS chief William] Donovan [who in 1953–1955 was U.S. Ambassador to Thailand]. Donovan and Helliwell divided the Congress between them, with Donovan assuming responsibility for the Republicans and Helliwell taking the Democrats.’ . . . .”

FTR#1208 The Narco-Fascism of Chiang Kai-shek and the Kuomintang, Part 15

Continuing our series on the regime of Chiang Kai-shek–all but beatified during the Cold War–we begin by drawing still more on a magnificent book–The Soong Dynasty by Sterling Seagrave.

It has been clearly laid out and where it is going is plain to all.’ It was in fact bound for Saigon in 1975, with whistle stops along the way at Peking, Quemoy, Matsu, and the Yalu River. . . .”

The program continues with review of the obituary of general Paik Sun-yup of Korea, whose service in the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II has been a focal point of controversy in South Korea. General Sun-yup embodied the ongoing controversy in Korea over Japan’s occupation and the subsequent unfolding of events leading up to, and including the Korean War. “. . . . In 1941, he joined the army of Manchukuo, a puppet state that imperial Japan had established in Manchuria, and served in a unit known for hunting down Korean guerrillas fighting for independence . . .”

A post by German Foreign Policy sets forth Cold War history involving the BND/Gehlen “Org” and China.

Documenting plans to launch a nuclear strike against Peking and Moscow during the Korean War, following up with Nazi-aided Kuomintang tank warfare to finish the conflict and spawning a long Gehlen-Nazi advisory role with Chiang Kai-Shek’s military, the post provides historical context in which the Covid-19 pandemic and the full-court press against China.

“When, during the war on Korea, a nuclear strike against Peking (and Moscow) had been relocated (site of deployment Guam, max. 34 Mark 4 atomic bombs), the successor of the Nazi espionage (Organization Gehlen) in Munich, ensured direct contacts with the Kuomintang. Following the dropping of the atomic bombs, Kuomintang troops were supposed to march, as occupying forces, through contaminated terrain towards Peking. To support the offensive of Kuomintang tanks, considered necessary by Chiang Kai-shek, Gehlen could offer specialists from Munich: from the Reichswehr and Nazi military. . . .”

” . . . . Leo Geyr von Schweppenburg was working with the Organization Gehlen . . . . The Nazi General, who, as hero of the Nazi tank divisions’ advance towards Moscow, had been awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross, was now in action for Taiwan and the Kuomintang in the battle against Peking. He personally instructed the staffs of the nationalist forces with original documents of the Nazi’s ‘Operation Barbarossa.’ He was personally answerable to Chiang Kai-shek. . . .”

” . . . . In Taiwan, Munzel’s BND group, disguised as a delegation of DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service, Bonn) received Chiang Kai-shek’s son Wego, formerly a cadet in the Nazi military, now an armaments expert with connections to the West German war industry. Chiang Wego’s assignment was comprehensive and clear: to train new recruits for the offensive against Peking by drawing on the German experience gained during ‘Operation Barbarossa’ (followed by Munzel’s testing in Cairo) — and to provide the appropriate weapons. . . .”

” . . . . While Munzel, under BND command, set up a secret ‘experimental battalion’ against China (1968), staff officers of the Taiwan dictatorship studied at the German Armed Forces Staff College in Hamburg, quite officially. . . .”

Noteworthy for our purposes, is the exterminationist tactical approach undertaken by the West and drawing on Nazi expertise in drawing up operational plans.

Noteworthy, also, is the continuity of SS activity in, or in connection with, Asia:

