Lithuanian Fascism, Yesterday and Today

Hav­ing become the sec­ond fas­cist coun­try in Europe (in 1925), Lithua­nia is among the EU and NATO coun­tries cel­e­brat­ing its Waf­fen SS units that served the Third Reich. Lithuan­ian fas­cists were nur­tured by West­ern intel­li­gence and were pro­ject­ed into that for­mer Sovi­et repub­lic as part of the desta­bi­liza­tion of the Sovi­et Union. Now, Lithua­nia has resuci­tat­ed the Lithuan­ian Rifle­man’s Union, a para­mil­i­tary unit that col­lab­o­rat­ed with the Third Reich. Along with the Ukrain­ian OUN/B and UPA–the Lithuan­ian Rifle­man’s Union con­tin­ued the com­bat of World War II as gueril­la forces sup­port­ed by the OPC (an ele­ment of U.S. intel­li­gence.) FTR #838 Interview (#1) with Peter Levenda about “The Hitler Legacy”

The first of sev­er­al inter­views with Peter Lev­en­da about his impor­tant new book “The Hitler Lega­cy,” this pro­gram high­lights the evo­lu­tion of ele­ments which fig­ure into the devel­op­ment of the post-war Nazi under­ground. At the end of the First World War, the Bol­she­vik Rev­o­lu­tion in Rus­sia and abortive Marx­ist upris­ings in Ger­many and else­where in Europe infused the pow­er elite in the U.S. with a para­noid ide­o­log­i­cal ter­ror of a glob­al “Jew­ish-Marx­ist” con­spir­a­cy. Com­bined with fear of Catholic and Jew­ish immi­grants and their effect on Amer­i­can soci­ety, this ide­o­log­i­cal para­noia fused with a social Dar­win­ism that found its expres­sion in eugenics–a pseu­do-intel­lec­tu­al doc­trine that sought the pro­mo­tion of “desir­able” social and eth­nic types and the sup­pres­sion and/or elim­i­na­tion of “infe­ri­or” racial types. See­ing Ger­many as the point ele­ment in the strug­gle against world Marx­ism, indi­vid­u­als and polit­i­cal par­ties sought to ally with Ger­man fas­cists to bring fas­cism to the U.S. This fas­cist Fifth Col­umn includ­ed polit­i­cal groups rang­ing from the Ku Klux Klan to the Sil­ver Shirts of William Dud­ley Pel­ley, as well as the pro­to­typ­i­cal right-wing talk show host Father Charles Cough­lin, “the Radio Priest.” Cough­lin’s efforts were sub­si­dized by Third Reich intel­li­gence. Financed by financiers and indus­tri­al­ists who sup­port­ed fas­cism, this Fifth Col­umn attempt­ed to kill and/or over­throw FDR on sev­er­al occa­sions. In the Mid­dle East, the con­cept of glob­al jihad was devel­oped by Ger­man archael­o­gist Max von Oppen­heim dur­ing the First World War. Envi­sion­ing the world’s Mus­lims as proxy war­riors against the Entente Pow­ers of Britain, France and Rus­sia, von Oppen­heim cre­at­ed the tem­plate for con­tem­po­rary Islam­ic fas­cism and jihadism. Fol­low­ing the divi­sion of the for­mer Ottoman Empire by Britain and France after World War I, the “Arab Street” began man­i­fest­ing belief in an inter­na­tion­al glob­al con­spir­a­cy involv­ing Jews and the Euro­pean colo­nial pow­ers that res­onat­ed with the Amer­i­can pow­er elite’s ido­l­og­i­cal anx­i­eties.

