Apologists for the Confederacy claim their ideology is based on “heritage, not hate.” Confederate Vice-President Alexander W. Stephens characterized the Confederacy: ” . . . . its corner-stone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery subordination to the superior race is his natural and normal condition. . . .” As people with an obligation to our descendants, we have the responsibility to preserve a record of the events leading to the collapse of our social and political milieu. There is no better way of fulfilling that obligation than by obtaining the latest flash drive, containing all of Dave’s 45+ years on the air and a library of old anti-fascist books. My feelings about the George Floyd killing and its aftermath are best expressed in a poem I have read on a number of programs. In FTR #46, I detailed the assassination of Martin Luther King. The research in FTR #46, in turn, updated information presented on the 17th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. King more than a decade earlier. Two years ago, when doing ten hours of programming about Dr. King’s murder on the 50th anniversary of that event, I was struck by the utter passivity and silence, not just on the part of the mainstream media, but on the part of the African-American community, as well as the so-called “progressive sector.” How can people who have acquiesced in the cold-blooded assassination of America’s most prominent civil rights leader at the hands of powerful elements of government manifest surprise or outrage at Floyd’s death? Perhaps it is because “They are all bound on the wheel . . . .”
Many of the perpetrators of mayhem in our society have been followers of right-wing/fascist ideologies, a fact that has not received due notice. In FTR #1011, we noted that Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock was a “Sovereign Citizen” and Dimitrios Pagourtzis (the accused Sante Fe, Texas school shooter) was influenced by online fascist ideology. Accused Parkland High School shooter Nikolas Cruz was also influenced by Nazi ideology, as were Columbine shooters Harris and Klebold. Damon Pashilk–accused of setting the 2016 Clayton fire–was also influenced by Nazi ideology. (One of his Facebook posts is pictured at right.) In FTR #1016, we learned that Jarrod Ramos, accused of a mass gunfire-killing at an Annapolis, Maryland, newspaper, was a follower of the neo-Confederate movement. Now we learn that the ironically-named Forrest Gordon Clark–accused of setting the Holy Fire in Southern California–is (like Paddock) a sovereign citizen. With California suffering the effects of drought and with the Golden State in Trump’s political crosshairs, we should be prepared for more “leaderless resistance” wildfire terrorism from fascists.
As indicated in the title, this show updates some paths of inquiry and introduces others.
Discussion begins with the origins of the Austrian Freedom Party (FPO). The party has its genesis with post World War II Third Reich veterans. Its first head was SS General Anton Reinthaller: ” . . . . an honorary Brigadeführer (Major General) in the SS.[1] Having initially joined the SS in December 1938 (with the membership number 292,775)[2] he achieved his highest rank on 30 January 1941. . . . Reinthaller was brought before the Austrian People’s Court and accused of ‘high treason against the Austrian people’, with the three [defendants] labelled as being those most responsible for the Anschluss [Nazi Germany’s annexing of Austria–D.E.] . . . .”
Further analysis of the development of the FPO, notes that the party was founded by Third Reich veterans and Reinthaller’s successor was also an SS officer. ” . . . . The party was founded by the original Nazis in the 1950s and led by Nazis until the 1980s. . . . Reinthaller died in 1958 and was succeeded as Freedom Party leader by Friedrich Peter, another former Nazi Party member and an officer in the SS. Peter ran the party formally until 1978 and then played an informal role well into the 1980s. . . .”
Against the background of the genesis of the FPO, we note that a former speech writer for Jurg Haider is now the interior minister of Austria.
The FPO’s Herbert Kickl is described as the “mastermind” behind the electoral successes of the FPÖ that allowed it to enter into a coalition government.
In March, a police unit headed by a Freedom Party member raided the homes of four staffers and an office of the BVT (Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz und Terrorismus Bekämpfung, i.e., Federal Bureau for the Protection of the Constitution and for Counterterrorism). The BVT is the bureau that deals with right-wing extremism.
The head of the BVT was fired several days after the raids. He had been the object of a virulent campaign by a website Unzensuriert.at which is known as “the Austrian Breitbart”. The former editor in chief of unzensuriert.at is now Kickl’s communications director.
As the article points out, having the far right in charge of Austria’s and Italy’s domestic intelligence agencies doesn’t just put the anti-extremist operations of Austria and Italy at risk. Because of data-sharing agreements across Europe, they’re also learning what other intelligence agencies of other European countries (such as Germany) decided to share with Austria and Italy.