1.–In the 1950’s and 1960’s, German television went “retro” with Goebbels’ Propaganda Ministry, broadcasting SS footage of an anthropological expedition to Tibet. ” . . . . The Nazi propaganda’s imaginary projection of a people, weaker than ‘inner Asians,’ who still had maintained their purity and must be protected was seamlessly transmitted. The notorious SS-produced film (‘Geheimnis Tibet,’– ‘Secret Tibet,’ 1943) about Aryan genes in the Himalayan Highlands returned to the big screen of the movies. . . .”
2.–The broadcast material featured SS war criminal and member of the Tibetan Government-in-Exile Bruno Beger.  ” . . . . The West German state was barely a year old, and a nuclear strike against Peking was in the planning stages (1950), when graphically identical cinema posters promoted the relaunch: ‘The original film about the German Tibet expedition.’ The film contains scenes with the Auschwitz criminal Bruno Beger (see Part II). The scenes with Beger, who measures the heads and bodies of the indigenous people comparing them to those of Aryans, conveys racism as a stimulus for murder, seemingly harmless and interchangeable . . . . as the Aryan heritage in Tibetan Asia, threatened with dilution by the yellow peril (from the Chinese state and Han Chinese) . . . .”
3.–In addition, the film featured voice-over narration by the Dalai Lama’s SS tutor Heinrich Harrer: ” . . . . In the evening program, millions learned how, several years earlier, the omnipresent TV moderator and alpinist hero had met the Dalai Lama — as the godly king in Lhasa, Tibet, who had offered his friendship to the white man from distant Europe and who now finds himself on the run from ‘Red China’ — without his indigenous people. The white visitor, the omnipresent TV moderator was Heinrich Harrer, former SS Oberscharfürer. . . .”
3.–The Uighurs (also transliterated as “Uyghurs”) also draw on Waffen SS heritage and institutional momentum: ” . . . . The new Uighur generation traveled via Turkey and filled the Muslim ranks of Gehlen’s agents in Munich, who had made their living for decades at Radio Free Europe (RFE), the intelligence operation in the Oettinger Strasse. . . . The elders of the Uighur community in Munich (today the World Uyghur Congress, WUC) are very familiar with the blood propaganda, through their service in the ‘Eastland-Legions’ of the Waffen SS (Turkestan 162nd Infantry Division). Berlin had promised them their own nation with the inclusion of Xinjiang (‘Great Turkestan’), ‘identity,’ and Muslim law, to be able to position the great German ‘Reich’ at China’s borders with Turkmen help. With the defeated rest of the SS division stranded in Bavaria, they still had their hopes and are once again used against China . . . .”

Networking with Isa Yusuf Alptekin at the Bandung (Indonesia) conference was Ruzi (or “Ruzy”) Nazar, an Uzbek national who fought in various Third Reich military formations, including the SS Dirlewanger Brigade. (Alptekin was a key Kuominang associate and the patriarch of the Uighur separatist movementAfter the war.) Nazar was a CIA operative networking with the National Action Party (or National Movement Party) of Alparslan Turkes.

FTR#1193 The Oswald Institute of Virology, Part 12: Covid-19 and The American Deep State, Part 4

Embodying the “Deep State” ideological continuity being perpetuated from the “extremist” Trump administration to the “respectable” Biden administration, national security advisor Jake Sullivan now sees the “Lab Leak Theory” of Covid’s origins as “credible” as natural origins.

Sullivan is a national security advisor and has no scientific credentials in relevant disciplines.

Sullivan has intoned: ” . . . . National security adviser Jake Sullivan warned Beijing of potential consequences last month, telling Fox News that China will face ‘isolation in the international community’ if it does not cooperate with probes moving forward. . . .”

Isolating China is the biggest strategic goal of this “op,” as we have noted repeatedly since February of 2020.

Note that journalists covering the issue are not permitting discussion of the possibility of the virus’s deliberate creation and dissemination as part of a U.S. covert operation, the 800-pound gorilla in the room we have discussed for many hours.

As famed journalist Edward R. Murrow observed decades ago: “A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves.”

Buttressing Murrow’s observation, 52% of Americans in a recent poll believed the “Lab Leak Theory,” largely because of the Biden administration’s renewed focus on that possibility.

” . . . . U.S. adults were almost twice as likely to say the virus was the result of a lab leak in China than human contact with an infected animal, which many scientists believe is the most likely scenario. . . . [Harvard Professor Robert] Blendon said Democrats likely became more receptive to the idea after President Joe Biden’s recent order that intelligence agencies investigate the virus’ origin and comments from Anthony Fauci, the White House chief medical officer, that it’s worth digging into. . . .”

Anthony Fauci’s expression of doubt about the natural origin theory of the virus is said to have influenced the increase in public acceptability of the “Lab-Leak Theory.”

Fauci himself set forth the “lab leak” scenario in his 2012 endorsement of a moratorium on gain-of-function manipulations, setting the intellectual stage for the “gaming” of just such a scenario.

In FTR#1187, we noted that Fauci’s NIH NIAID was among the institutions that presided over EcoHealth Alliance’s funding of experimentation on bat-borne coronaviruses at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

A Chinese spokesperson has hinted at the origins of the virus being found in U.S. biological warfare laboratories.