Fur­ther ana­lyz­ing the recent Ukrain­ian elec­tions, the broad­cast high­lights the incor­po­ra­tion of fas­cist and Nazi per­son­nel into the so-called “mod­er­ate” forces in that unfor­tu­nate coun­try. In turn, the “mod­er­ates” have imple­ment­ed polit­i­cal steps advo­cat­ed by the fas­cists. Exem­plary of this dynam­ic is Petro Poroshenko’s sup­port for “lus­tra­tion laws.” Osten­si­bly designed to root out the mar­row-deep cor­rup­tion that has plagued Ukraine and spurred social unrest, the laws are a vio­la­tion of inter­na­tion­al prin­ci­ple and appear to be aimed at fur­ther purg­ing Russ­ian influ­ence in that coun­try. Poroshenko’s “point per­son” push­ing sup­port of the lus­tra­tion laws is Svit­lana Zal­ishchuk, who received finan­cial sup­port from Pierre Omid­yar, Glenn Green­wald’s finan­cial angel. Sev­er­al mem­bers of the neo-Nazi Azov Bat­tal­ion, includ­ing its com­man­der Andriy Bilet­sky, have been elect­ed to Par­lia­ment. The deputy com­man­der of the Azov Bat­tal­ion is the new chief of police in Kiev.

The Ukrain­ian elec­tion results have pro­duced hosan­nas in the West about the far-right par­ties hav­ing been mar­gin­al­ized in the vote. Noth­ing could be far­ther from the truth. Svoboda–one of the OUN/B heirs on the Ukrain­ian polit­i­cal landscape–has rep­re­sen­ta­tion in par­lia­ment, as does the Rad­i­cal Par­ty of Oleg (“Oleh”) Lyashko, who helped form many of the fas­cist mili­tias active in the civ­il war in the nation’s East­ern sec­tion. Dimytro Yarosh, head of Pravy Sek­tor also won a seat in par­lia­ment, though Pravy Sek­tor fared poor­ly at the polls. What has received lit­tle cov­er­age is the fact that the so-called “mod­er­ate,” “pro-EU” par­ties such as Poroshenko’s par­ty and Arseniy Yat­senyuk’s Peo­ple’s Front have incor­po­rat­ed some of the worst of the Ukrain­ian fas­cists. Poroshenko has OUN/B wartime pres­i­dent Jaroslav Stet­sko’s per­son­al sec­re­tary (Roman Svarych) as an advis­er, along with Oleh Makhnit­sky, the for­mer jus­tice min­is­ter from Svo­bo­da. Yat­senyuk has peo­ple from the fas­cist Azov Bat­tal­ion in the ranks of his orga­ni­za­tion. The effects of hav­ing peo­ple from Svo­bo­da in charge of the judi­cial process can be sam­pled from the attempt to pin the sniper killings in the Maid­an demon­stra­tions on a leader of Yanukovich’s secu­ri­ty forces. “Pho­tographed” hold­ing a sniper rifle with two hands–supposedly the “proof”–Dmytro Sadovnyk only has ONE hand, hav­ing lost the oth­er to a grenade in a train­ing acci­dent years ago. The Poroshenko gov­ern­ment has been using clus­ter muni­tions against its own cit­i­zens.

Revis­it­ing the sub­ject of the 1972 Olympics mas­sacre, we probe more deeply into the under­ly­ing dynam­ics of that event. Hav­ing not­ed in AFA #22 that secu­ri­ty for the games was han­dled by a BND agent named Hans Lange­mann, we review his work cov­er­ing up for the neo-Nazis behind the Okto­ber­fest bomb­ing of 1980. Ger­man neo-Nazis also aid­ed the Black Sep­tem­ber ter­ror­ists who per­pe­trat­ed the Olympics mas­sacre. Despite the fact that the Ger­man gov­ern­ment had advanced warn­ing of the impend­ing attack, no pre­ven­tive action was tak­en. After the attacks, the Ger­man gov­ern­ment was in close touch with the per­pe­tra­tors and down­play­ing the sig­nif­i­cance of the inci­dent. Willi Pohl, one of the neo-Nazis involved who assist­ed Black Sep­tem­ber with the 1972 attack, began work­ing in a counter-ter­ror capac­i­ty for the CIA. Black Sep­tem­ber chief Ali Has­san Salameh, in charge of the attacks, was also impressed into duty with CIA, hav­ing been recruit­ed while Hen­ry Kissinger was astride of Richard Nixon’s nation­al secu­ri­ty pol­i­cy. In spec­u­la­tive mode, we ask if there MAY be a con­nec­tion between Kissinger’s efforts to desta­bi­lize the Willi Brandt government–undertaken con­junc­tion with Third Reich veterans–and the Olympics mas­sacre?