Key points of this story include:
1.–” . . . . In Italy, far-right politician Matteo Salvini now serves as head of Italy’s interior ministry, which handles internal security and terrorism. . . . ”
2.–” . . . . In Austria, the specific incident that has crystallized wider concerns in the world of espionage and counterespionage as well as counterterror was a series of raids ordered by the far-right interior minister earlier this year on the offices of the professional domestic intelligence chief, whose organization had in the past conducted and coordinated with Germany its surveillance of right-wing extremists. . . .”
3.–” . . . . as one long-time security adviser to several French presidents told The Daily Beast, ‘The Austrian operation against the intelligence service by the ministry of interior had an impact on every other intelligence service in the West.’ . . . .”
4.–[German politician Andrej] Hunko tells The Daily Beast he is specifically concerned that Kickl and his people would be able to acquire intelligence about leftist activists who oppose right-wing extremism: ‘It is unthinkable what would happen if secret information about anti-fascist activities falls into the hands of the extreme right via Austria’s conservative-far right government.’ . . .”
Jarrod Ramos, the alleged shooter at the Maryland newspaper The Capital Gazette was influenced by a theocratic neo-Confederate ideology espoused by League of the South.
Specifically, Ramos is a believer in the worldview expressed by League of the South leaders Mike Peroutka and Michael Hill, for whom a Biblical fundamentalist interpretation of the Bible is the only REAL law and individuals are empowered enforce their interpretation of Biblical law on their own.
Hill has also called for the formation of death squads to target journalists, elected officials, and other members of “the elite”. Hill has called for young men of “Christendom” to become “citizen-soldiers” to destroy the “galloping tyranny” of our time.
” . . . . The League is a theocratic, secessionist organization whose leader, Michael Hill, had called for the formation of death squads targeting journalists, elected officials and other members of ‘the elite.’ In his essay ‘A Bazooka in Every Pot,’ Hill described such an assassination campaign as part of ‘fourth-generation warfare,’ a style of decentralized conflict that blurs the lines between war and politics, combatants and civilians. . . . .”
Mike Peroutka was one of the only politicians Ramos tweeted about (he was supportive of Peroutka). The other politician was Donald Trump.
The author notes a possible pair of events that may have catalyzed the shooting: Three days before the shooting, President Trump once again demonized member of the media as “enemies of the people,” at a big outdoor rally in California. The next day, Mike Peroutka lost his 2018 re-election bid in the Republican primary.
As Ramos’s social media posts reveal, another influence on Ramos is the “Berserk” bloody anime movie. He made numerous references to Berserk in his posts, including the last tweet made minutes before the shooting. He even described himself as playing a role in the world of “Berserk”, a world that includes vigilante “hands of God”.
In FTR #756, we noted the strong overlapping connections between Edward Snowden, Julian Assange, Ron Paul and the League of the South.
Ramos appears to have manifested the “lone wolf/leaderless resistance” strategy. ” . . . . ‘Ramos came to see himself as some kind of vigilante for righteousness, casting himself for example as a ‘crusader’ . . . . Political Research Associates analyst Frederick Clarkson told Salon. This vision was ‘not unlike the militaristic, millennial vision of Michael Hill,’ he continued. . . .”
In FTR #888, we noted that Glenn Greenwald ran legal interference for the leaderless resistance strategy, freeing up the likes of Michael Hill from civil liability for their advocacy of mayhem. Greenwald is, in effect, an accessory to the bloodshed allegedly realized by Ramos and others like him.
Next, we turn to the subject of Hindutva fascism. (For more about this subject, see, among other programs, FTR #‘s 988 and 989, 990, 991, 992, and 1015.
In FTR #1015, we highlighted the “cow vigilantes” in India–Hindutva fascist gangs perpetrating violence on Muslims and lower-caste Hindus. WhatsApp is fueling the violence.
The mayor of Jaipur, Ashok Lahoty, shared the rumor about beef being served at the hotel on a BJP WhatsApp group.
It appears that the BJP is behind much of the rumor campaigns as part of its Hindu nationalist agenda. ” . . . . Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has largely remained silent about the problem, and analysts say there’s a reason for that: Much of the fake news now spreading like wildfire has been promoted, if not created, by some of Modi’s most fervent supporters. . . .”
Modi has a well orchestrated machine for disseminating BJP’s fake news: ” . . . . In her book, ‘I am a Troll: Inside the Secret World of the BJP’s Digital Army,’ journalist Swati Chaturvedi explains how the party orchestrates online campaigns to intimidate perceived government critics through a network of trolls on Twitter and Facebook. And she cites multiple people who worked inside the BJP’s social media machine to make her case. . . . Chaturvedi’s findings were backed by another former BJP cyber-volunteer, Sadhavi Khosla, who left the party in 2015 because of the constant barrage of misogyny, Islamophobia, and hatred she was asked to disseminate online. And Prodyut Bora, one of the masterminds of the BJP’s early technology and social media strategy, recently offered a similar outlook. He described his creation as ‘Frankenstein’s monster,’ and said that it had morphed from its original aim of better connecting with the party’s supporters. ‘I mean, occasionally, it’s just painful to watch what they have done with it,’ he told HuffPost India last month. . . .”