Again, the American and world wide press has failed to address the 800-pound gorilla in the room.

By the same token and as part of that failure, the closure of USAMRIID at Ft. Detrick on the eve of the pandemic (early August of 2019.)

“. . . . ‘What secrets are hidden in the suspicion-shrouded Fort Detrick and the over 200 US bio-labs all over the world?’ Zhao asked reprovingly when commenting after Biden announced the intelligence review. In China, officials have pointed to the US failure to publicize information about or accept an investigation of its own biodefense program—something that the government spokesperson cited as an example of ‘having a guilty conscience.’ . . .”

Supplementing the previous item, we recap an item from previous programs:

1.–The U.S. would not be acceptable to such a proposition, if the Chinese demanded access to Ft. Detrick (part of which was shut down by the CDC in early August of 2019 on the eve of the pandemic). A commenter also noted the Rocky Mountain lab in his analysis, which we noted was one of the areas where Willy Burgdorfer appears to have worked on the development of Lyme Disease. ” . . . . If a disease had emerged from the U.S. and the Chinese blamed the Pentagon and demanded access to the data, ‘what would we say?’ [Dr. Gerald] Keusch asked. ‘Would we throw out the red carpet, ‘Come on over to Fort Detrick and the Rocky Mountain Lab?’ We’d have done exactly what the Chinese did, which is say, ‘Screw you!’’ . . . .”

Reprising a portion of an article used in FTR#1191, we note Danielle Anderson’s experience of having been violently excoriated for exposing false information posted about the pandemic online.

The “last–and only” foreign researcher at the WIV, Ms. Anderson has shared the vitriol that many virologists have experienced  in the wake of the pandemic.

Are we seeing a manifestation of what might be called “anti-virologist” McCarthyism, not unlike the “Who Lost China” crusade in the 1950’s?

Are virologists being intimidated into supporting–or at least not refuting–the “Lab Leak Theory?”

Bear in mind that Donald Trump’s attorney and political mentor was the late Roy Cohn, who was Senator Joe McCarthy’s top hatchet man.

In addition, we note that intellectual curiosity has been dampened by the financial gain that derives from government funding.

“. . . . One of the many prescient observations in President Eisenhower’s 1961 farewell speech warning about the dangers of the ‘military-industrial complex’ was that ‘a government contract becomes virtually a substitute for intellectual curiosity. . . The prospect of domination of the nation’s scholars by federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present and is gravely to be regarded.’ . . . .”

We wonder if this, paired with the intimidation of virologists by the right-wing, is a factor driving acceptance of “The Lab-Leak Theory?”

Next, we once again reprise a study released by US National Academy of Sciences at the request of the Department of Defense about the threats of synthetic biology concluded that the techniques to tweak and weaponize viruses from known catalogs of viral sequences is very feasible and relatively easy to do.

Note that the Pentagon has funded research into bat-borne coronaviruses in China and at the “Oswald Institute of Virology,” through various vehicles, including and especially (in combination with USAID) the EcoHealth Alliance .

That research has led to the publication of research papers including some featuring the genomes of bat-borne coronaviruses.

Once those papers are published, the viruses can be “printed out” at will, either as direct copies or as mutated viruses.

Key points of discussion:

1.–” . . . . Advances in the area mean that scientists now have the capability to recreate dangerous viruses from scratch; make harmful bacteria more deadly; and modify common microbes so that they churn out lethal toxins once they enter the body. . . .”
2.–” . . . . In the report, the scientists describe how synthetic biology, which gives researchers precision tools to manipulate living organisms, ‘enhances and expands’ opportunities to create bioweapons. . . .”
3.–” . . . . Today, the genetic code of almost any mammalian virus can be found online and synthesized. ‘The technology to do this is available now,’ said Imperiale. ‘It requires some expertise, but it’s something that’s relatively easy to do, and that is why it tops the list.’ . . .”
4.–” . . . . Other fairly simple procedures can be used to tweak the genes of dangerous bacteria and make them resistant to antibiotics, so that people infected with them would be untreatable. . . .”

Recapping discussion from programs in early February of 2020, we note Event 201, one of whose key participants was former Deputy Director of Central Intelligence Avril Haines.

