In the wake of the ter­ror­ist inci­dents in Paris, dis­cus­sion has point­ed­ly omit­ted the per­pe­tra­tors’ links to the Mus­lim Brotherhood–the Islam­ic fas­cist orga­ni­za­tion that spawned groups like Al Qae­da and ISIS. Por­trayed in the West as a “mod­er­ate’ orga­ni­za­tion, the Mus­lim Broth­er­hood was allied with the Axis in World War II and nur­tured as anti-com­mu­nist cadre by West­ern Intel­li­gence (CIA in par­tic­u­lar) dur­ing the Cold War. Suc­cess­ful­ly scape­goat­ed by Euro­pean fas­cist groups like the Nation­al Front, ele­ments of the Broth­er­hood net­work with those same fas­cists, mutu­al­ly ben­e­fit­ting from cul­tur­al and polit­i­cal alien­ation gen­er­at­ed among their respec­tive sup­port­ers. Much of the pro­gram reviews and details the cor­po­ratist and free mar­ket eco­nom­ic phi­los­o­phy of the Mus­lim Broth­er­hood, an ide­ol­o­gy that endears the Ikhwan to pow­er­ful polit­i­cal and eco­nom­ic inter­ests in the U.S. and else­where in the West. Broth­er­hood ele­ments con­tin­ue to be used as proxy war­riors by ele­ments of West­ern and Sau­di intel­li­gence in places like the Cau­ca­sus and Chi­na’s Xin­jiang Province.


This ISIS (ISIL) Video Isn’t Generating the Gravitas of the Foley Execution

A video of ISIS (ISIL) fol­low­ers swear­ing alle­giance to the orga­ni­za­tion fea­tures a strik­ing episode at about 1:05. The acolytes engage in some very “un-Islam­ic” ges­tur­ing (at right.) It graph­i­cal­ly illus­trates a dynam­ic we have spo­ken of so often. Cen­tral to an under­stand­ing of polit­i­cal con­flicts through­out the 20th and 21st cen­tu­ry is the con­cept of the Earth Island (also called “the World Island.”) This area is pop­u­lat­ed large­ly by Mus­lims, and polit­i­cal affil­i­a­tion with, and/or con­trol of, those pop­u­la­tion groups has long been seen as fun­da­men­tal to dom­i­na­tion of the Earth Island–that, in turn, is the geopo­lit­i­cal key to con­trol­ling the world. Impe­r­i­al Ger­many made good use of Islamists as proxy war­riors dur­ing the First World War, and the Third Reich devel­oped and used that strat­e­gy exten­sive­ly, in both its above-ground and under­ground phas­es. West­ern intelligence–the CIA and deriv­a­tive orga­ni­za­tions such as the Safari Club–have made exten­sive use of this strat­a­gem dur­ing the Cold War and after.

For some time, we’ve cov­ered one of George W. Bush’s Mus­lim Broth­er­hood polit­i­cal asso­ciates Sami al-Ari­an. The Oper­a­tion Green Quest inves­ti­ga­tion into the financ­ing of ter­ror­ist groups (includ­ing al-Qae­da, Hamas and Pales­tin­ian Islam­ic Jihad) stemmed from an inves­ti­ga­tion into Sam­my al-Ari­an (“Sam­my the Aryan,” as we call him.) One of the lead­ers of Pales­tin­ian Islam­ic Jihad (pic­tured at right), al-Ari­an is now turn­ing out in sup­port of the oust­ed Egypt­ian Mus­lim Broth­er­hood.


A Lot of “Poloney”: Arafat Murdered according to (Ahem) Al Jazeera

The Arafat poi­son­ing report is an Al Jazeera project from start to fin­ish, with a for­mer spook pre­sid­ing over the project. Polo­ni­um 210 has a half-life of 138 days (!), ren­der­ing detec­tion of alleged poi­son­ing with the sub­stance remote at this point in time. Experts on radi­a­tion poi­son­ing and polo­ni­um 210 dis­miss the find­ings. A Russ­ian inves­ti­ga­tion ini­tial­ly found no polo­ni­um. Al Jazeer­a’s rela­tion­ship with the Mus­lim Broth­er­hood becomes clear­er, with the net­work financ­ing the liv­ing quar­ters of exiled Egypt­ian allies of Mor­si. UPDATED ON 12/3/2013.

In this inter­view, we review many of the top­ics cov­ered by John Lof­tus in pre­vi­ous inter­views: Sami al-Ari­an and Oper­a­tion Green Quest; the NSA’s project with the British GCHQ; the Mus­lim Broth­er­hood; the post World War II evo­lu­tion of a bina­ry CIA and State Depart­ment. In addi­tion, John con­firmed the work­ing hypoth­e­sis I pre­sent­ed in FTR #‘s 733 through 739, not­ing that thje Arab Spring was a U.S. intel­li­gence oper­a­tion. We also dis­cussed the Boston Marathon bomb­ing and CIA links to some of the Cau­casian jihadists. Much of the pro­gram involved a fas­ci­nat­ing account of con­vict­ed mob­ster Whitey Bul­ger’s mur­der of an IRA smug­gler turned fed­er­al infor­mant, a con­cate­na­tion that includ­ed a U.S. attor­ney’s recruit­ment of a Ukrain­ian Gestapo war crim­i­nal as an agent to pen­e­trate U.S. intel­li­gence for the Irish Repub­li­can Army!

Co-author of a con­tro­ver­sial book on the Israel Lob­by, John Mearsheimer has run pro­fes­sion­al inter­fer­ence for a wild-eyed anti-Semi­te and Hitler apol­o­gist named Gilad Atz­mon. Atz­mon’s views would make Goebbels blush. In addi­tion to endors­ing Mearsheimer’s sup­port for Atz­mon, Stephen Walt has con­tributed to a pub­li­ca­tion open­ly affil­i­at­ed with Hamas and giv­ing access to medieval anti-Semi­tes of Atz­mon’s ilk.