Turning from the subject of fake news in India to fake news in the U.S., we conclude with a look at what “deep fake” video technology may harbinger.
When the ‘deepfake’ video technology develops to the point of being indistinguishable from real videos, the far right is going to go into overdrive creating videos purporting to prove virtually every far right fantasy you can imagine. Among the memes that might be reinforced by such technology is the ‘PizzaGate’ conspiracy theory pushed by the right wing in the final weeks of the 2016 alleging that Hillary Clinton and number of other prominent Democrats are part of a Satanist child abuse ring.
Right wing polemicist Liz Crokin is repeating her assertions that video of Hillary Clinton – specifically, Hillary sexually abusing and then eating the face of a child is floating around on the Dark Web is definitely real. Crokin is now warning that reports about ‘deepfake’ technology are disinformation stories being preemptively put out by the Deep State to make the public skeptical when the videos of Hillary cutting the face off of a child come to light.
Accused Florida High School shooter Nikolas Cruz belonged to, and took paramilitary training with the Republic of Florida: ” . . . a white supremacist group . . . .” Of particular interest in analysis of the Florida shooting is the advocacy on the part of ROF leader Jordan Jereb for the “lone wolf/leaderless resistance” strategy: ” . . . . A training video the group posted online shows members practicing military maneuvers in camouflage clothing and saluting each other, along with music with the lyric: ‘They call me Nazi / and I’m proud of it.’ In the weeks before the attack, on Gab, a social media network sometimes used by white nationalists, Jereb had recently praised Norwegian mass killer Anders Breivik as a ‘hero.’ He also posted a diagrammed strategy for using the Republic of Florida militia to create ‘lone wolf activists.’ . . . .” In FTR #888 we noted Glenn Greenwald’s signature efforts as a lawyer for Nazi groups, neutralizing their liability for civil suits. Without Citizen Greenwald’s efforts, victims and the families of victims might have been able to exact civil liability from Republic of Florida for their suffering. Good job Glenn! Good job Greenwald apologists! In FTR #967, we highlighted the Nazi group Atomwaffen, one of whose members was plotting an attack on a nuclear power plant. (The would be nuke terrorist was Brandon Russell, a Florida National Guardsman.)
New articles on the group disclose that they have been responsible for a number of recent murders around the country. More murders should be expected because Atomwaffen produces ISIS-style videos promoting mass neo-Nazi violence designed to sabotage and implode society.
FTR #888 details the work of Glenn Greenwald in running legal interference for the leaderless strategy advocated by the likes of James Mason and the National Alliance. Specifically, Citizen Greenwald freed up the likes of Atomwaffen et al from civil liability for their ISIS-style YouTube exhortations to violence and murder.
In FTR #437, we highlighted counter-culture fascism and the penchant of some to promote fascist outcroppings like the Charles Manson cultists to bohemians. Atomwaffen idolize both James Mason and his Siege newsletter and book, as well as one of Mason’s idols–Charles Manson.
Mason expressed support for the Nazi eugenics and euthanasia program. (We have discussed eugenics and euthanasia in numerous programs, including Miscellaneous Archive Shows M12 and M60, as well as FTR #‘s 117, 124, 140, 141, 534, 664, 908, and 909.)
He has company:
University College London (UCL) recently discovered that there’s been a secret eugenics conference hosted in its campus since 2014.
One prominent attendee to these conferences is Toby Young, the head of the New Schools Network – a network of “Free schools” — non-profit independent schools funded by the state. Another is Richard Lynn, the ‘academic’ who sits on the board of the Pioneer Fund and who provided the bulk of the work in The Bell Curve purporting to show racial difference in intelligence.
Attendees at the invite-only conference were told about the location at the last minute and asked not to mention it to anyone.
We conclude with a very important op-ed column in The New York Times underscoring the continuity between American and German eugenics, the Nazi T‑4 program and GOP “austerity.” The Republicans and like-minded individuals like Princeton faculty member Peter Singer are advocating against the disabled is being “cost ineffective.”
” . . . . We often say what happened in Nazi Germany couldn’t happen here. But some of it, like the mistreatment and sterilization of the disabled, did happen here.