Ms. Haines is now Biden’s Director of National Intelligence and is presiding over Delaware Joe’s investigation into the pandemic’s origins.

It is straining credibility to see this concatenation as “coincidence.”

” . . . . a novel coronavirus pandemic preparedness exercise October 18, 2019, in New York called ‘Event 201.’46 The simulation predicted a global death toll of 65 million people within a span of 18 months.47 As reported by Forbes December 12, 2019:48 ‘The experts ran through a carefully designed, detailed simulation of a new (fictional) viral illness called CAPS or coronavirus acute pulmonary syndrome. This was modeled after previous epidemics like SARS and MERS.’ . . . .”

A chilling article may forecast the potential deployment of even deadlier pandemics, as operational disguise for biological warfare and genocide.

Note that the sub-heading in the conclusion referring to the lab-leak hypothesis is followed by no mention of the lab-leak hypothesis, per se.

Why not? We feel there may be a chilling subtext to this.

Is this a between-the-lines reference to impending biological warfare development and the deployment of another pandemic?

Note that the Army scientist quoted in the conclusion offers an observation that is very close to a Donald Rumsfeld quote reiterated by Peter Daszak in an article we reference in FTR#1170.

1.–From the Defense One article: ” . . . . ‘We don’t want to just treat what’s in front of us now,’  [Dr. Dimitra] Stratis-Cullum said. ‘I think we really need to be resilient. From an Army perspective. We need to be agile, we need to adapt to the threat that we don’t know that’s coming.’ . . .”
2.–From the article from Independent Science News: ” . . . . ‘There are known knowns; there are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns; that is to say, there are things that we know we don’t know. But there are also unknown unknowns — there are things we don’t know we don’t know.’ (This Rumsfeld quote is in fact from a news conference) . . . . In the subsequent online discussion, Daszak emphasized the parallels between his own crusade and Rumsfeld’s, since, according to Daszak, the ‘potential for unknown attacks’ is ‘the same for viruses’. . . .”

Something to keep in mind–with Avril Haines in charge of the intelligence community under Biden–the latest salvo in the anti-China propaganda barrage should be evaluated against the disclosure that CIA disguises cyberweaponry as being Chinese in origin and nature.

” . . . . The Biden administration for the first time on Monday accused the Chinese government of breaching Microsoft email systems used by many of the world’s largest companies, governments and military contractors, as the United States rallied a broad group of allies to condemn Beijing for cyberattacks around the world. . . .”

Note in that context, that we have learned that the CIA’s hacking tools are specifically crafted to mask CIA authorship of the attacks. Most significantly, for our purposes, is the fact that the Agency’s hacking tools are engineered in such a way as to permit the authors of the event to represent themselves as Chinese, among other nationalities.

This is of paramount significance in evaluating the increasingly neo-McCarthyite New Cold War propaganda about “Russian interference” in the U.S. election and now China’s alleged hacks.

With the CIA’s disturbing track record of distortions and out right lies, such as the “Painting of Oswald Red” discussed in–among other programs–FTR #‘s 925 and 926, as well as our series of interviews with Jim DiEugenio, the ease with which the Agency can now disguise its cyberattacks as being of a different national origin, combined with the prevalence of online espionage might be said to leave us all in “Oswald World!”

” . . . . These tools could make it more difficult for anti-virus companies and forensic investigators to attribute hacks to the CIA. Could this call the source of previous hacks into question? It appears that yes, this might be used to disguise the CIA’s own hacks to appear as if they were Russian, Chinese, or from specific other countries. . . .”

FTR#1192 The Oswald Institute of Virology, Part 11: The 800-Pound Gorilla in the Room

The title of the program stems from a deadly dichotomization of the discussion of the origin of Covid-19 into either: “A naturally-occurring phenomenon” OR “The Lab Leak Theory.”

Tellingly missing is the deliberately-created, biological warfare pandemic hypothesis that Mr. Emory has been advancing since the very beginning of the pandemic. (This analysis was first advanced in FTR#‘s 1111 & 1112. This program was recorded in early February of 2020.)

With Michael R. Gordon helping craft journalistic justification for the “Lab-Leak Theory” and Philip Zelikow chairing a commission investigating Covid-19, we are seeing players in the PNAC/Iraqi WMD/9/11 nexus being recycled in connection with that theory.