Pop con­spir­a­cy the­o­ry casts the Bilder­berg­er group in a sen­sa­tion­al­ist, polit­i­cal­ly and his­tor­i­cal­ly illit­er­ate “New World Order” con­text. In this broad­cast, we exam­ine the his­to­ry of Prince Bern­hard, the for­mer SS offi­cer and I.G. Far­ben spy who found­ed the group, against the back­ground of the Bat­tle of Arn­hem (Oper­a­tion Mar­ket Gar­den) in Sep­tem­ber of 1944. As head of the Dutch “resis­tance,” appar­ent dou­ble agent Bern­hard sac­ri­ficed a resis­tance fight­er named Chris­t­ian Lin­de­mans (code named “King Kong”), who took the blame for the delib­er­ate betray­al of the Allied bat­tle plan. Sab­o­tage of the Arn­hem oper­a­tion has also been part­ly attrib­uted to Peter Car­ring­ton (lat­er Lord Car­ring­ton and for­mer British For­eign Sec­re­tary dur­ing the run-up to the Fal­ka­lands War.) Attacked for his stun­ning lack of insight with regard to the Argen­tine fas­cist jun­ta’s inva­sion of those islands, Car­ring­ton has nev­er been prop­er­ly vet­ted with regard to the betray­al of part of the British bat­tle plan for the Fal­ka­lnds cam­paign. The pro­gram also exam­ines the fas­cist activ­i­ties and involve­ments of Bern­hard’s heirs in the Roy­al Fam­i­ly of the Nether­lands.


Robert Parry on Conscription of neo-Nazis in Ukraine, Orwellian Coverage by U.S. Media

We have not­ed that the pro­vi­sion­al gov­ern­ment there is direct­ly evolved from the OUN/B Ukrain­ian Nazi admin­is­tra­tion and mil­i­tary appa­ra­tus of World War II. We have also high­light­ed that the utter per­ver­sion of polit­i­cal and his­tor­i­cal real­i­ty by our media is wor­thy of George Orwell’s 1984. In a post on the Ukrain­ian cri­sis, Robert Par­ry high­lights the Orwellian nature of our medi­a’s delib­er­ate and fun­da­men­tal mis­rep­re­sen­ta­tion of the sit­u­a­tion there. In addi­tion, Par­ry notes the inclu­sion of ele­ments like Pravy Sek­tor and Swo­bo­da into the nation­al mil­i­tas being sent to East­ern Ukraine as “anti-ter­ror­ist ” forces.

The U.S. and the EU are pro­ceed­ing for­ward in talks to estab­lish the world’s largest free trade zone–an eco­nom­ic NATO. IF the agree­ment evolves along the lines of the Unit­ed King­dom’s inclu­sion in EU legal reg­u­la­to­ry machin­ery, we may see some­thing akin to the Ber­tels­mann cor­po­ra­tion’s assump­tion of gov­ern­men­tal con­trol of a munic­i­pal dis­trict in York­shire, in the UK.! The world’s largest pub­lish­er, Ber­tels­mann was the pub­lish­er for the SS in World War II and gives every indi­ca­tion of retain­ing its Nazi char­ac­ter.

After the death of Mar­garet Thatch­er, Amer­i­cans are being treat­ed to hagiogra­phies of her polit­i­cal ally Ronald Rea­gan. Rea­gan’s admin­is­tra­tion was a front for the Under­ground Reich, incor­po­rat­ing the GOP Nazi “eth­nics” who had been import­ed into the US fol­low­ing World War II. Rea­gan, him­self, had a long his­to­ry of asso­ci­a­tion with unsa­vory ele­ments, includ­ing orga­nized crime.


Update on the National Socialist Underground

More infor­ma­tion is com­ing out about the Ger­man neo-Nazi group the Nation­al Social­ist Union, pro­tect­ed and financed to an extent by that coun­try’s domes­tic intel­li­gence ser­vice. Not sur­pris­ing­ly, that group was much larg­er than pre­vi­ous­ly dis­closed. In addi­tion, Turk­ish media have been exclud­ed from the upcom­ing tri­al of a mem­ber of the group, most of whose vic­tims were Turks.