A reading of Hoche and Binding’s ‘Permitting the Destruction of Unworthy Life’ [a bedrock intellectual element of the 1920’s German eugenics movement–D.E.] shows the similarity between what they said and what exponents of practical ethics, such as Peter Singer, say about the disabled today. As recently as 2015, Singer, talking with the radio host Aaron Klein on his show, said, ‘I don’t want my health insurance premiums to be higher so that infants who can experience zero quality of life can have expensive treatments.’
These philosophers talk about the drain on ‘resources’ caused by lives lived with a disability, which eerily echoes what Hoche and Binding wrote about the ‘financial and moral burden’ on ‘a person’s family, hospital, and state’ caused by what they deem lives ‘unworthy of living.’ Experts point out the recent Republican health care proposals would strip Medicaid funding that helps the elderly, the poor and the disabled live healthier and more dignified lives.
A recent New York Times article quoted the Rev. Susan Flanders, a retired Episcopal priest, as saying: ‘What we’re paying for is something that many people wouldn’t want if they had a choice. It’s hundreds of dollars each day that could go towards their grandchildren’s education or care for the people who could get well.’ In the article, Flanders, whose father had Alzheimer’s, is described as ‘utterly unafraid to mix money into the conversation about the meaning of life when the mind deteriorates.’ Practical ethicists are similarly unafraid to do this. As were the Nazis. . . .”
With the Trump administration’s deregulation of agencies like the EPA and the Food and Drug Administration, the American people are going to be exposed to carcinogens, mutagens and unsafe food and pharmaceutical products. Years from now, the country is going to experience a big upswing in the incidence of cancer and other degenerative diseases, as well as birth deformities.
The strong possibility that this tsunami of degenerative disease and birth defects could overwhelm the health care system and lead to the implementation of an American T‑4 program is one to be taken very seriously.
Program Highlights Include:
1.-The confluence of Manson/Nazi cultists with esoteric Nazism, highlighted in, among other programs, FTR #‘s 991 and 992.
2.-Review of Manson victim Sharon Tate in the Los Angeles area campaign of Robert F. Kennedy.
3.-Review of Robert Kennedy’s statement to Tate and her husband Roman Polanski (as well as others) that he would re-open the investigation into his brother’s murder after getting to the White House.
4.-Review of Ed Butler’s attribution of the Tate/La Bianca killings to the Black Panthers or other “black militants.”
5.-Review of the probable Manson family authorship of the murder of Marina Habe, daughter of anti-fascist writer Hans Habe.
6.-Review of the affinity between the brilliant Nazi hacker Andrew Auerenheimer aka “Weev” and the Atomwaffen.
7.-Review of Weev’s participation in Glenn Greenwald and Laura Poitras’ party celebrating their receipt of the prestigious Polk award.
After encountering problems advancing more conventional fund-raising methods, Nazi groups are prospering due to successful mining of Bitcoin. The most successful Nazi miner of Bitcoin is Andrew “Weev” Auerenheimer: ” . . . . One neo-Nazi stands above the rest in his bitcoin usage: Andrew ‘weev’ Auernheimer, who’s received over $1 million in bitcoin, according to one report. Even though Auernheimer has withdrawn roughly $118,620 from his bitcoin wallet between late August and Wednesday, his remaining bitcoin store has been replenishing his wealth throughout the recent bitcoin boom. . . .” It is not surprising that Bitcoin should become a source of Nazi wealth, since its foundations are as far to the right as can be.
Continuing our long-running analysis of the realization of the Nazi methodology expressed in “Serpent’s Walk,” we further develop Breitbart’s achievements in that regard, as well as underscoring how YouTube has evolved in that same manner.
The back cover of “Serpent’s Walk” sums up the essence of the tome: ” . . . It assumes that Hitler’s warrior elite — the SS — didn’t give up their struggle for a White World when they lost the Second World War. Instead their survivors went underground and adopted some of the tactics of their enemies: they began building their economic muscle and buying into the opinion-forming media. A century after the war they are ready to challenge the democrats and Jews for the hearts and minds of White Americans, who have begun to have their fill of government-enforced multi-culturalism and ‘equality.’ . . .”
Key to the success achieved by both Breitbart and YouTube “alt-right” personalities is networking. At Breitbart, the skillful, adroit Milo Yiannopoulos served as a point person for a coterie of white supremacists and anti-Semites while couching the views they espouse in a careful, rhetorically ambiguous manner deflective of overt criticism. At YouTube, regular personalities with their own shows and content host other, more overtly extremist guests and channel viewers to the more extreme sites through that exposure.