In that context, we review a study released by US National Academy of Sciences at the request of the Department of Defense about the threats of synthetic biology concluded that the techniques to tweak and weaponize viruses from known catalogs of viral sequences is very feasible and relatively easy to do.

In FTR#456, we noted the eerie foreshadowing the the 9/11 attacks by Turner Diaries author William Luther Pierce. Key aspects of that book, in turn, foreshadow aspects of the 9/11 attacks.

In 1998, the author of that tome,–William Luther Pierce–explicitly foreshadowed the 9/11 attacks which defined and cemented Dubya’s administration. “ . . . . In one chilling commentary Pierce, (after noting that Bin Laden and the rest of the lost generation of angry Moslem youth had it with their parents’ compromises and were hell bent on revenge against infidel America) issued this stark, prophetic warning in a 1998 radio address titled, ‘Stay Out of Tall Buildings.’ ‘New Yorkers who work in tall office buildings anything close to the size of the World Trade Center might consider wearing hard hats . . .’ Pierce warned.’ . . . The running theme in Pierce’s commentaries is—to paraphrase his hero Hitler—that Osama Bin Laden’s warning to America is ‘I Am Coming.’ And so is bio-terrorism.’ . . .”

In that context, we note that China is devastated by a WMD/Third World War in Turner Diaries.

The program concludes with a look at some of the many aspects of the Covid-19 pandemic. Many of these were compiled in FTR#1125.

FTR#1191 The Oswald Institute of Virology, Part 10: “A Politically Useful Tool”

The program begins with an excerpt that comes from the consummately important Whitney Webb article he has used on many occasions.

The Project For A New American Century’s Rebuilding America’s Defenses argues that biological warfare–particularly when twined with genetic engineering–can become a “politically useful tool.”

Indeed, as we have said so many times, if one is going to detach the second-largest economy from the world and alienate that country from others, the Covid-19 pandemic is, indeed, “a politically useful tool” for so doing.

(In FTR#1190, we examined the PNAC agenda, its codification in national security policy in a document largely crafted by Philip Zelikow. Zelikow headed the 9/11 Commission and was centrally involved in writing its flawed report, the systematic shortcomings of which could be said to characterize the commission as “The Omission Commission.)

Zelikow is now heading a commission to examine the Covid-19 pandemic, including the so-called “Lab-Leak Hypothesis.”

The program references this excerpt, designating Covid-19 as a “politically useful tool.”

As seen below, there are indications that the DARPA program was, indeed, looking at the exploitation of genetics in the application of biological warfare.

Next, we highlight an excerpt from an article that is featured in FTR#‘s 686 and 1115. ” . . . . The production of vaccine against a stockpiled BW weapon must be considered an offensive BW project According to MIT scientists Harlee Strauss and Jonathan King, ‘These steps—the generation of a potential BW agent, development of a vaccine against it, testing of the efficacy of the vaccine—are all components that would be associated with an offensive BW program.’27 Clearly, without an antidote or vaccine to protect attacking troops, the utility of a stockpiled BW agent would be seriously limited. . . .”

We then review material from FTR#1166, among other programs, looking at the development of Moderna’s vaccine, the drug remdesivir and military domination of the Operation Warp Speed Covid vaccine program.

They key consideration is: do these developments indicate the dynamic Strauss and King cite above?

At a minimum, they are no more than the proverbial six degrees of separation from being part of an offensive biological warfare program.

In previous posts and programs, we have noted that Moderna’s vaccine work has been financed by DARPA. We have also noted that the overall head of Operation Warp Speed is Moncef Slaoui, formerly in charge of product development for Moderna!

Of great significance is the central role of the military in the development of treatment for Covid-19:

1.–The program notes that: ” . . . . Remdesivir predates this pandemic. It was first considered as a potential treatment for Ebola, and was developed through a longstanding partnership between the U.S. Army and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. . . .”
2.–Jonathan King, who has chaired the microbial physiology study section for the NIH has sounded the alarm about “vaccine research” masking offensive biological warfare research: “. . . . King, who has chaired the microbial physiology study section for the NIH, believes that without intensive independent scrutiny, the Pentagon is free to obscure its true goals. ‘The Defense Department appears to be pursuing many narrow, applied goals that are by nature offensive, such as the genetic ‘improvement’ of BW agents,’ King says. ‘But to achieve political acceptability, they mask these intentions under forms of research, such as vaccine development, which sound defensive. . . .”
3.–Moderna’s vaccine development was overseen by an unnamed Pentagon official: ” . . . . Moderna’s team was headed by a Defense Department official whom company executives described only as ‘the major,’ saying they don’t know if his name is supposed to be a secret. . . . .”
4.–The pervasive role of the military in Operation Warp Speed (the Trump administration’s vaccine development program) has generated alarm in civilian participants:”. . . . Scores of Defense Department employees are laced through the government offices involved in the effort, making up a large portion of the federal personnel devoted to the effort.  Those numbers have led some current and former officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to privately grumble that the military’s role in Operation Warp Speed was too large for a task that is, at its core, a public health campaign. . . .”
5.–General Gustave Perna–one of the principals in Operation Warp Speed–has chosen a retired Lieutenant General to oversee much of the program: ” . . . . ‘Frankly, it has been breathtaking to watch,’ said Paul Ostrowski, the director of supply, production and distribution for Operation Warp Speed. He is a retired Army lieutenant general who was selected to manage logistics for the program by Gen. Gustave F. Perna, the chief operating officer for Operation Warp Speed. . . .”
6.–The military will be able to trace the destination and administration of each dose: ” . . . . Military officials also came up with the clever idea — if it works — to coordinate the delivery of vaccines to drugstores, medical centers and other immunization sites by sending kits full of needles, syringes and alcohol wipes. Vaccine makers will be alerted when the kits arrive at an immunization site so they know to ship doses. Once the first dose is given, the manufacturer will be notified so it can send the second dose with a patient’s name attached several weeks later. The military will also monitor vaccine distribution through an operations center. ‘They will know where every vaccine dose is,’ Mr. [Paul] Mango said on a call with reporters. . . .”

Central to the inquiry about a laboratory genesis for the virus is Ralph Baric. In the context of some of his actions in conjunction with the development of vaccines and prophylactic measures in connection with biological warfare, we note that:

1.–Baric’s modification of a horseshoe bat virus to make it more infectious (in collaboration with Shi Zhengli and in an EcoHealth Alliance affiliated project) took place in North Carolina, not Wuhan. “. . . . Critics have jumped on this paper as evidence that Shi was conducting “gain of function” experiments that could have created a superbug, but Shi denies it. The research cited in the paper was conducted in North Carolina. . . .”
2.–Baric has been using related techniques to text remdesivir (in 2017) and the Moderna vaccine. This places him in a milieu inextricably linked to the military and pre-dating the pandemic. ” . . . . Using a similar technique, in 2017, Baric’s lab showed that remdesivir — currently the only licensed drug for treating covid — could be useful in fighting coronavirus infections. Baric also helped test the Moderna covid vaccine and a leading new drug candidate against covid. . . .”

The flimsy evidentiary foundation of the Trump/Biden “Oswald Institute of Virology” did it charge is evidenced by a new allegation coming from David Asher, senior fellow at the right-wing Hudson Institute and the former State Department adviser who co-authored a fact sheet last January on activity inside the lab as described in Katherine Eban’s “Vanity Fair” piece.

Note that:

1.–Asher reportedly told NBC News that he is “confident” that the Chinese military was funding a “secret program” that involved Shi Zhengli’s coronavirus research at the WIV.
2.–Shi reportedly worked with two military scientists at the lab. (Not surprising given that the vast bulk of BW research is inherently “dual-use.”
3.–Asher claims he was told this by several foreign researchers who worked at the WIV who saw some personnel there in military garb.
4.–IF true, the [alleged] members of this secret Chinese military biowarfare research team apparently didn’t think it was important to not wear military clothing during their secret research at a research facility intended for civilian use only.
5.–We aren’t told the identity of these foreign researchers who allegedly saw this.
6.–We aren’t told if Asher meant “foreign researchers”–non-Chinese researchers working at the WIV (so foreign to China) or Chinese researchers working at the WIV (so foreign to Asher).
7.–Shi’s research could be characterized as funded by the US military through the EcoHealth Alliance collaboration.
8.–Keep in mind that this remarkable claim is based on anonymous sources that may not exist but are are claimed by Asher to exist.