BuzzFeed has a long piece based on a cache of leaked emails that describe behind-the-scenes efforts at Breitbart to mainstream the “Alt Right” neo-Nazis. This story firms up analysis of Breitbart as a white nationalist publication run by neo-Nazis for the purpose of mainstreaming neo-Nazi ideals.
Those efforts primarily revolved around Milo Yiannopoulos, who is:
Tasked with reaching out to “Alt Right” figures.
Getting comments from them about what the “Alt Right” was all about.
Then, later getting feedback from them about the planned articles before they were published.
It was clearly a group effort. Those efforts included Andrew ‘the weev’ Auernheimer, Curtis Yarvin (the founder of the “Dark Enlightenment” movement), and Devin Saucier, a neo-Nazi Yiannopoulos describes as his best friend.
Of primary interest here is the cunning exercised by Yiannopoulos, Bannon et al in parsing just what they can get away with doing and what they must avoid. Auerenheimer, for example, was excluded a Yiannopoulos podcast after being vetted by Breitbart managment.
The emails included back and forths between Yiannopoulos and Breitbart editors about whether or not the publication was getting too openly friendly with the Nazis, with Yiannopoulos being told at one point that it was fine to use a “shekels” joke but “you can’t even flirt with OKing gas chamber tweets.”
Other points of information include: Curtis Yarvin’s statement that he was “coaching” Peter Thiel on politics; How the two Yiannopoulos passwords found in the emails were “a password that began with the word Kristall”, and “LongKnives1290,” references to Kristallnacht and the Night of the Long Knives;”
Noteworthy, also, is the financial power of the Mercer interests, who have successfully rattled legal sabers against media outlets who have tarred Yiannopoulos with the racist brush.
Alt-right YouTube hosts also employ networking, inviting ideologically extreme guests to participate on their programs, presenting views more inflammatory than those normally aired on the netcasts. The extremist guests then receive a significant bump-up in traffic from their appearances.
As the title indicates, this program examines manifestations of fascism around the world.
In Europe, we analyze:
1.-The recapitulation of Nazi and fascist elements in the current Bulgarian coalition government of Boyko Borisov. (Bulgaria was a Nazi ally in World War II.)
2.-The vitality of “regionalism”–a political/economic doctrine that advocates the secession of key prosperous regions from nation states.
3.-Analysis of regionalism as an application of globalist economic theory to Euorope.
4.-The history of regionalism’s advoacy by Third Reich veteran theoreticians.
5.-Edward Snowden and Julian Assange’s support for Catalan secession from Spain.
6.-The success of the AfD in German elections.
7.-AfD politician Alexander Gauland’s statement that Germans should be proud of what that country’s soldiers accomplished in World War II.
8.-The Austrian Freedom Party’s projected success in upcoming elections. The party was formed in 1956 by Third Reich veterans as a vehicle for re-introducing Austrian Nazis into the country’s political life.
In Latin America, we examine:
1.-The verdict that Argentine AMIA bombing investigator Alberto Nisman’s death was a murder, not a suicide.
2.-Review of the AMIA bombing investigation.
3.-The discovery of a cache of Nazi artifacts, including devices used for determining racial purity. Hitler apparently posed with some of the artificats.
4.-The role of Nisman’s widow as the judge investigating the Nazi artifact case.
5.-Operational links between American Nazi Christopher Cantwell and the Koch Brothers-funded Ludwig Von Mises Institute in Brazil.
In the United States, we detail:
1.-How Breitbart actively promoted Neo-Nazism, while downplaying what it was actually doing.
2.-How white supremacist and Nazi elements are successfully using YouTube to mainstream fascist and racist views.
In the Middle East, we highlight:
1.-Benjamin Netanyahu’s political connections with the Thyssen/Krupp firm, one of the lynchpins of the Bormann capital network.
2.-Yair Netanyahu’s attribution of his father’s political difficulties to sabotage by an international Jewish conspiracy.
3.-Ronald Regan’s 1981 citation of Ibn Khaldun as a key advocate for supply-side economics.
4.-Review of the Muslim Brotherhood’s embrace of the views of Ibn Khaldun.
In FTR #888, we detailed Glenn Greenwald’s years-long (pre-“journalist”) career running pro-bono legal interference for Nazi killers and the leaderless resistance strategy. At their party celebrating receipt of the prestigious Polk Award, Greenwald and Laura Poitras had Nazi troll/hacker Andrew Auerenheimer as a guest. Auerenheimer (pictured at right) is also the site architect for the “Daily Stormer,” arguably the leading white supremacist blog/website. All of the contents of this website as of 12/19/2014–Dave Emory’s 37+ years of research and broadcasting–as well as hours of videotaped lectures are available on a 32GB flash drive.