Asher’s anonymously-sourced allegations contrast with information from a Bloomberg News article about Danielle Anderson, a bat-borne virus expert who worked at the WIV as late as November 2019

Note that:

1.–Anderson would have been at WIV during the period when an outbreak from the WIV would presumably have taken place under a lab-leak scenario.
2.–Anderson is described as the only foreign researcher working at the WIV.
3.–If Anderson was the lone foreign researcher at the WIV, who are Asher’s “several anonymous foreign WIV researchers?”

A chilling article may forecast the potential deployment of even deadlier pandemics, as operational disguise for biological warfare and genocide.

Note that the sub-heading referring to the lab-leak hypothesis is followed by no mention of the lab-leak hypothesis, per se.

But there are also unknown unknowns — there are things we don’t know we don’t know.’ (This Rumsfeld quote is in fact from a news conference) . . . . In the subsequent online discussion, Daszak emphasized the parallels between his own crusade and Rumsfeld’s, since, according to Daszak, the ‘potential for unknown attacks’ is ‘the same for viruses’. . . .”

We conclude with another “look back looking forward.”

FTR#1186 The Oswald Institute of Virology, Part 5: Context

Continuing discussion and analysis from FTR#1185, we present discussion of the background and context to Pentagon and USAID funding for research into bat-borne coronaviruses through EcoHealth Alliance, in and around China.

The Pentagon funding for these projects must be seen against the background of three overlapping areas of consideration:

1.–The fact that any virus can be synthesized or modified from scratch. As detailed in a very important article from The Guardian: “ . . . Advances in the area mean that scientists now have the capability to recreate dangerous viruses from scratch; make harmful bacteria more deadly; and modify common microbes so that they churn out lethal toxins once they enter the body. . . In the report, the scientists describe how synthetic biology, which gives researchers precision tools to manipulate living organisms, ‘enhances and expands’ opportunities to create bioweapons. . . . Today, the genetic code of almost any mammalian virus can be found online and synthesised. ‘The technology to do this is available now,’ said [Michael] “It requires some expertise, but it’s something that’s relatively easy to do, and that is why it tops the list. . . .”
2.–Also fundamental to an understanding of the Covid “op” is the devastating nature of bat-borne viruses when introduced into the human body. “ . . . . As Boston University microbiologist Thomas Kepler explained to the Washington Post in 2018, the bat’s unique approach to viral infection explains why viruses that transfer from bats to humans are so severe. . . . ‘A virus that has co-evolved with the bat’s antiviral system is completely out of its element in the human,’ Kepler said. ‘That’s why it is so deadly — the human immune system is overwhelmed by the inflammatory response.’ The bat immune system responds very differently from ours to viral infection. Instead of attacking and killing an infected cell, which leads to a cascade of inflammatory responses, the bat immune system can starve the virus by turning down cellular metabolism. The bat origin of SARS-CoV‑2 may explain the cytokine storms that are hastening some COVID-19 deaths. . . .”
3.–Analysis presented in the liberal New York Magazine by Nicholson Baker takes stock of the implications of contemporary biotechnology and what we have termed (in past broadcasts) “The Magic Virus Theory.” “. . . . SARS‑2 seems almost perfectly calibrated to grab and ransack our breathing cells and choke the life out of them. . . . Perhaps viral nature hit a bull’s‑eye of airborne infectivity, with almost no mutational drift, no period of accommodation and adjustment, or perhaps some lab worker somewhere, inspired by Baric’s work with human airway tissue, took a spike protein that was specially groomed to colonize and thrive deep in the ciliated, mucosal tunnels of our inner core and cloned it onto some existing viral bat backbone. It could have happened in Wuhan, but — because anyone can now ‘print out’ a fully infectious clone of any sequenced disease — it could also have happened at Fort Detrick, or in Texas, or in Italy, or in Rotterdam, or in Wisconsin, or in some other citadel of coronaviral inquiry.. . .”

Taken together and in the context of the full-court press against China discussed in many programs including FTR#’s 1089, 1090, 1091, 1092, 1103, 1143, 1144, 1145, 1178, 1179, 1180, the Pentagon/USAID funding of EcoHealth Alliance and the research into bat-borne coronaviruses being conducted at the WIV and elsewhere in and around China, the three considerations just enumerated point ominously to the Covid-19 pandemic as an “op.”

Much of the program consists of a synopsis of key aspects of some of the above-named programs–highlighting the full-court press against China.

The People’s Liberation Army assumed control of the Wuhan Institute of Virology on January 26, 2020–roughly two weeks after the  genome for the SARS Cov‑2 was published: ” . . . . The Wuhan Institute of Virology is China’s only biosafety level 4 lab. While it has always been under the control of the Chinese government, since January 26, 2020, it has been under the command of the People’s Liberation Army, specifically its top biological-weapons specialist, a major general named Chen Wei. . . .”

An article in The Asia Times provides more depth on the growing tension between the U.S. and China.

Author Pepe Escobar feels that China became aware that they had been the focal point of a biological warfare attack. This dovetails with the analysis we presented about the WIV being taken over by the People’s Liberation Army on 1/26/2020.

President Xi Jinping has dropped verbal clues as to the Chinese view of the origin of the Covid-19: ” . . . . Beijing is carefully, incrementally shaping the narrative that, from the beginning of the coronavirus attack, the leadership knew it was under a hybrid war attack. The terminology of President Xi Jinping is a major clue. He said, on the record, that this was war. And, as a counter-attack, a ‘people’s war’ had to be launched. Moreover, he described the virus as a demon or devil. Xi is a Confucianist. Unlike some other ancient Chinese thinkers, Confucius was loath to discuss supernatural forces and judgment in the afterlife. However, in a Chinese cultural context, devil means ‘white devils’ or ‘foreign devils’: guailo in Mandarin, gweilo in Cantonese. This was Xi delivering a powerful statement in code. . . .”

Escobar also notes Event 201, which we highlighted in FTR #‘s 1111 and 1112: ” . . . . Extra questions linger about the opaque Event 201 in New York on October 18, 2019: a rehearsal for a worldwide pandemic caused by a deadly virus – which happened to be coronavirus. This magnificent coincidence happened one month before the outbreak in Wuhan. Event 201 was sponsored by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the World Economic Forum (WEF), the CIA, Bloomberg, John Hopkins Foundation and the UN.  The World Military Games opened in Wuhan on the exact same day. . . .”

As noted by Pepe Escobar, Event 201–which began on the same day as the Military World Games in Wuhan–helped to set the PR template for Covid-19.

We suspect that the World Military Games were, indeed, among the vectors for the Covid-19 “op.”:  “. . . . Contrary to the Pentagon’s insistence, however, an investigation of COVID-19 cases in the military from official and public source materials shows that a strong correlation exists in COVID-19 cases reported at U.S. military facilities that are home bases of members of the U.S. team that went to Wuhan. Before March 31, when the Pentagon restricted the release of information about COVID-19 cases at installations for security reasons, infections occurred at a minimum of 63 military facilities where team members returned after the Wuhan games. Additionally, the U.S. team used chartered flights to and from the games via Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Washington was one of the earliest states to show a spike in COVID-19. . .”

Avril Haines was a key participant in the event. Former Deputy CIA Director Avril Haines is Biden’s Director of National Intelligence.

The cognitive template for Covid-19 was also set by Peter Daszak, who has widely disseminated the supposition that “Disease X” would overtake the world.

It is our view that the efforts of Daszak, the Event 201 players and others could be compared to the propagandizing that elements of the WACCFL and the intelligence community, as well as elements of the U.S. far right did in the run-up to the JFK assassination.

That propagandizing was a key element in the “Painting of Oswald Red.”

The program concludes with rumination about the possible significance of Daszak’s Ukrainian heritage. This discussion will be fleshed out in our next program, reviewing the constellation of covert “ops” against China and the participation of elements of U.S. intelligence and Ukrainian fascism in the destabilization of Hong Kong and the propagation of the Uighur myth.

FTR#1185 Harvest Time, Part 4: The Oswald Institute of Virology, Part 4

Continuing discussion and analysis from FTR#’s 1183 and 1184, we finish analyzing an article about Shi Zhengli, Pentagon and USAID funding for her research into bat-borne coronaviruses through EcoHealth Alliance.

The Pentagon funding for these projects must be seen against the background of three overlapping areas of consideration:

1.–The fact that any virus can be synthesized or modified from scratch. As detailed in a very important article from The Guardian: “ . . . The program opens with more material from an article by Alexis Baden-Mayer about Shi Zhengli, which concludes with an interesting, important detail.

The People’s Liberation Army assumed control of the Wuhan Institute of Virology on January 26, 20 roughly two weeks after the  genome for the SARS Cov‑2 was published: ” . . .
